Pull a civ div . Join the Marine corp infantry (or navy corpmen if want to be a combat medic ) with a 4 year contract then after the cotnract ends go fight with YPG in Syria or Peshmerga in Iraq (I don't know if there still fighting lol ) .

It didn't help that a lot of them were also Christian converts which were viewed suspiciously by the Tokugawa shogunate. So what ended up happening was lots of Japanese, many of whom were soldiers or samurai, emigrated all over Asia. Everyone from Chinese merchants to the Spanish in the Philippines to the Dutch recruited Japanese mercenaries, who were often found in Siam and in Tonkin as well. The largest companies consisted of hundreds of mercenaries although sometimes even thousands of them were employed like in the wake of the Sangley Chinese rebellion against the Spanish Philippines. The Spanish even considered recruiting a large enough force of European and Japanese mercenaries to go invade China at one point. The Dutch did so also, although some Dutch officials considered them very difficult to manage if not outright bloodthirsty. Even in modern times they were present in both the Chinese civil war (on both sides) the Indonesian Independence war (against the Dutch) and the Malayan emergency (with the British). Some of them even attacked Tel Aviv Airport on behalf of the Palestinians.
