Alot of deaths in Afghanistan were due to none military factora like starvation or inadequate medical care, which is common in warzones. Along with a surge in crimes/sectarian violence. Those figures came from that, pretty sure a small percentage actually came from military actions like air strikes or some dumbass massacring a village.

There’s very little actual first hand documentation about some AOs. My CO banned use of cellphones and any recording devices. We still got some stuff but it’s all just pictures of landscape, us doing joe shit around the FOB and some local kids who liked being in pictures. If serious weird shit was going down nobody was documenting it. My truck was blown up and not a single picture exists of the big ass crater. If you asked me for proof I couldn’t give you any that I personally have and I wouldn’t know how to get any proof of it from any kind of army records.

They were pretty irritating, they’d come to the COP from BDE or higher elements and bop around for an hour to take photos and leave. Those ones were ugly but I still remember how they smelled since we had no women stationed with us.
