Russia has almost zero combat ability in the far east while the DPRK has almost twice as much rocket and tube artillery as Russia as a whole. The DPRK has a narrow front to deal with and easy supply lines.
If North Korea attacked Russia everything a thousand miles west of Vladivostok would fall. Russian retaliation would be confined to conventional means, atomic strikes would be returned by DPRK strikes so they will not happen and the DPRK has a superiority in chemical warfare so that is off the table as well.

North Korea literally can't even feed its own people, has countless people dying from Covid and they refuse any sort of vaccines/treatments for these people even from China now, and a huge chunk of the country outright hates the government and you expect anyone to actually send themselves to the meat grinder? Their actual army is most likely barely even able to defend their country let alone start an invasion of anyone. Even attacking South Korea would be a massive slaughter and they would at least have the logistics to deal with that.
It's pretty grim. Based on that incident where they shelled that South Korean island like 10 years ago their artillery has a 25% dud rate. The only thing their military is useful for is free labor on public works projects and locking down the locals.

This. It's also fair to say that DPRK leadership is more threatened by South Korea (and Japan and the US) than they are by Russia. DPRK can also skim from Russia and China more easily than they can from other regional partners, and seem to be happy providing slave labour, proxy scapegoatery and generally living off their status as a buffer zone.
That said, a situation where DPRK heads for Vladivostok could easily be spun into CCP peacekeeping forces having to occupy that region. If they somehow got as far as Khabarovsk...
