Czech Gov't Announces Biggest Single Purchase Ever: Fleet Of F-35 Stealth Jets

Looks like the Czech are getting the F-35 now too, the US is going all out in surrounding Russia with F-35s now huh?

>Defence Minister Jana Černochová and US Ambassador to the Czech Republic Bijan Sabet on Monday signed an agreement on the purchase of 24 fifth-generation F-35s for the Czech military. Czechia will pay CZK 150 billion for the fighter jets made by the US manufacturer Lockheed Martin, the most expensive military purchase in the country’s modern history. The first jets should arrive in the country in 2031, the rest will be delivered by 2035. The US aircraft will replace the Swedish Gripen fighters, which Czechia now leases for CZK 1.7 billion a year. The government approved the purchase at the end of last year.

For. Russia is somehow champions for the developing world because they stand against the west which is exploiting the developing world without consequence. Enemy of my enemy is my friend. But they get it in their heads this is a clear sign of actual friendship and not just a coincidence. Russia isn't standing up for them, Russia is just another bully acting in their own interests. Then the hyper delusional leftypol Russia fans are convinced that Russia is super secret actually going to become commie again and lead a revolution. Or something.

Until the UK commits to an order of ~17+ (which they likely will soon) Finland IS the current 2nd largest F-35 purchaser in Europe at 64.

                Italy is number 1.

And if we're going by currently ACTIVE F-35 fleets, Finland wont even get their first delivery until 2026 whereas other European nations have been operating F-35s for years already.

On 23 March, the First Sea Lord reportedly estimated that the final fleet will total between 60 and 80 aircraft.

Finland isn't the 2nd largest purchaser.

Japan has 147 in total ordered
      Australia has 72
      Canada ordered 88
Israel has 75 ordered with another planned 50, for 125 total. (after the Oct 7th attack they're talking about an additional 2 squadrons of 25 F-35s each on top of the 3rd squadron of 25 ordered in July to add to their original order of 50 (two squadrons of 25) )
Italy technically has 90 F-35s ordered, though they've deferred delivery for most of them for later production (more included upgrades)a nd cut the original order from 131 to the current 90.

But yeah, no matter how you slice it, Finland was never the "second biggest purchaser" of the F-35.

That's a very specific thing you just flat-out didn't say. Words have meaning and if you wish to convey a specific meaning (in this case, specifically about F-35 purchasers WITHIN europe) you need to actually USE THE WORDS that convey your meaning.

NATO membership sometimes means taking part in wars outside of your country.
Members pledge to spend at least 2% of GDP on military.
Spending it on multi-role fighters gives you the best value for money because you can deploy them anywhere in the world at short notice and they're a great force multiplier.

That's because the UK has at EVERY opportunity refused to purchase real numbers of F-35s.

Basically every nation that ordered early has at least a dozen or two F-35s, some countries with multiple dozens.

Though the US does seem willing to let certain countries skip ahead in line (Canada buying 88 F-35s in 2023 with deliveries starting in 2026 and finished by 2033/34)

its goofy to the point of childish comedy to think even a fraction of a fraction of that will be delivered, when the US cant even keep its own f35's in the air, let alone supporting 500+ other airframes distributed across 3 continents

More accurately, "černochová" means "black's woman", "černoška" would be "black woman".
-ová is feminine possessive suffix, common when married woman takes husband's surname (similar to russian -ova)
-ška or -čka is suffix making feminine version of masculine word (eg. female variant of profession)

-ová is feminine possessive suffix, common when married woman takes husband's surname (similar to russian -ova)
I think that, if properly localized to English, the surname would be Černoch, as feminine forms of surnames do not exist in that language. So her name would be better translated as "Black man", rather than "Black's"

But I am talking out of my ass here, I'm not a linguist

Černoch: black (person of African descent, of dark complexion)(masculine)
        ova: belonging to.
Some additional cultural considerations, literally every Czech woman’s name ends in ova by law. If your name was for example, Jan Novak, and you had a daughter, her last name would be Novakova, and if she gets married later to a guy with the last name Semen, then she will be Semenova (another real name).
So, its makes sense to think of “ova” as belonging to the family of in this case.

I'm quite certain the suffix was always optional.
It became a big no-no to NOT use the suffix after WWII because it just screamed "German".
But after y2k leaving the suffix out became increasingly commonplace.

They're leasing their current planes from Sweden, so Sweden would need to agree to the transfer.

      >Sweden joins NATO
      >NATO troops are secretly operating in Ukraine under the command of Boris Johnson aka Big BJ
      >Boris and CZ send Jet fighters to Ukraine (in secret) to bomb Russian aircraft and shoot down Russian static assets
      >traitorous Ukie POWs are killed in cargo aircraft everywhere
      >Russian troops are demoralized their so called brothers are killed by treacherous NATO d-bags
      >they retreat back to Russia in tears
      >NATO wins

All I can think of is Perturbator's "Sexualised" rolling over the dreary winter Czechian lanscape as those things fly overhead.

Surely the F-35's tune should be "sexualiser"

How manu Su-57’s Russia needs to produce to stay competitive in European air war?

      Anonymous

That's the best part. They can't. The F35 line isn't particularly fast but it's making roughly 120 planes a year. The most recent batch of SU57s, if you believe Russia was about 5. I for one think they just painted new numbers on.

Austria is not in NATO. And Austrians have long history of annexing Czech lands going all the way back to Austria-Hungary Empire. Never know when one of them thinks to try again....
On more serious not, Czech rep needs some jets for enforcing restricted airspace around nuclear plants (strict no-fly zones) and other such key infrastructure (less strict).
On even more serious note, any big purchases government makes are results of lobby and bribes, and War in Ukraine is great excuse to make it sound justified for general public.

24 jets for about 6 billion dollars. While Finns got 64 for 10 billion. They got shafted.

Why doesn’t the USAF or USN trust its pilots? The red tape causes more accidents than it prevents.
