You'll screw it up the first time too, so buy a second new screen

Then buy two other screens from other shady manufacturers and realize that you have spent a bunch of money on three screens that each have their own quality issues, until you decide to live with the best one of them until a year has passed so you get a false feeling of it all being worth it, just to end up buying a new phone and spend even more money than you would if you just bought a new phone from the beginning.

Btw, I understand this isn't what usually happens, my phone just seems to have zero good replacement screens out there unlike my past phones and It's really annoying to me

Depends if its just the exterior glass then its cheap but if the actual touchscreen slate underneath its cheaper to buy a new phone. Touchscreens start at around £150 and require more tools and proper calibration.

The exterior glass is the touch screen unless you put a screen protector on it...
The lcd display is below, I replaced the digitizer on my iPad, was like 50 bucks

If you don't already have the tools, it's probably cheaper and faster to have it done at a shop.

There are literally tens of thousands of listings of parts to repair phones. Many have kits with tools to do the job.

If you can get the entire screen digitizer and backlight assembly in one piece, it's not bad. If the frame is plastic or glass, you are in luck and it's an easy job. If it's a glass back piece of shit, do what the mfg intended and throw it away and buy a new one. Most glass backed phones have adhesive that takes high temps to melt. Since you didn't give any specifics about the phone, I assume this is all out of your depth.

you have to buy the same screen for that exact phone which may not exist as manufacturers have decreased production to meet typical demand of original product so less old new stock screens. if its a old 2.5g phone you might not be able to find a replacement screen for instance

In my case, it was cheaper to have it done in a shop than it was to do it myself. Screens for a pixel 5a were like $160 usd online, and the shop quoted $155. Ask a local repair shop to quote it, may save you a bit of money and time.

Probably a smart repair shop and he has a guy setup that gives him some money back for cracked screens.

Its possible to replace the glass, it's just a pain in the ass.
