          Anonymous

Well the market is wide open for you to make the same thing on your CNC and undercut them anon.

Why not get a UTG Pro quad rail made out of the same type of aluminum as Daniel Goyfence for $150 cheaper? Unless you want to argue that 0.1 oz of weight makes a difference or that the 6061-T6 DD uses is ackshully inferior to the 6061-T6 UTG uses.

UTG makes literal, unironic trash that's not even worthy of a Walmart airsoft gun. I made the stupid mistake of buying one of their magnifiers a decade ago when I was a stupid newguns, and a single round of .223 was enough shock to knock it way off zero. If UTG makes one of these I wouldn't trust them not to blatantly lie about the materials and use the worst chink pot metal, and half the rail slots would be so out of spec that nothing would fit in them.

            Anonymous

UTG's airshit =/= UTG Pro. Also, Chinese manufacturing is on par with American at this point, if not unironically better. A block of Chinese 6061 is not going to be different from an American block of 6061, nor is the price difference enough for a company to try and use Chinese in place of American if they advertise it as American aluminum. Companies like DD and MI don't have some sort of "secret sauce", they simply get military contracts because they're American and can charge more since the govt is paying, and in turn makes their product more desirable so they can sell it at higher prices. It's the buyers that pass off their headcanon as reality that these companies are absolute state of the art facilities that have manufacturing tolerances in the micron range. And let's not forget the simple fact real life operators have stacked thousands of bodies with milspec plastic clamshell handguards on their M4s.

              >A block of Chinese 6061 is not going to be different from an American block of 6061
Except the American 6061 is actually going to be 6061
              >Companies like DD and MI don't have some sort of "secret sauce", they simply get military contracts because they're American and can charge more since the govt is paying
This may be true to an extent but American shit is also infinitely more likely to be better quality and actually more in spec than Chinese shit. Even the best Chinese shit comes from American companies who make sure that the Chinese stuff is not complete dogshit.
That’s not to say that every expensive American product is worth it, or that all Chinese shit is complete garbage, but to say that they’re absolute equals at this point is either coping or noguns.

You could ask the manufacturer where they source their aluminum for the real truth. Aluminum from a reputable Chinese company with a history of satisfied customers is only going to be slightly cheaper and exactly the same. It's not a hard rule that American will always be better than Chinese. The pay range and application requirements for the floor workers at companies like DD and MI will tell the real truth more than anything really. If they're making less than $25/hr you can bet your ass there's gonna be a "frick it, send it it's Friday" attitude amongst the staff if the tolerances of a finished product are a little out of spec. I still stand by the fact UTG's Pro line is good shit and a good way to save money on a build.

It is also the most easily installable rail that doesn’t flex and is free floated

quad rails are pretty much ascetic only useful M-loc exists and is better in every single way.

If you want to spend $200 for extra weight and less performance go for it I am sure it is built good.

Quad rails don’t heat up as fast. All my ar’s have either dd or hodge mlock rails but I’ve never seen attachments loosen on pic rails and in classes I’ve seen peoples mlock lights and grips come lose. Larger sample size and people not knowing how to mount shit? Maybe but it’s what I’ve seen

That isn't a convention anywhere but the modern army. Having the union in the top left is perfectly fine in any instance. Picrel.

the weight difference is negligible in many cases. picatinny is stronger, less finicky, and is grippy.
      >inb4 erm it's uncomfortable
I have soft skin and my M4 RAS doesn't hurt my hands at all. if you have a sharp rail that's not a picatinny problem, it's the manufacturer's fault for leaving sharp edges

I've got a boomer-spec Colt that I've been considering getting a DD omega for. I've also kicked around the idea of spending a bit more and just getting the KAC quad rail so I can say I have a true m4gery. Any anons have experience with either? Is the DD fine or should I spend the extra and just go KAC?

      Anonymous

If you can find the omega on sale for less than 2 hundo beans I'd do that.
Otherwise if you're paying full price for one I don't see any reason not to just pay the extra 70$ or whatever and get a kac unit on GB from some guy just for the name.
I think they're pretty much going to be same quality and effectiveness either way

My KAC M4 RAS was $180 lol you homosexuals need to figure out how to shop around. The P&S ones regularly go for even less and frickin Primary Arms was selling white label P&S rails under their Expo Arms brand for like $120 for a big chunk of 2023.

Yeah if you don't mind the bulk. As far as I know this is the only drop in that converts your rail into a free float. Not even the M4 RAS is completely solid as only the top half is tension secured.

Samson offers a drop in free float rail too, you need to remove the delta ring to install.

I have a one on a middy with a folding fsb. Its one of the few rails made for an fsb thats why I use it. For 200ish I say grab it. Easy to install, and uninstall to clean barrel. looks good. Lighter than my BCM QRF.
