No, but the flare is much much closer >If it they were YOU would also be blinded
Flare frog doesn't have or need nods
Military 155mm illum rounds are barely brighter than an old streetlight. If the adversary uses camouflage or even just breaks line of sight by dropping to the deck, you will still struggle bus finding anyone. poors shouldn't focus purely on overmatch when it's already dark. Proper preparation in the daytime will significantly increase the odds of success. setting up early warning detection such as empty cans and a string, digging/concealing holes to break ankles, cutting up and displacing brambles in blind spots to funnel the enemy. This is far more effective than purely reacting when you're already on the back-foot.

Same, take the stupid mask off your face and put down the airsoft homosexual
Is there even a readily available flare that does this? The only one I’ve seen was some guy who had a commercial one sold to him under the table. Normal flares won’t do this. This whole “I’ll just use an illum flare” poorgays use falls flat because no one owns them.
Oof, with 95 dollar shipping. I guess not the worst, but then again for 180 bucks you only get 30 seconds to engage all targets and you better hope you don’t need another…
Seems like this would be a lot better for your night sentry to have so people sleeping have 30 seconds to put nods on and return fire before things go dark again rather than be a peer to nv.
>It would probably fry the nods
no it wouldn't, its called autogating >AND the retinas tbh.
how? the output lens on the NVGs is not going to be brighter than the LEDs on the flashlight
Yes, powerful white light is the best idea a poor can have.
However, it's not like you think.
Night vision adapts to the lighting conditions very quickly. They will just adapt or if the light is too strong, flip it off and use their own white light.
The best you can hope for is a fight on even terms. The reality is that you're going to start blasting everything with insane amounts of light and draw the wrong crowd.
A better solution would be to save $1,000 and buy a thermal scope and be part of a team that includes night vision
>poorgay flips on his illuminator >you're fumbling with your goggles when 8 hollow points impact your pelvic girdle >grunting and spasming, you hold your hand up to block out the light as the last round goes through your skull
If somebody cuts a light like that on with you inside 100 yards, they have a pretty good chance of getting you. 5 guys with rifles and 1 with a stupid light could be dangerous as hell
Look at the 100,000 lumen light pointed directly at your face in an otherwise dark area while your eyes are adjusted to nod-o-vision?
Might not be the best plan for visibility.
>Inna woods hear noise >flips on flashlight >oh shit I'm sorry >sorry for what? Our anons thought us not be ashamed of our flachlights. Some of those "tactical" flashlights have a strobe mode where they flash like 10 times a second (if not more), would modern NVGs be able to adapt to that?
>Night vision adapts to the lighting conditions very quickly.
What if the light was strobing?
I would not expect the autogate feature to really care about strobe.
The utility of the feature is debatable in general but it is annoying and it does save some battery power lol.
The Ebay one I have does one flash per second or another mode that does it at random slower intervals with random flickers. I don't know what the intended purpose of them is for, second mode is kind of spooky when I use it in a dark room.
that's obviously SOS, but I have what some call an "enthusiast flashlight" (Sofirn IF25A) that among many other things actually does a "thunderstorm mode" with flashes of random occurrence and intensity.
also has a strobe where you can freely ramp the frequency up and down, which for example can be used to visually stop the rotation of a fan.
ultimately you end up not using these gimmicks in your daily life, but the fact that it's compact despite its big battery, tells you the voltage and can smoothly increase the brightness from 1 (or something thereabout, dim enough to not be unpleasant even when looking directly into it, kind of like the light of an optician) to over 3000 lumen is great and why I bought it.
unsolicited flashlight review over.
On the contrary it seems like a good portion of people here who have money for NVG and thermals don't actually go outside or they'll post their equipment and rifles inside their home but only take the goggles out to look at the stars.
Really all of this is highly situational anyway. If you were to do this in an open field from outside 50 yards, the nods will autogate and the nodCHAD will hit the dirt, flip up the nods, and shoot the lighthouse in the dark. A white light outside shining in the dark is the easiest target to shoot at
Yeah you just shoot the light though. It just looks like a small dot in the darkness outside 50 yards
I'm assuming combat flares have a delayed fuse so you couldn't tell where they were fired from, maybe a feint smoke trail being illuminated from the light burst would give it away though.
None of the poors have parachute flares. At BEST they have road flares
Do video games get auto-gating wrong? I’ve heard NVG users say muh autogating so much but then I try to operate in games like Tarkov and a small desk lamp ruins my image quality like staring at the sun
It's highly dependent on the environment and the equipment, no video game gets nods remotely accurate though

From 7 yards sure, it will autogate them. From 50 or more yards it's either going to be too diffused to do anything or it's going to be too focused for you to actually keep it on me consistently assuming you even find me. Focused beams suck ass at searching for targets. So if you already know I'm there before you even shine the light just fricking shoot instead of dicking around with some chink light

We don't have to do any believing. Go into a park at night with a friend. Have him stand just 100m away. Try to find him with a flashlight. He doesn't even need NODs.
As soon as you see him and yell bang, you win. As soon as he sees you and yells bang however, you lose. Every poorgay moron argument relies on having literally never once in your entire life used a flashlight. Actually go do it fricking moron. Go outside at night instead of pretending, and learn you can't actually just instantly find what you're looking for, but everybody else can instantly see you as soon as you turn a light on.
>he doesn't have light traps set up that can be activated by remote >or a light beam drone

Nonods coping is always hilarious because it's always based on some bullshit fuddlore they saw in a movie or videogame. You can use nods in full brightness daylight without diminished image quality, it's just bad for the tubes. A very bright white light doesn't counteract nods. Absolute best-case scenario it puts you on even footing with an NV-equipped adversary and that's if you manage to directly spotlight them and they don't have buddies, because if you flip that thing on for more than a second or two you are now a massive target for every single hostile within a half mile that has line-of-sight on your position.
Conversely, nods are a massive leg up but they don't make a person invincible, and poor IR discipline due to underestimating adversary capability got plenty of coalition personnel killed in iraq and afghanistan.
In both cases having good light discipline and at least a squad-size element of dudes is gonna affect your survivability more than whether or not you as an individual could afford night vision, but all things being equal (this is literally never the case btw) the guys with nods beat the guys without them more times than not.
Of course, your average /k/ommando (and frankly your average american male) has what 0-2 close friends with the majority being closer to the 0 end of the spectrum, according to studies, so they always tie this shit to individual purchase choices because they'd rather buy shit than doing the difficult, vulnerable work of finding 3 buddies that are down to go do this shit with them.
no, running is. >it's dark >you're taking fire from someone you cannot see at all from an unknown location at an unknown distance >they can see you
do you >A
Literally turn on a spotlight and give away your exact position so they can line up the perfect shot and kill you, while you still have to look and find the person shooting at you >B
Break contact
For the amount of time and money that it would take to set that up, you could have just bought your own night vision and then you wouldn't need to cope.
>poors best chance >costs three figures
Sounds about right, poors have no chance.
But speaking more broadly -- the effectiveness of white lights to neutralize NVG advantage is tremendously dependent on the scenario.
As for a $700 toy that blinds people in one narrow cone, while drawing fire to the poor guy holding it from every other angle, let's just say that's useful in a very limited set of scenarios.
But you take that same $700 and spent it on several dozen floodlights (assuming you're preparing to defend a fixed location), and set them up blasting outward in every direction, while leaving dark shadows below/behind them for you and your friends, on the other hand...
Night vision actually protects your eyes from bright lights by autogating, and the bright lights don't damage the nods at all, it protects your eyes from getting btfo by the bright light, it's actually worse to not have a nod on and have someone shine a bright light at you
Night vision actually protects your eyes from bright lights by autogating, and the bright lights don't damage the nods at all, it protects your eyes from getting btfo by the bright light, it's actually worse to not have a nod on and have someone shine a bright light at you
20:00
Autogating protects the tube from getting destroyed by bright light, additionally it preserves resolution in high light environments. Auto gain protects you from getting blinded
no nods believing they'll just magically teleport to where their adversary is, instead they had their flashlights on the entire time to navigate through the dark.
Unironically though, up the thread I alluded to coalition forces taking casualties due to poor IR discipline. What this looked like in practice was, for a lot of GWOT units would just leave their lasers on IR strobes on, confident in the fact that their enemy couldn't see any of it.
Except that, at least two incidents I'm aware of where insurgents simply removed the IR filter from a cheap digital camera. Which will not get you a usable head-mounted unit for navigation or fighting, but it will sure let you see those IR lasers and strobes. End result being those units taking heavy casualties either through ambushes or getting a mortar dropped on a roof etc.
From what I know about cheapo digital NV, that's sorta what I feel like it's good for: Static observation looking for poor IR and white light discipline to give away enemy positions. I think you'd be really outclassed by anybody running even subpar gen2 stuff the instant you tried to move or fight with it.
Please do not listen to the dogfricking moron, he loves wasting money and erroneously thinks it will make people think he's cool, when nothing ever will. Everyone in the nv general hates him and thinks he's stupid too.
For $3k you can get nicer shit than I used when I was in the army lol, just budget for a way to mount that shit to your head and optics and designators etc because there's a lot of supplementary cost to nods besides the device itself.
I'm not seeing any nods.....
Why would someone that doesn't own night vision try and give input on night vision?
That's like someone who doesn't own guns trying to tell someone what gun to buy, absolutely insane
I'd ask if this was gonna make you shut up and leave but I know it won't lmao.

Whoa everyone hates me?
Damn, that's crazy, you know what, you should post your night vision that you own
You should stop fricking dogs. And make an Instagram or something you constantly beg for attention like a god damn teenage girl
That's not me, buddy...
>That's not me, buddy...
Then why the frick did you reply?
You need some attention boy?
You asked me to post nods, I posted nods. That means we're done talking.
Thanks for reminding me to re-add all my trip filters btw
I never asked you to post nods, I asked
You seem to be confused?
Or maybe you just can't resist replying to me even when nobody fricking talked to you?
Doesn't modern nightvision just compensate for that nowadays?
I don't even know what type of scenario we're in for this thread, so it's not a civil war against the government but a free for all? Most of you are gonna die from diarrhea after eating raw squirrel, assuming you were smart enough to bring a .22 and not blow them into pieces with an AR.
A general collapse is more likely than a civil war at this point.
Then I'll be focusing my attention to hunting migrants at the border without repercussions rather than butting heads with kitted up autismos in the forests at night.
Lmao god damn dude you're fricking moronic.
kek
Yaaaaaawn, poor pvs14 owners are posting
Let me guess, green phos?
Anyway this is a great reminder to everyone that the "filter tripcode" function is maybe one of the best features ever built into this website and I highly recommend you utilize it to improve your PrepHole experience.
I see why you got so upset now, you got shit on by this post directly
It hurt you kek
> be poorgay
> find perfect hidey hole no one will find me sleeping in
> nod chads wandering around all night in the dark get tired, fall asleep in the morning
> Sneak up on nodchad sleeping and kill with a ball peen hammer in broad day light
Success
>I'm gonna murder people completely unprovoked to own the richgays
no wonder people with actual money stay the frick away from this board, Jesus.
No you don't get it, the ones with money are the larpers!
They have to be otherwise I'm actually just poor and have nothing cool!
I find it funny the "right" has made it "gigachad" and "based" to be dumb and poor
Only if im being hunted by psycho richgays who want to kill me. Otherwise Ill just stay at home and shitpost through the apocalypse
>what is auto-gating
