DIY laptop rope hinge

Hinges broke on my laptop. Made an improvisation (pic related). Whats a nifty knot or contraption that I can stick in this rope that I can spin to change the length and hence angle of the monitor?

Im thinking some sort of thin stick with grooves in it I can tie the rope to and spin or something to change the draw of the rope but cant figure something out.

Any ideas?

    how fricking trashy

you're looking for a taut-line knot but idk how well it will work for such a small piece of string

Yes it is trashy, but functional.

And yea that taut-line knot is like magic. Ill try to find some thicker rope and try it out.

Other alternatives were some sort of adjustable sliding tension hinge made of metal or some sort of knob / button you can wrap the rope around to manually tighten (idk the name).

It’s either the taut line hitch or get a tent cord tensioner, which is a small piece of wood or metal with two holes in it. Woulda uploaded a pic, but I’m being accused of using incognito mode. Just search for “tent cord tensioner.

Too poor to afford a new bezel, but yet you're looking at $90 wine?

My DiY advice would be to look into something telescopic/pneumatic like a storm/screen door closer. No idea how you would fasten it

Mad love for Velco on my part and in that case I'd do what I did and use a piece of scrap aluminum bent behind the notebook at the desired angle Velcro'ed to the computer base. That props the screen from behind.

just do a 120 degrees angle on a flat piece of metal , put it under your piece of crap pc , weight of the pc will hold your screen in place , modify the angle of the screen by augmenting or decreasing the flat metal piece angle , no need for cords
