Czechs wanna get 70 new Leopard 2A8s

Hadn't heard anything about that before. Are the new tanks cool?

apparently the A8 is based on the A7HU and includes Eurotrophy as standard. I hope remote weapon station is included too but I don't expect it.

There's already 2 different A8 versions, the A8 for Germany that is based on the A7HU and the APS from the A7A1, and the A8 NOR which are factory fresh hulls and turrets with KDA BMS and the Trophy MV, but no RWS

Why isn't anyone buying the Panther? KMW say they'll build it if someone orders it.

yes but that's primarily for maintaining German vehicles that have alreary been sent to Ukraine

KMW usually develops things through with parts that can be sourced from nations that won't suddenly be labeled as unfriendly.
It also has the same powertrain as the L2 so we at least won't see it being towed away from a parade

It's still a few years away from being able to be mass produced. There is also a theory that there isn't presently capacity for it to be built at any current German factories now that people are bulk ordering Leopards again. IIRC, Rheinmetall had offered to set up joint production facilities for the Panther in Ukraine, Hungary and South America to get the ball rolling.

Armata doesn't exist, so 120mm still does just fine.

      It's a prototype turret on a Leo 2 chassis.
No one knows if it is actually finished or if they are still testing and iterating.
Also it's developed and build by Rheinmetall not KMW.

More tanks build means less cost per tank.
Reminder that the taxpayer will pay for it.

To bad they're all locked-down garbage though. They're like 60 ton IMacs. Autistic krauts don't want any client state messing with their teutonic perfection, so any addons have to be approved and done by KWM,

Meanwhile K2 is open-architecture. If an operator comes up with a new system they can just drop it in, maybe install a software update and it'll work.

In the past. Germany now doesn't care and even encourages it. Canada, Chile, Sweden and others have their own upgrade programs going on nownand Germuttny is openly facilitating it.

it's asshurt Poles and moron shills pushing lies. There are various national modifications of Leo 2, even license production, in Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, etc.

because they're not asshurt like Poles and thus go for the logical product that all other Euros use reliably for decades

But there is certainly no technology transfer for any Leo. Thats why Poland went with the K2.

there is no tech transfer agreed upon for the K2 yet either. As of now, Poland just ordered Abrams and K2. K2PL with tech transfer was widely announced, but there is no such deal so far.

          Baby got back.

I'm sayin' that in a Good Way. That buttwing creates several options that could be very serious practical battlefield tactical advantages. Slightly increased deflection/safety for everyone else nearby. The extra deflection angle also creates a bit of extra space for equipment of various sorts, even a few extra rounds of ammo would be an advantage.

South Korea has spent their bribe money on PiS 4chaniticians.
Which is a good thing, as other countries might now be able to think what is best for country and king instead of whats best for bank account and future jobs in the MIC.
The fact that Germany had to rescind it's credits to Poland for K2 production because of it speaks volumes. The moron deals will fall apart, mark my words. There are real patriots in Poland and they are next in line. They will pick the best and they will pick the strongest partner for their countries future.
Or maybe they pick the US, but that's fine too.

Lithuania, Italy and Netherlands have also mentioned interest. So the framework is probably going to get expanded. Italy alone needs 200 tanks to replace all their Arietes.
