Seyboys will be happy with dji level performance and pay dji prices. israeli congressmen will take bribes to allow Chinese filth product to be sold in USA. So we don't get a cool American consumer drone.

buying, not using.
Most of the DJI drones in USAF and BLM service are still flying because of the "irreplaceable" escape clause in the legislation.

address the better part.
DJI is cheaper because they own 75% of the market and thus benefit tremendously from economy of scale.
DJI owns Hasselblad, although I'm sure you don't even know what that is or what the ownership means for DJI.

It will definitely put strain on the motors sure. The DJI drones are made to efficiently run stock. If you put any extra weight they will be a little slower and will push the motors harder to make up for the payload. This wears the batteries down way faster. If someone if trying to carry more than a couple pounds it's going to start going through batteries way quick.

That was actually in the middle of the city.
If you're in EU you have to switch for CE to burger FCC mode which allows way more power. In CE mode my Spark can barely make 200m. There are firmware patches/hacks, custom firmwares to override those limitations.
Spark has horrible range and battery last for 12 min, with mini in fcc mode I would say you could hit 2000m.

Manufactuing innovation moves to where the manufacturing supply chains are. They basically had all the ingredients given to them courtesy of greedy western corporations, and some Chinaman decided to mash them all together. Good on them.
> They basically had all the ingredients given to them courtesy of greedy western corporations
Lol no.
You don’t understand contract manufacturing. At all.
You won't be able to build one for less at their performance. In fact you won't be able to build one at all. There are no off shelf sensors and gimbals you can mount on a custom drone. Hoby domain right now is fooling around and wasting money for less performance on mid tier drones, fpv drones, and really big drones that you can't buy because of regulations.
Nobody is going to track you. Haven't you learned a thing from ukr war? They're too small to be detectable. You get some build in restrictions that don't allow you to fly next to airports, besides that just don't be stupid, and you can get away with a lot.
>be in sparsely urban area >at nighttime >in foggy condition >fly drone above fog >*snap*
True true but with DJI it's kinda risky to fly in fog, condensation gets over ground sensor and 500m up in the air drone starts thinking it's about to hit ground and doesn't want to descent anymore, it'll just hover in the same spot till battery dies and then fall from sky like a rock.
In most cases it will auto return. Remember, GPS has an altitude component.
Anonymous
ground sensor trigger overrides gps.
like I said, this happens only if you're flying through thick fog or rain which no normal person would do anyways.
>500m up in the air drone starts thinking it's about to hit ground and doesn't want to descent anymore, it'll just hover in the same spot till battery dies and then fall from sky like a rock
In event of that thing landing on someone what kind of damage it might cause? What's the terminal velocity of a falling mavic?
>What's the terminal velocity of a falling mavic?
They are pretty dense. I'm sure the gimbal would be fricked, the arms would snap off and the battery would probably be damaged too. If it hit a hard surface I'm sure it'd be totaled.
idk but Spark is 250g, feels pretty heavy in hand, taking freefall hit to a head would not end well.
That's why I haven't put any contact details on mine. I often use it where I shouldn't, make altitude records and what not, if it's lost it's lost, I don't want it to be traceable back to me if something bad happens.
And battery, don't forget battery
I got memed into building fpv and no matter how hard i minmax shit i can never get it to fly longer than 20mins. Good fricking luck getting more than 13 if you wanna strap a mavic-level camera on it
no idea what you're doing but i bought the cheapest parts for a 5" on ali, slapped 4 18650 cells on it and easily hit 20 minutes without any optimization
better suited motors, 2 bladed props, 6S and it might get 30 minutes while cruising at >60km/h
frame: ~20 (Steele 5 on ali)
motors: ~62 Flight XING-E Pro 2207 2207 1800KV
FC/ESC: mamba F405 stack for ~80
some 3 bladed props
the 18650 are reclaimed VTC6 cells that are ~5 bucks each
receiver, VTX and antenna i had laying around. would recommend a second hand TBS Unify pro32 HV tho
only luxury i put on it is a "star light cam". some very sensitive on so i can fly at night
>Everyone shits on drones for being overhyped and not that effective >Garand Thumb releases video on DJI drones in combat >a million threads about drones and anti drone ideas
You're all fricking sheep, this wasn't even a hard one to see
They are just hypebeast brainlets. The only good they provide the community is used parts and equipment when the NEWTHING comes out every 6 months. Anyone with a brain realized the value of small drones years ago.
I knew people who were dogfighting with rc bi-planes using remotely triggered bottle rockets two decades ago
one of those guys founded a drone company and did really well for himself, although I think he ended up making media focused drones
>the reliable workhorse
Not so reliable considering countless tries to prevent its usage on the front. Starting with firmware updates, licensed electronic warfare systems, and the prohibition of selling to Ukraine for European retailers.
It's a chink toy, the best for its price tag but it reveals why should not rely on chinks
The chinese also claim to have invented the compass (it was known to the vikings), the crossbow (the idea of attaching a bow to another stick and leaving it drawn on a trigger...) despite the fact that drawn bow traps and devices are found in every culture that had the bow(invented independently virtually everywhere along with stringed instruments). Many discoveries (especially the pretty obvious ones) are made independently. What is unique in Chinnese culture (and to a lesser extent British culture) is part of the national culture is claiming that the compass or printing (I'm sorry china, even children and cavemen quickly figure out hand prints and block printing ) and gunpowder in fact the communists (who under mao were laughably ignorant little men) like to talk about "The four great inventions of China". Why are the Chinese this way? Well their isolationist and moronic emperor and bureaucracy cut them off from technological advance and international trade and left them moronic and backward and rather barbaric and that set them up to be completely humiliated by the British, Americans, Germans, British etc who had bolt action rifles, telescopes, binoculars, telegrams battleships etc. So they have a chip on their shoulders. It is a great shame MAo erased Chinese history (very thoroughly too) but it was not the first time Chinese history was erased, in fact it had happened previously, The absolute concentration of all good art, literature, objects etc in the imperial collection meant that the destruction of that collection erased the dynasty, so in incidents of hostile dynastic succession that occurred. China has had several man made 'dark ages'. ANY claim from China of having invented anything should be immediately considered as extremely suspect by default
Why were the Chinks ahead of the US in consumer drones for so long anyways? I'm legitimately curious. (THOUGH it does looks like we might be catching up with Skydio at least)
Parrot's fricking trash and they source components from China.
Skydio is now pivoting to gov contracts since they can't really compete against DJI in the consumer space. In fact, Skydio's current strategy is to make something good enough (not as good, good enough) to replace DJIs for gov contracts sometime in the near future.
Autel, but they're also Chinese.
DJI has about 75% of the US drone market. No other entrants have more than 4%.
PrepHole is full of fricking morons who should have their mouths stapled shut. Permanently.
>You don't hear about the US drone manufacturers because they are commercial and prosumer range stuff.
No, because they fricking suck and are at least 2x the price of a DJI.
You can ask the USAF and BLM how indispensable their DJIs are. Even after the legislation banning DJI use, they still use them using the "irreplaceable" clause.
What you don't fricking under, and you never will, is that DJI has achieved super critical economy of scale both in terms of hardware and SW. They're the Apple of the drone universe and are, in the short and medium terms, unassailable. And remember, Apple was only threatened by 1 company: Huawei. (No, Samsung wasn't a threat).
You are talking to a chinksect, my friend. They have a habit of chimping out like low IQ Black folk every time someone doesn't kiss their ass and agreeing with everything they say, you can clearly see the difference between a civilized human being and a Han monkey from the way they talk alone.
three
Awww little chinkshit shill is mad.
DJI products are cheap(which is all that matters to people like you), their performance is no better than parrot's drone of equivalent specifications.
I already have. You haven't posted any evidence parrots or any other US manufactured drones are bad in any way, except price, which is fair because it isn't squints making them.
>I already have.
where? Where is the timestamp? >You haven't posted any evidence parrots or any other US manufactured drones are bad in any way
If you used any of them, you would fricking know. Even in absolute performance, Mavics win.
You're a dumb homosexual. KYS.
Imagine the sheer insecurity, homosexualry, and stupidity one must possess to make that image. Then image someone who unironically posts it to try to make a point.
Yikes…
Honestly, not really, unless you want to play around with a payload hook. My mavic pro can fly reasonably happily with 500 grams of shit strapped to it. It'll take off with 750 and fly, but it's pissed.
I have both. With a Mini, you don't have to register. With a Mavic Pro/Air/Anything else, you do.
The camera and flight performance for the Mavics are better, as is battery life. If this is your first drone, and you're a hobby user, start with the Mini. That's what I did. And I used my mini for inspecting my roof (and flying it to 500Ms to take shots before the FAA banned that).
No such thing other than jammer which will make it just hover in one spot till battery gets depleted and based on how high it was either do a soft landing or fall out of sky.
I was digging through docs to figure out if there was anything...
doesn't look like it
https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/remote_id
https://www.dji.com/newsroom/news/dji-top-drone-models-approved-faa-remote-id
Not zero. But there are A LOT more likelier things to worry about.
This thread is making me really regret not getting into drones years ago when DJI and quadcopters were first popping off in /csg/. Is now a good time to buy in?
now it's even better since you can get cheap dji mini/watever that has way better range and endurance than older dji drones.
older low end dji drones did have more sensors but if you're not really reckless you won't be missing them.
just do fcc mod right away when you get one, flying in ce euro mode if dangerous.
I'd say yea, these things are cheaper than ever. If you're willing to get offbrand extra chinky chinesium models you can even get one that's already come equipped with GPS and shit for 100ish (don't expect good camera though, but they're pretty good for just flying around)
$1000 gets you a mini 3 pro and various accessories / batteries / bag. That gets you incredible gimbal, zoom, moving object tracking, collision sensors, 40min flight time, excellent live video ("1080p/30fps live feed at distances of up to 12 km"), easy to fly. Downsides are RID and Chinese backdoors
>Chinese backdoors
You can use it completely offline and only swap sd card into computer if that's needed to keep your schizo paranoia at bay tho I don't care as long as it doesn't phone back to EU/US authorities.
Chinks couldn't care less what I do with a drone.
Only shitty thing dji does is drm in batteries.
>Skydio still doing the "SORRY GOVERNMENT ONLY" shit for their only drone models that aren't complete and utter shit while Autel limps along and Parrot jerks off in the corner doing nothing
DJI is going to be in control of this market forever aren't they?
Holy shit people weren't lying when they said dji is the uav equivalent of apple. What's their secret to brainwash their consoomers into militant unpaid shills?
Brand name recognition. I own zero Apple or DJI products (or zero drones at all), but I couldn't name another drone manufacturer.
I've used quite a few drones and 2 / 3 drones I own are DJIs for a reason.
People who use the word "shill" are almost universally poverty ridden morons. DJI dominates the market because it's just better, exactly like Apple.
They are far better than the rest based on specs and price. Apple comparison isn't even valid in this case. They have massive tech advantage when it comes to image sensors and lenses on their drones. Imagine Apple with today's phones, competing to everyone else that is on twelve year old tech, while the prices are the same. They do some questionable shit, like forcing you to buy new pro controllers, and their batteries can drain into being bricked if left uncharged for longer periods, but they simply are the best. You get inch sized sensor, with f1.8 lenses, and working aperture on Mavic 2 that was released in 2018! Nobody has anything comparable even today.
if you lived in a big city like Manhattan you could use drones to sell drugs to rich people who do venture the streets for thier drugs. >Preprogram the drone and forget it!
Sounds like it's a screaming good deal for what you get.
https://www.xiaomist.com/2020/08/thanks-to-dji-updates-mavic-mini-is.html
ah it looks to be discontinued
it is but support and parts are **very** plentiful.
you could have 3 of these for the cost of a new one if you aren't afraid of salvaging some for pennies on the dollar.
I got a mavic mini 3 a couple weeks ago, it a lot of fun. At ~60-70m alt you can't hear it and you can't really see it unless you know exactly where to look.
That's something to consider. I got a screaming deal on one with a gimbal that "occasionally binds up" so I'll be modding/repairing it ASAP.
The intent is to have something for recon but I also like taking pics.
I wonder if other gimbal replacements exist...

Seyboys will be happy with dji level performance and pay dji prices. israeli congressmen will take bribes to allow Chinese filth product to be sold in USA. So we don't get a cool American consumer drone.
>There is no western competitor to DJI.
Autel evo 2 from the US, fricking mongoloid
Autel is a chinese company though
Autel is Chinese you dumb frick.
See
Autel is chink.
Only western manufacturer that makes semi decent drones is french parrot, they're not dji good but also not bad.
They israelite the shit out of burger govt with their drones because govt agencies are banned from using dji and autel so parrot has monopoly on that market.
>because govt agencies are banned from using dji and autel
buying, not using.
Most of the DJI drones in USAF and BLM service are still flying because of the "irreplaceable" escape clause in the legislation.
this is a hilarious amount of copium.
>Point out blatant fact that China holds no groundbreaking patents in mainstream drone tech
>c-cope!
Shitskin projection is unreal
So why are DJIs better AND cheaper?
>Most of the price tag of new aircraft is actually to pay for the R&D
>Steal the R&D and make a copy
>It's cheaper
Magic...
address the better part.
DJI is cheaper because they own 75% of the market and thus benefit tremendously from economy of scale.
DJI owns Hasselblad, although I'm sure you don't even know what that is or what the ownership means for DJI.
>DJIs better
They aren't
>cheaper
They are.
It's chinkshit, that's why.
>DJIs aren't better
you're fricking moronic.
explain why I was able to fly to 500M with a fricking mini and regularly fly to the FAA ceiling with a Mavic.
Apparently you're fricking moronic.
That's easy to explain. You're a liar.
> Max Service Ceiling Above Sea Level
4000 m
Now post your source stating they can’t go above 40M.
>he believes specs sheet from the literal manufacturer's website
lol, lmao even
Still waiting.
I once saw an interview with a ukrainian drone operator who said they can't fly above 40m with a payload or else the drone has problems.
Doesn’t make any sense. Air density changes in 40 meters isn’t significant enough to cause lift problems. He might be worried about ELINT but most likely he/you is/are moronic.
Or you're just a liar.
I own 2 djis. You’re moronic.
>500M with a fricking mini
I did over 700 meters with my ancient totally stock DJI Spark.
I was signal limited.
You must have been in the middle of nowhere.
That's pretty impressive.
Transmission degrades for me above 500M where I live.
>They aren't
They have the best compact drones by far. The Mavic/Mini series are absolutely unrivaled.
>inb4 “haha u got 0.1 RMB and 1.5 social credit for that post! xD”
At all.
No the HIMARS is the workhorse of the conflict.
>Remote ID model
NO NO NO NO
DO NOT PASS GO
DO NOT COLLECT $200
You can disable that shit now thanks to this dumbass war.
I don't think so?. It's integral to the hardware and required by the FAA.
>off the shelf drone
kek, ngmi, lrn2solder
what's a good build list for a basic quad not for flying fast but just basic photography? something equivalent to a dji mini 3
dji mini 3
You won't be able to build one for less at their performance. In fact you won't be able to build one at all. There are no off shelf sensors and gimbals you can mount on a custom drone. Hoby domain right now is fooling around and wasting money for less performance on mid tier drones, fpv drones, and really big drones that you can't buy because of regulations.
🙁 I don't want the FAA/Chinese to track me though. Is RID still cracked?
Nobody is going to track you. Haven't you learned a thing from ukr war? They're too small to be detectable. You get some build in restrictions that don't allow you to fly next to airports, besides that just don't be stupid, and you can get away with a lot.
RID is always broadcasting though
If you want to take photos you'll have to buy dji.
If you want to fly/pilot you can build one yourself.
where is this?
>be in sparsely urban area
>at nighttime
>in foggy condition
>fly drone above fog
>*snap*
do you have an ND filter installed?
Yes but why?
It’s only for video
Just my shithole with some low lying fog.
True true but with DJI it's kinda risky to fly in fog, condensation gets over ground sensor and 500m up in the air drone starts thinking it's about to hit ground and doesn't want to descent anymore, it'll just hover in the same spot till battery dies and then fall from sky like a rock.
>you can’t override the ground limit
What model do you have?
>same spot till battery dies and then fall from sky like a rock.
What a piece of shit.
In most cases it will auto return. Remember, GPS has an altitude component.
ground sensor trigger overrides gps.
like I said, this happens only if you're flying through thick fog or rain which no normal person would do anyways.
Word. Acro is way more fun too.
>dies in a light rain
>>dies in a light rain
what is conformal coating?
Why buy chinese drones when you can just build one yourself? There's a frickton of tutorials out there
because it's better and cheaper than whatever ghetto illegal shit you can make?
You're either a fed or moronic
Jesus Christ anon
I'm going with 'tarded, but I hope he's just trolling.
Mavic has the best camera with stabilization and tracking you can't replace this shit easily
How much did it cost?
I want to get one but all the fpv setups are expensive as frick
frame: ~20 (Steele 5 on ali)
motors: ~62 Flight XING-E Pro 2207 2207 1800KV
FC/ESC: mamba F405 stack for ~80
some 3 bladed props
the 18650 are reclaimed VTC6 cells that are ~5 bucks each
receiver, VTX and antenna i had laying around. would recommend a second hand TBS Unify pro32 HV tho
only luxury i put on it is a "star light cam". some very sensitive on so i can fly at night
>Everyone shits on drones for being overhyped and not that effective
>Garand Thumb releases video on DJI drones in combat
>a million threads about drones and anti drone ideas
You're all fricking sheep, this wasn't even a hard one to see
I don't watch garand thumb and i have no idea of what you're talking about, i mostly watch Spongebob episodes on YouTube
They are just hypebeast brainlets. The only good they provide the community is used parts and equipment when the NEWTHING comes out every 6 months. Anyone with a brain realized the value of small drones years ago.
This.
Drones are great, now there will be an abundance of cheap drones in a few months, thanks Garand daddy
what are you even talking about
/k/ has been gawking over homebrew drone strikes ever since ISIS started releasing all those frag videos
I knew people who were dogfighting with rc bi-planes using remotely triggered bottle rockets two decades ago
one of those guys founded a drone company and did really well for himself, although I think he ended up making media focused drones
>no western company has unveiled a FPV drone that's better than the home made ones
Wtf?
>the reliable workhorse
What's with all the slant eyed ching chongs here? I thought the PRC banned PrepHole from their browser search
Why were the Chinks ahead of the US in consumer drones for so long anyways? I'm legitimately curious. (THOUGH it does looks like we might be catching up with Skydio at least)
Only ahead in terms of price. You don't hear about the US drone manufacturers because they are commercial and prosumer range stuff.
what other COTS drones are out there that are on the DJI level?
Parrot:
https://www.parrot.com/us/drones
Skydio:
https://www.skydio.com/
There are others, but Parrot was the first to come to mind.
bless
(No, Samsung wasn't a threat).
>least 2x the price of a DJI.
Is everyone out today illiterate and assblasted? I wonder if I addressed this facet in my original post?
very convenient for you to miss the part of
>they fricking suck
If you wanna talk about fricking literacy, maybe look in a fricking mirror, dipshit.
You are talking to a chinksect, my friend. They have a habit of chimping out like low IQ Black folk every time someone doesn't kiss their ass and agreeing with everything they say, you can clearly see the difference between a civilized human being and a Han monkey from the way they talk alone.
>stupid homosexuals gets BTFO left and right by hobby and professional users
>gets bootyblasted to hell
>c-c-c-c-chinks!!!11!111one!
gtfo
Serious question Chang, why are you always so angry all the time?
because I can't tolerate willful ignorance and rampant stupidity. And I won't.
Dont spy on your own country, you end up like her.
Probably has the same iq as the average American, and better at math
regulations
wrong.
three
Awww little chinkshit shill is mad.
DJI products are cheap(which is all that matters to people like you), their performance is no better than parrot's drone of equivalent specifications.
>their performance is no better than parrot's drone of equivalent specifications.
NTA, but you're full of shit.
Post your drones. Go ahead.
Post the bad parrots you don't have any evidence for.
Post your fricking drones b***h.
KYS.
Yes let's all post our drones, with our guns, and precious metals stack, and crypto portfolio guys! It will be fun!
You are brown
You are a cuck who loves israelites and also Black folk.
Imagine the sheer insecurity, homosexualry, and stupidity one must possess to make that image. Then image someone who unironically posts it to try to make a point.
Yikes…
I'm considering a Mavic Mini... is there any reason why I should save my money and get a bigger Mavic Pro or something?
Honestly, not really, unless you want to play around with a payload hook. My mavic pro can fly reasonably happily with 500 grams of shit strapped to it. It'll take off with 750 and fly, but it's pissed.
I'm mostly considering it for recon/scouting also to get one before they get too expensive.
Mini is fine.
I have a DJI Air2s and these things are as easy to use as any RC car. I take mine out when I go hiking or shooting to scout new areas.
More DJI Air2s shots
I'm more of a smog person.
That is frickin cool!
DJI Air2s
sunsets never get old...
shoot in raw and do post proc, my man.
Apparently it cannot fly higher than 40m without the engines overheating.
took this with a mavic air 2.
I love diz homie like you wouldn't believe.
anyone who thinks DJIs aren't GOAT are either fricking shitposters or morons. Probably both.
what's the possibility of a drone being affected by some remote killswitch?
No such thing other than jammer which will make it just hover in one spot till battery gets depleted and based on how high it was either do a soft landing or fall out of sky.
I was digging through docs to figure out if there was anything...
doesn't look like it
https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/remote_id
https://www.dji.com/newsroom/news/dji-top-drone-models-approved-faa-remote-id
Yeah.
They’re much more capable now. DJI truly are COTS marvels.
$600 for a refurb https://store.dji.com/product/dji-mini-3-pro-refurbished-unit?from=pages-refurbished&vid=127101
>mini 3 pro
enjoy your remoteID compliant device anon
surely there is a circuit trace you can scratch off to disable the RID antenna easily
>Chinese backdoors
You can use it completely offline and only swap sd card into computer if that's needed to keep your schizo paranoia at bay tho I don't care as long as it doesn't phone back to EU/US authorities.
Chinks couldn't care less what I do with a drone.
Only shitty thing dji does is drm in batteries.
anyone with a smartphone can download a RID sniffing app and see the location, serial number, type, altitude of any RID drone.
a lot of which have bad reviews and don't work for shit.
Prometheus.
>Skydio still doing the "SORRY GOVERNMENT ONLY" shit for their only drone models that aren't complete and utter shit while Autel limps along and Parrot jerks off in the corner doing nothing
DJI is going to be in control of this market forever aren't they?
There is nothing wrong with that.
DJI is KING.
>DJI so cheap!!!
It would be a real shame if western corps/govs did to Chinese drones what they did to Chinese guns.
I would riot.
Where is this?
>Preprogram the drone and forget it!
picking up a mavic mini cause they're cheap I wanna see what this droneshit is all about
you mean the regular mini SE/2/3/Pro whatever? the mavic doesnt have a mini version
???
ah it looks to be discontinued
Worth gambling, imho.
mini 2 is superior in every spec it looks like, I might get a refurbed one
Sounds like it's a screaming good deal for what you get.
https://www.xiaomist.com/2020/08/thanks-to-dji-updates-mavic-mini-is.html
it is but support and parts are **very** plentiful.
you could have 3 of these for the cost of a new one if you aren't afraid of salvaging some for pennies on the dollar.
It was called mavic mini before the mini 2 came out
I got a mavic mini 3 a couple weeks ago, it a lot of fun. At ~60-70m alt you can't hear it and you can't really see it unless you know exactly where to look.
I would have got a mini but a Mini 2 is coming because I want to at least fart around with taking some RAW photos.
If you want truly good photos, start saving for the one with Hasselblad lenses.
Actually hasselblad’s custom dynamic color engine.
>Hasselblad
These cameras are very expensive.
That's something to consider. I got a screaming deal on one with a gimbal that "occasionally binds up" so I'll be modding/repairing it ASAP.
The intent is to have something for recon but I also like taking pics.
I wonder if other gimbal replacements exist...
>intercept russian call while also drone dropping them at the same time
yeah, we've all seen that one.
DJI is:
KING
I
N
G
the front of the drone looks like a frog holding a box
