please tell me i wasn't the only child who wondered where the gas tank was on gas operated guns.

When I was little I was worried I would use up all the gas and wouldn't know how to refill it and Dad would find out I was shooting his guns when he wasn't around
scout's scattergun makes a little sense, the drum could be holding all the reserve shells and the lever could be ejecting the old shells while winding the spring to continue feeding the gun. Kinda like the mechanism on the street sweeper.
That's an MP5. The SMG in HL2 is a grenade launching MP7.

Shit, I misread it. I apologize instead.

The SMG in HL2 is a more modern looking skin for the SMG from HL1, which was an MP5 and underbarrel launcher
The gameplay need of >SMG with secondary fire that really fricks shit up
Was greater than the autism need of >Guns in video games need to be real guns
There's a reason why it's called the forward assist button, it's so it can charge up your rifle into full auto when you press and hold for a period of time.
if someone had even the most minuscule amount of mechanical knowledge, they would be able to convert any low shelf AR to full-auto in about 5 minutes. Would it break the law? Yes. Is it going to break the law if they intended to do something bad anyway? Yes.
So what difference do these stupid, pearl clutcher cope laws make? NONE
>So what difference do these stupid, pearl clutcher cope laws make? NONE
Clearly they do make a difference because nobody is shooting up shools or stores with full autos
are you sure about that one, chief?
Black folk love giggle switches
just because they don't wanna give a kid bullied into insanity a lightning link for his AR doesn't mean people are not doing shit with full auto
Unironically if mass shooters had full-auto guns, there would be less deaths, cause they'd waste all their ammo in like a tenth the time and probably hit even fewer targets
Full auto would just make the onions crusted noodle hands of most school shooters waste all their ammo into the wall rather than anything else.
Or would temp their psychotic minds into using all the bullets on one corpse rather than plinking everyone one by one.
Probably would save more lives tbh.
Lmao, I'm gonna go to my gun shop, finger frick a few ARs and drop that line to the zoomer behind the counter. >Woah? They all come with 12V cig lighters? Kinda like the Galil bottle opener!
People don't know what they don't know. For example, most people aren't aware it supports movement in both directions. You push it forward after a press check, but you can also pull it back to the rear as well, release, and fire a shot at greatly reduced velocity, sometimes even subsonic with heavier ammo.
Self destruct button in case of enemy capture. The NRA lobbied that dangerous military function into most AR15s, making them extremely dangerous to capture and very likely to explode in the user's hands if accidentally activated. If your AR lacks that button then you have a safe rifle
It's used to make the bolt/bolt carrier go forward in case the return spring hasn't completely returned (or may not have) and therefore prevent the rifle firing.
It does, but the argument against it isn't that it is a bad idea per se, but because if it is needed you've got other issues. From malfunctioning cartridge, to shitty ammo. Furthermore if the issue is minor enough that the forward assist can fix it, then it isn't useful as a 'failsafe' that some claim it to be. It was added because the big wigs wanted a way to 'force' it 'into battery' (I term I dislike) but they didn't go fully into it afaik.
Ultimately most experts believe it is nice to have, but isn't used a lot. So it's a nice thing to have in a situation that may or may not happen (combat situation where somehow your gun doesn't fire and it's a minor fault). However for the L85A1 it was standard because that was one of the worst rifles in history (beaten arguably by the FAMAS and INSAS) and was fixed in the A2 by just fixing the mechanical issue that made it needed in the first place. But apparently it is still taught as a standard way to 'fix' your rifle in combat even though the A2 doesn't die outside of lab conditions any more (and the A3 is now becoming the standard).
Same and at this point I'm unironically too scared to ask.
i think its like if the gun jams it pushes on the bolt since theres no charging handle
Non-reciprocating charging handle means less moving mass and lower felt recoil but the catch is you can't force the bolt shut.
The army didn't like this and forced Colt to add the forward assist.
Lots of people act like the forward assist is terrible and ruins ARs, it's not. Others like to pretend it's needed, it's not.
It's like the tag on your matress, it would be fine without it but having it doesn't make it worse.
No, noal people realized it's rarely used, but may need to be used (see Kyle Rittenhouse) but not hurting anything by being there.
Only spastic mongoloid geeks think it's hurting something
>It's like the tag on your matress, it would be fine without it but having it doesn't make it worse.
Wrong. It's needed in adverse environments. >t. Shot hundreds of rounds out of AR in short period of time inna jungle and desert
because the charging handle on an AR15 is a hook that grabs the bolt and pulls it back but can't push it forward, the forward assist is there to push the bolt forward if needed.
>they banned blacks from gun ownership
If only, societal problems are easily traced to the blacks in America.
Removing them from crime statistics and this country is amazingly safe
So you're telling me after shooting the Skateboard israelite and a couple seconds later to then engage with Gaige Grossisraelite he managed to inspect his weapon and notice the bolt wasn't closed and smacked the jam enhancer? 6 gorillion is more believable
Show me the pickles where? Grossisraelite pops up a couple seconds later after Kyle shot skateisraelite while he's picking himself up from laying from the ground to sitting on his ass and once he get's on his ass he immediately points his gun at grossisraelite who's approaching like a Rabi to a Circumcision ceremony but instead of of scissors and lip injection he has a pistol in hand
Could it be more the fact that the shot which caused him to have to clear the rifle was at point blank range? As in the tip of the barrel was pressing into the skateboard gay's chest/stomach when he fired. Surely that could cause a frick up in cycling properly?
t. No guns 🙁
The most that would do is increase back pressure; as the gasses would take longer to escape out the muzzle and would force more gas through the gas port. This would only make the action cycle more violently which COULD cause a malfunction, but not the one he had.
Not going fully into battery can be explained by multiple factors common in steel case ammo: >weak load and poor gas seal reduce BCG velocity to less than what the gun is tuned for >higher friction on cases makes it take more energy to push the next round out of the magazine >shitty powder dirties up a brand new gun that has likely never been cleaned or lubricated, increasing friction on the whole system
Combine that and your bolt just barely travels back far enough to pick up the next round, then struggles to return to battery and getting stuck along the way.
Because press checks happen, especially on a crowded firing line. I only had to fail a drill under time pressure once in front of people, all because I had to "clear" a bolt that wasn't back in battery, for me to make it just another step in a press check.
Will it ever happen in the field? No idea, not my job. But it happened on a flat range, so personally, I'm glad to have it.
The part thats missing, for those anons who didn't see it, is War Path is trolling the guy named Lakota Man. Lakota Man is pretending to be a vet, claiming no one should be allowed to use the dangerous full auto button.
No because then Cops in places like NYC will have to drive around in Rat Patrol Jeeps and mow down bad homies, and who wants that. Can easily just go to Mexico for that shit
Why do people have to "deserve " something to have.
Do fat people deserve deserts? For that matter do thin healthy people?
Do homeless people deserve a house....talk to most of them and youll find the answer is frick no what scumbags.
Do israelites deserve Isreal? 109 countries before saud no but hey lets try again.
Tbe real question is what do civilians have a right to, what is not a right but socially, morally, and logistically acceptable and more importantly what isn't?
I think fire qnd forget weapons and unmanned drones with arms should not be.
I think you should have to physically pull tbe trigger/button and be there.... but im a bit of a worry wart, I'm also against private ownership of anything more destructive than a 120mm cannon. I think morally you should be able to own more power but logistically for society you just cant
Ackshually the name of that button is the "forward assist". What it does is exactly what the name implies.
It assists the bullet shell forward so the cartridge can fly out at super amor piercing speeds. Its like injecting NOS into a car engine. It just makes the shell really fast so the bullet has a bigger bang and does more damage.
Only push the button if you want to shoot something really extra hard though.
Meme aside is full auto with 30 rounds in a magazine really useful? Are you going to lay down suppressing fire on the Bloods 30 rounds of questionable accuracy at a time? There is a reason the standard M249 magazine is 200 rounds. Burst might have an argument.
What we need now is automatic-auto. I want the gun to continue firing without pulling the trigger. Just waste ammo and reduce effectiveness to the max.
Full auto is a human right
ok, and?
>lying to the masses
Everyone knows it's the charging button.
Frick, you were making a joke, but that is an incredibly accurate description of what it does.
>never played counter strike
Didn't work like much of a button in counter-strike
It's a gas operated rifle. You gotta start the engine somehow.
With those dubs Keltec might take that idea seriously
Yep, but you gotta pull the choke before you pull the cord otherwise it wont start when it's cold.
just spray a bit of start ya bastard in there thats what my grand pappy always said
please tell me i wasn't the only child who wondered where the gas tank was on gas operated guns.
When I was little I was worried I would use up all the gas and wouldn't know how to refill it and Dad would find out I was shooting his guns when he wasn't around
>He doesn't give his rifle a couple priming pumps before starting it.
You pump it a couple times, then pull the handle.
more pump = more power
>forward assisting charging handle
>grenade launching mp7
>Double barreled spas 12
>scout scattergun
I absolutely love valve's aggressive commitment to not knowing how guns work
scout's scattergun makes a little sense, the drum could be holding all the reserve shells and the lever could be ejecting the old shells while winding the spring to continue feeding the gun. Kinda like the mechanism on the street sweeper.
Valves weird guns are so much cooler than the real ones
no
>grenade launching mp7
Apologize!
Also mirrored AK in CS.
That's an MP5. The SMG in HL2 is a grenade launching MP7.
Shit, I misread it. I apologize instead.

That’s the dipstick
no its the sniper button you moron
excuse me, this makes the bullets shoot faster using air pressure
that button switches to rocket launcher mode
It charges the gun with more power to fire fully automatic.
There's a reason why it's called the forward assist button, it's so it can charge up your rifle into full auto when you press and hold for a period of time.
>hold button down
>pull trigger
>rifle is now full auto
Hahaha, normies don't know this do they!
>samurai charging you
Ayo hol up lemme press this complicated sequence of buttons
>knife stuck in throat
do americans really?
>twitter screencap thread
why do you do this
sniper button
That's the charging handle, dumbass. Ever played counter-strike?
yes, they don't. full auto is incerdibly unreliable anyway and only Black folk use it
It's honestly not really that useful. Unless you need to suppress "deer"
itd save me money on having my butcher make me venison burger
If "deer" is a synonym for jogger riots then yes.
there's a hole in the logic from the beginning
if someone had even the most minuscule amount of mechanical knowledge, they would be able to convert any low shelf AR to full-auto in about 5 minutes. Would it break the law? Yes. Is it going to break the law if they intended to do something bad anyway? Yes.
So what difference do these stupid, pearl clutcher cope laws make? NONE
I don't know if a dangerous runaway counts as real full auto
>So what difference do these stupid, pearl clutcher cope laws make? NONE
Clearly they do make a difference because nobody is shooting up shools or stores with full autos
are you sure about that one, chief?

No one actually cares about gang violence.

the las vegas shooter used full auto, dont try to tell me that was bump stocks
Full auto would just make the onions crusted noodle hands of most school shooters waste all their ammo into the wall rather than anything else.
Or would temp their psychotic minds into using all the bullets on one corpse rather than plinking everyone one by one.

That’s the cigarette heater hole
Lmao, I'm gonna go to my gun shop, finger frick a few ARs and drop that line to the zoomer behind the counter.

I push it to give my shots extra velocity when I'm at the range.
It's the RO call button.
If you push it he will sweep up the brass from your lane and make it nice and clean
People don't know what they don't know. For example, most people aren't aware it supports movement in both directions. You push it forward after a press check, but you can also pull it back to the rear as well, release, and fire a shot at greatly reduced velocity, sometimes even subsonic with heavier ammo.
I thought that was the shoulder thing that goes up
I don't get what a forward assist does or why it exists.
That's why you should lurk for an eternity you no-brain monkey Black person.
Same and at this point I'm unironically too scared to ask.
i think its like if the gun jams it pushes on the bolt since theres no charging handle
Mudslimes literally used it as the "sniper button"
Self destruct button in case of enemy capture. The NRA lobbied that dangerous military function into most AR15s, making them extremely dangerous to capture and very likely to explode in the user's hands if accidentally activated. If your AR lacks that button then you have a safe rifle
It's used to make the bolt/bolt carrier go forward in case the return spring hasn't completely returned (or may not have) and therefore prevent the rifle firing.
why doesnt it do that anymore
It got laid off, it's now in retirement just chilling on the side of many rifles
It dispenses Pez
It's there to help turn a failure to feed into a failure to extract.
Ask St. Kyle if you ever run into him. It saved his life.

Hahahaha ok marxist.
Oy vey. Calm down with the commie speak.
If it’s good enough for Armored Infantry Coast Guard, it’s good enough for me
That's the sniper button.
To be fair, the fire selector is within the circle
In all seriousness, why do they still include the jam enhancer on commercial replica after 50 years? Just get rid of it for christsake nobody uses it.
Literally saved Rittenhouse's life.

Google it, there's dozens of articles and videos and pictures, his sworn fricking testimony.
I watched the standard and enhanced pickles several times. Dude just misremembered the events lol
>he managed to inspect his weapon and notice the bolt wasn't closed and smacked the jam enhancer?
Yes. It's in the video.
its literally on video you moron
kys israelite
Only after he severely fricked up by running Wolf garbage through it. It corrected an issue he should not have had in the first place.

In the last 5 years there have been numerous slick side uppers hitting the market. Buy those, complain less.
I use it for hunting.
Same reason I don't slam my truck's door when I get out to start hunting.
ah yes, button octaves the salvo mode

is there a video of this thing in action?
Yes. It makes gun go brrt.
found a video of it
drops in the coathanger at ~1:10, it's amazing it works so well
Could someone make an infographi/k/ showing how the hanger interfaces with the trigger assembly?
For curiosity's sake.

my gun has no ovelapping-auto button
how do i fix it
this is not a full auto machine gun.
Is that a tipman?
yeah.
Where did you get that magazine? I bought a drum for mine but it doesn't fit
hammered out of sheet metal. not original magazine
That's where you put the gas. It's direct impingement meaning the gas goes right into the reciever.

troll and technically he did include the selector in that circle
