Yeah but they were $700 in like 2017 not that far back. Which was already overpriced considering the P30 had a $588 MSRP at the time and street prices below $500, with P2000s under $400
$900 in 2002 would have bought you a Dan Wesson or a P7M8.

HKucks are something to behold.
I would be extremely surprised if the USP manufacturing costs were more than double that of glock.
Case in point, there is no way the USPs mags cost more to manufacture than a glocks, but they cost 300% more.
HK wanted to replace the USP with the P2000, as well as discontinue the MK23. And then replace the P2000 with the P30. But they discovered that hardcore HK people will essentially spend unlimited amounts of money so they've kept them in production at whatever the market will bear. Look at HK forums--every year you get threads like "Here's my new 2023 USP next to the USPs I own from every year since 1993."
Which is a shame, since as time goes on the newer models get worse triggers and worse ergos for my hands. If they gave the USP a modern rail and dropped the price I'd be onboard.
The p30 technically has done the replacement when it comes to more official roles, but as you said the USP is popular so HK sell them for whatever people will pay for them, which gets more moronic every year
Got my LEO trade-in w/LEM trigger in .40 for $365 iirc pre-covid. It’s a 2002 manufacture with some scuffs, holster wear and pretty much dead night sights but I’d do it all over again for the price. >Thinking about doing the LEM/match hybrid conversion to see what the hype is about
Same, thanks GT Distributors! But you do not want to do the Match LEM hybrid trigger unless you want a range only gun. The take up is way too light and there is so much of it that you can easily break through the trigger wall unintentionally under stress. And you certainly will want to add the manual safety lever if you ever decided to carry it.
The match trigger and sear are OK to install but I would keep the heavier trigger spring and FPB spring. Hammer spring would depend on your preference.
For what it is and for the price it’s definitely worth experimenting with. Thanks for the feed back! Maybe the hybrid trigger with the safety might be the way to go, I’ll play with parts and see what’s what. I have CC’d it on occasion for shits n gigs
i fricked around moving the LEM from my HK45c to the USP one night.
Things I immediately noticed:
1. the HK45c in LEM was nice but the "feel" of the gun greatly improved when i took away the gimmicky LEM
2. the LEM on the USP made it feel lighter and hollow, missing controls really made the gun feel much cheaper.
3. LEM is shit and those parts are now in a ziplock bag at the back of my "frick these gun parts" drawer
LEM is USP is decent. I don't know what HK all changed when they moved on to the HK45 and P30 lineup but their out of the box LEM sucks ass. I have a P30L that started life as a V1 LEM and I HAD to change it or else I was going to have to sell the gun. Trigger was that bad. I spent the money on getting the V4.1 CDA parts and the Greyguns short reset and now my P30L is actually decent.
HK USP LEM = Good
HK45/30 LEM = Bad. Stick with DA/SA unless you want to toss more money into the gun to make it good.

The thing is most people won't train to that level and a short reset will let them dump rounds faster. Even outside of competition, that is fun. I absolutely prefer DA/SA but I'm not trying to empty a mag as fast as I can.

He literally says that short reset doesn't matter to anyone but top shelf shooters. Trigger reset literally does not matter unless it's stupid long. Even a DA reset isn't going to make a difference to anyone outside of a flat range.
You've sucked down a clueless opinion and now you're too emotionally invested in it to see it as the absolute nonsense that it really is. You are so psychologically incapable of admitting that your ideas are wrong, that being presented with reasoning that contradicts it from an authoritative source only makes you entrench more. This is absolutely wrong, sorry Anon. Shooting from reset is one of the biggest impediments to speed and also causes people to “short stroke” their trigger during follow up shots. They don’t let their trigger all the way out and waste time searching for that “click.”
Nobody teaches shoot from reset aside from boomers anymore for the same reason weaver stance and only using the absolute tip of your finger on the trigger have gone out of style, it’s an older and less efficient method.
You do you though if it’s the only way you’ll shoot.

You're the one still talking about people taking boomer classes and training with bad boomer habits. Pedantic thumb over bore type shit. A shorter reset sure as hell ain't making it harder to shoot faster.
Even during the COVID pandemic they weren't exactly commanding a premium. Everyone wanted a Glock or AR-15. I picked up a very nice condition USP45 in a straight trade for a $350 PSA kit gun while everyone was in lockdowns.
HK wanted to replace the USP with the P2000, as well as discontinue the MK23. And then replace the P2000 with the P30. They're still fine today. Dunno what all of you are babbling about. I'm saving up to buy a P30L anyway.
I'm mirin your P30L bruh. I used to own a USP 45 back then and I got the chance to test out a P30L and the model you currently own is exactly what I want. The only reason why I don't want older handguns anymore because I've been spoiled with the newer stuff.
I know what you mean the P30L just feels better in my hand than my HK45 V7 and USP45 V1 but they're not going anywhere, I love nostalgic old clunky shit like the S&W 469
https://i.imgur.com/dvD9sQD.jpg
I paid that for the Tactical. The rest were under $700.

I think it was two years ago now. Bought it new. Seems perfectly fine quality wise. The standard USP next to it is a first gen from 1994. They don't seem any different in quality.
Which caliber is the best USP experience.
Seems like 9 would be the best but for some reason it seems the 9mm usp gets the most hate.
I’ve always wanted the .45 one personally but I know I wouldn’t shoot it as much as I would if it were a 9.
HK45 > USP45 ergonomically but isn't as cool. iirc the usp was developed around .40
Does they "feel" less toyish than Glocks ? I mean polymer kinda feel ? Im glock45 poster above, never shot a HK, i'm considering buying an USP in 9mm.
Less toyish? No, maybe more so. Different polymers but mostly the same durability and UV resistance wear wise. They do feel slightly different in the textures, HK's frames are more flat and smooth in the non-textured areas while Glock frames are very lightly textured all over. I like both but all my Glocks are gen3 and whatever a 43 is

I strongly agree and I agree with everyone stating that this is companies artificially inflating prices. The only way I could see prices plummet, if popularity drops for these guns. But there could be other factors too.
I wouldn't but it is >durable >strong barrel >exclusive >military pedigree
If it happens to fit your hand just right and you don't plan to EDC it, then it would be a good choice.
I think it was two years ago now. Bought it new. Seems perfectly fine quality wise. The standard USP next to it is a first gen from 1994. They don't seem any different in quality.
SL8-6s, the newest version, are very nice rifles, I just bought one recently and I couldn’t be happier with it, the action is very smooth and breaks down into 3 parts for cleaning; upper, lower, and bolt group. Also comes with a very nice case, check out Tommybuilt for improved accessories for it.
Mags are really the only downside, nicely made but expensive and hard to load due to being single stack only, I found a bunch for $45.
Wait, so what would I need to convert it to double stack?
Magpul makes nice mags for them apparently, and they're normal double stack mags.
Great to hear that the current production ones are up to par with the best of the best that gets them their reputation.
[...]
For 1500, I'm sure you could build/buy a 20" upper that'll be 1 MOA or better with the right ammo.
I own a nice m4a1 clone Bcm with a socom profile barrel, i really don't care to own multiple ARs.
Own with a stack of magazines and a kit is good enough for me. Maybe I'll buy an extra upper for when or if this own burns out with my level of shooting but I doubt I will.
I want a real sweet tack driver out of the SL8 that I can use for really testing my aim and shooting skill rather than really optimizing some niche shooting situation with it.
>Wait, so what would I need to convert it to double stack?
Yes, the mags are single stack and you’d need to get Tommybuilt to convert it, but it depends on how far you want to go with it regarding cost. You can get away it for like $3-400 added cost to use G36/AR15 mags.
The mags are really just the bigger part I'm interested in. I'm not a clone autist.
How intrusive and invasive is the tommybuilt mag adaptation?
They plastic weld it apparently? That sounds so weak though.
Sorry was phoneposting on my last reply, i'm at my desktop now.
The mags indeed would be very nice to have an option for not gay capacity.
But it seems like Tommybuilt just makes their own American made bolts, and this is just my opinion, but 922r is 100% gay and israeli.
I don't want shit tier American parts in my guns, made by puerto rican homosexuals in Largo Florida.
The bolt would have to be replaced and the receiver cut and reshaped at minimum, which in my opinion is incredibly invasive and basically rapes the purity of the rifle as a reliable, German rifle.
I'd rather use 10 round mags with a clipped bolt than let some shit tier bolt explode in it after the rewelded receiver cracks.
I don't care if TommyBuilt has a pedigree, I had never heard of them until 2021, and I don't want to do something like that to any of my firearms.
[...]
Do you intend on keeping it as an SL8? It's cheaper than a high end AR, and I'm considering one too, but I am worried the temptation to get it converted to a G36 clone would be too great. Then I'd have to buy another to have both.
I'm not really considering going for a clone. A more decently designed(WITH ACTUAL ERGONOMIC CURVES) stock or even thumbhole stock would be nice, but HK would sooner choke to death on their 8 millionth Black person rapefugee than change the design of a gun to be more comfortable for the end user.
I think prices have been falling for SL8s recently. I'm looking to snag one for 1400 now. I think it'd be worth it just as a varmint/target rifle.
NTA but I recently converted an SL8 to a G36 and there's plenty of reasons to keep an SL8 over converting. I did it purely cause I wanted a G36, but for what you'd pay nowadays you could easily buy the gucciest of ARs, getting up to around 9-10k all in, and with all that money in it will still not be as accurate or as user friendly as customizing your own AR. As far as actual, objective plus sides to converting, you can use 30rnd magazines, but you can convert an SL8 to do that without going the whole hog.
It's not even the money that bothers me. It's that there's nothing to really do. The HK market is more sterile and empty than a 43 year old woman trying to find a husband who "completes" her.
There's few accessories worth buying, and the ones that are, are ancient surplus that is more attractive to museum owners than somebody like me looking for it as a target rifle.
tbh if the SL8 had a comfy thumbhole stock that didn't feel like a torture device and a magwell that could be converted it'd be perfect for me.
I'd like to make it work, but maybe I should write to HK so in 50 years when their israeli masters allow them to sell another batch of rifles, the design will be better.
Yeah but then it would be another boring as frick AR, I couldn’t care less about ARs personally and one less AR in the world is a good thing when something else interesting could be had instead.
Can't speak for the 9mm and .40 versions, but the USP 45 is the greatest .45 ACP handgun ever made. >but muh Mk23
Too big for real use. >but muh Glock 21/S&W M&P/etc.
Can they shoot .45 Supers stock? The USP can. >but muh SIG 220
They can shoot Supers and they're single stack. >but muh 1911
LMAO
For 9mm you should probably get a different gun and for .40 you should have a nice day, but you'll not find a better .45 ACP than the USP.
I love the idea of the usp 45 even if its ergonomics are brickish because lasting forever is cool. I just can't get over the shit trigger.
And I say that as someone who hates striker fired shit.
Do you intend on keeping it as an SL8? It's cheaper than a high end AR, and I'm considering one too, but I am worried the temptation to get it converted to a G36 clone would be too great. Then I'd have to buy another to have both.

I have a usp45t, it's ok, but it's def putting me off from buying a mk23, would rather get a third amt longslide for fun. Trigger is kinda eh on the usp45, even with lem on mine, still don't understand the hype with the lem trigger either. Giant box of a gun. Looks cool though for the 2 times a year I pull it out.
Sometimes you just gotta get lucky. >t. bought both of my USP's for $500, one of which was an LEO trade-in USP 45 and the other being pic related I literally bought today.
Probably going to make it into a match clone.
They only still produce it because 90s aesthetic guns are a niche. So long as people still buy a $400 gun at $1200, they're going to keep making the old model. It's already been updated as the P30 for anyone actually looking for something more practical.
Literally the only real difference between the p30 and the USP is that the USP has the option of 45acp. The USP is more reliable, but comparing it to a P30 is like saying that a well-maintained Toyota Corolla without fog lights is less reliable than a well-maintained Toyota Corolla with.
Because Kochsuckers are the only ones stupid enough to pay it. It's a $400 pistol they sold for $700 for 20 years, now it's absurd

For the same reason that Glocks sell for $500-$600 when they should cost $250 because they likely cost like only about $100 to manufacture.
But the USP only costs $100 to manufacture
Not when hk internal components outlast 90% of other guns on the market
The only reason they last that long is nobody fricking shoots them.
Cuz you shoot bullets moran
I would be extremely surprised if the USP manufacturing costs were more than double that of glock.
Case in point, there is no way the USPs mags cost more to manufacture than a glocks, but they cost 300% more.
>Genuine question: Why?
Because it was in a movie or video game. Otherwise buy an Arex or something.
Keep your eyes open and you can swipe police trade-ins for $500-600.
>Not buying your USP pre covid
I'd be onboard if I could even fricking buy one. Am Calgay. That shit was not cash.
>LEM is USP is decent.
LEM *IN* USP is decent.
how do you buy a gun without testing out the trigger?
I was looking at the special PX4 compact CARRY editions because i was falling for the spinboi meme at the time and finally got one in my hands.
I pulled the trigger once, felt the reset, and put it back.
I buy 90% of my guns online. If Fleet Farm doesn't carry it then I'll order it if I want it. I put up with enough stupid shit from the local firearms dealers that I would rather not frequent their stores unless I absolutely had to.
>felt the reset
This is the biggest filter in pistols. People who care about reset are troglodytes that don't actually have any knowledge of what they are doing. Just sightless worms regurgitating blindly some garbage they heard from someone equally as clueless on youtube.
This is bait.
Nah he's right, reset doesn't matter at all. Break, however, matters
Nah, your wrong and also a shitty troll. Nothing will trip you up more when firing a handgun quickly then a fricking long ass shitty reset that you cannot hear nor feel.
Actually you're wrong and also a reddit tourist newbie and also noguns. If you've ever shot a handgun quickly you'd know reset matters zero
Gonna need better material then that if you wish to troll in this thread, kid.
Langdon shoots fast better than most ever will. He specifically addresses reset when he contradicts that thumb dork. Time starts at like ~2:04:50.
https://www.youtube.com/live/C8yWZ85D_4o?feature=share&t=7491
>I personally think that reset is one of the most overrated things on handguns.
t. someone better than you will ever be
The thing is most people won't train to that level and a short reset will let them dump rounds faster.
You are literally a piece of chattel incapable of learning. What a waste of genetic potential.
Nah I formed my opinion by shooting with other shooters who are also not top-shelf shooters. I don't care what a bunch of pros think about less competent shooters, they will always have their two cents. Shorter reset makes it easier for mid-shelf shooters to dump a mag
>I am wrong, but since I came up with my moronation myself, my self worth is invested in keeping it
You're human cattle.
So a short reset means nothing unless you're a bro? Get real
You appeal to authority. Like cattle being led by a rancher, but you have the gall to call others livestock? Resets matter but only as much as you want it to. Goes for anything really.
Hi, just hopped in this thread.
I've been shooting a Glock19 Gen4 for nearly a decade so every trigger feels amazing to me. 😀
>The thing is most people won't train to that level and a short reset will let them dump rounds faster.
The P2000 is still around because of California. The USP is still around for the same reason the 1911 is. People want it because its iconic.
Basically this. Really you can get a vp9 or p30 and have mostly the same gun for cheaper
I did buy mine pre COVID; USPs in .45 tend to just be a bit more expensive than .40s.
Fricking resurrect the P7 but modernize it to deal with some of the heat H&K.
Even during the COVID pandemic they weren't exactly commanding a premium. Everyone wanted a Glock or AR-15. I picked up a very nice condition USP45 in a straight trade for a $350 PSA kit gun while everyone was in lockdowns.
Sounds like a skill issue. I got mine for half of that.
>picrel, MOS threaded
1050€. Yikes.
>Why
Because people will pay it.
There is no reason for an SR-15 to cost >$3k yet here we are.
Has the patents for the USP/Mk. 23 expire yet?
>didn't buy a usp 45 sooner
I'm sorry this happened to you
Does they "feel" less toyish than Glocks ? I mean polymer kinda feel ? Im glock45 poster above, never shot a HK, i'm considering buying an USP in 9mm.
>didn't buy a usp 45 sooner
>Not buying your USP pre covid
They're still fine today. Dunno what all of you are babbling about. I'm saving up to buy a P30L anyway.
Variant 3 is comfy
I'm mirin your P30L bruh. I used to own a USP 45 back then and I got the chance to test out a P30L and the model you currently own is exactly what I want. The only reason why I don't want older handguns anymore because I've been spoiled with the newer stuff.
I know what you mean the P30L just feels better in my hand than my HK45 V7 and USP45 V1 but they're not going anywhere, I love nostalgic old clunky shit like the S&W 469
Nicee. I need some USP compacts
Thank you for trying Herr Hitler
Which caliber is the best USP experience.
Seems like 9 would be the best but for some reason it seems the 9mm usp gets the most hate.
I’ve always wanted the .45 one personally but I know I wouldn’t shoot it as much as I would if it were a 9.
40, it was built for the round and later redesigned for 9 and 45. Plus you're resistant to ammo scares unlike 9 and 45
HK45 > USP45 ergonomically but isn't as cool. iirc the usp was developed around .40
Less toyish? No, maybe more so. Different polymers but mostly the same durability and UV resistance wear wise. They do feel slightly different in the textures, HK's frames are more flat and smooth in the non-textured areas while Glock frames are very lightly textured all over. I like both but all my Glocks are gen3 and whatever a 43 is
$1,200 new is a lot more than I paid in 2016
>$1,200 new is a lot more than I paid in 2016
I strongly agree and I agree with everyone stating that this is companies artificially inflating prices. The only way I could see prices plummet, if popularity drops for these guns. But there could be other factors too.
I tried to trade in a couple hk pistols the other week and store wouldn't take them since they had too many sitting. USP 45 and P2000.
Nope, it’s 849 € out the door. That’s 100€ more than a gen 5 G17. It’s well worth that premium.
I just like the USP 40 for 90's kino.
Because you're poor and they hate you.
Makes me question if German gun manufacturers are becoming like German car companies like Mercedes-Benz and BMW lmao.
I wouldn't but it is
>durable
>strong barrel
>exclusive
>military pedigree
If it happens to fit your hand just right and you don't plan to EDC it, then it would be a good choice.
I paid that for the Tactical. The rest were under $700.
How long ago did you buy that tactical? If you bought it recently, how's the quality?
I think it was two years ago now. Bought it new. Seems perfectly fine quality wise. The standard USP next to it is a first gen from 1994. They don't seem any different in quality.
Overall, are you happy with your Tactical?
My only regret is not having a can for it yet.
>My only regret is not having a can for it yet.
You'll get a can and you will have fun.
I did and I have fun. 1911gays stay coping
Awwwww yeahhhh!!!!!
My hybrid 46 on my USP45t looks identical to that.
This is peak handgun. Even though the USP is a bit dated, it’s still fricking perfect. It would be more perfect if HK offered 15rd mags
Standard 45acp 230gr is subsonic and carries more energy than any other suppressable pistol caliber.
The hybrid 46 is big and suppresses pistol calibers very well- and it’s 338lapua rated

>costs 1200
I thank God every day I found one for 450 before the 2020 panic buying.
For 1500, I'm sure you could build/buy a 20" upper that'll be 1 MOA or better with the right ammo.
I have a strong urge for a USP 45 expert
Because everything is more expensive for CTs.
Someone post the gif
well i think my usp is a piece of shit and don't like shooting it much. and i ended up liking 1911 way more than i was anticipating.
>erebus
FRICKING DEMON SHIT SMOKING HERETIC
The Nyx still hasn't started production yet.
frick israelites, btw. incase anyone was wondering
>when you're the main character of the entire galaxy
Muh special marked USP
and special (read: moronic) reverse safety
People who buys these guns thinking the rollmarks means they are better than the average USP 9 are fricking hilariously dumb.
Goes with my 90s spec g36, pretty happy for $900
>need to push up to unsafe
thats fricking moronic
I love the idea of the usp 45 even if its ergonomics are brickish because lasting forever is cool. I just can't get over the shit trigger.
And I say that as someone who hates striker fired shit.
Because you suck, and they hate you. Stop being such a poorgay, poorgay. I bet you don't even load your mags backwards.
Do you intend on keeping it as an SL8? It's cheaper than a high end AR, and I'm considering one too, but I am worried the temptation to get it converted to a G36 clone would be too great. Then I'd have to buy another to have both.
I have a usp45t, it's ok, but it's def putting me off from buying a mk23, would rather get a third amt longslide for fun. Trigger is kinda eh on the usp45, even with lem on mine, still don't understand the hype with the lem trigger either. Giant box of a gun. Looks cool though for the 2 times a year I pull it out.
paid 775 new in 2016
same year got a w. german p226 for 500
its not a soldiers gun
Sometimes you just gotta get lucky.
>t. bought both of my USP's for $500, one of which was an LEO trade-in USP 45 and the other being pic related I literally bought today.
Probably going to make it into a match clone.
>Probably going to make it into a match clone.
Ayyy
Would've preferred to use a USP9 as the base, but $500 for a stainless USP definitely beats paying $1500-$2000 for one.
The USP is more reliable, but comparing it to a P30 is like saying that a well-maintained Toyota Corolla without fog lights is less reliable than a well-maintained Toyota Corolla with.
there's also the HK45 for 45acp which is basically a P30 without some of the options
riding the reset is utterly moronic and anyone who does it deserves to be short stroked and shot
bro i paid 500 Euroshekels for my USP 45 Compact last year
HKoids pay 2k for AR lowers, why are you surprised about this
just get a p30l
they're cheaper and better
>cheaper
Sure
>better
HA
People think the usp trigger is bad, but the p30 is pure dogshit
