The theory im hearing going around is that these tanks are about to drive but have non-functional turrets so Russia is doing this instead of wasting them
And you believe them? They made so many outlandish claims as damage control, just remember when they reasoned the golf carts are a good idea just to name the newest cope
it doesnt sound believable to me, not after so many lies. I think they honestly believe this protect them, or they get possessed by the ork spirit, and the higher ups doing damage control of the mad max shit the grunts creating
moron.
The turrets can't traverse at all with these sheds on them and their visibility is seriously limited. They are basically just using them as a platform to carry EW equipment and shield the advance of other vehicles.
It's pretty reasonable to use tanks that already have fricked up turrets or some other mechanical problem, and at this point Russia probably has more vehicles in inventory with mechanical problems than ones without.
I'd assume that the purpose is to make it (slightly) harder for fpv drones with shaped charges to hit a specific spot?
Hitting the engine compartment is "easy", when you can just bang your drone into it, but much harder when you have to angle your attack from further away.
I think that's what it is, yeah.
People who don't do FPV wouldn't know this, but FPV drones have programmable failsafe settings. If the signal suddenly cuts out they don't HAVE to fall out of the sky. You can just toggle a setting that makes it continue flying on whatever trajectory it was already on.
If a pilot is aware of an EW unit and the vehicle is stationary, they could just fly directly at it and then score a hit even if they lost control of the drone.
It's harder to hit what you want to hit when you can't see it at all. Plus, the sheet metal will cause the charge to detonate some distance away from the actual armor of the vehicle, so I guess that lowers the chance of penetration?
Either way a tandem warhead ATGM should be able to just BTFO turtle tanks no problem.

Honest to god, this is the first cope cage that would actually make me less nervous about riding into battle in a soviet shitbox. >crew doesn't see shit
Crew doesn't see shit anyways in those fricking tanks, at least you're less likely to be promoted to cosmonaut out of nowhere.
I kinda want to see what happens if it actually had to engage in a tank vs. tank encounter.
We all know the visibility in our castle age ram is shit, but how does all this shit effect the tank engaging it, and how would the explosion look like?
Yeah yeah thanks but sincerely where can I find video footage of these things, they don't actually do anything but survive the occasional drone bomb right?
It does seem that these things have enjoying some degree of success — the primary Ukie AT weapon are FPVs and these things will make aiming RPG drones at weak points much more difficult. Add in the regular jamming and I can see how such a scheme would work. Remember that aiming in a normal situation is more challenging than it seems due to lag, and removing the visual aim points just makes it much more difficult. I think they can overcome that with image recognition software, but I don’t know if the Ukies have the software engineering capability to make that happen, but there’s Western companies that should be able to help. I wonder why Ukies haven’t bothered acquiring real loitering munitions and advanced AT weapons and seemed content to let the volunteers churn out hobby-tier FPVs.
its not cage anymore its cope sheds
we reached a point where the humiliation went into their head and thinking in meme magic way
It's not a cope cage it's a cuck shed

I mean, it sounds believable to me. They're running out of shit loke MT-LBs and BMPs so they're reporting to whatever the frick this is
it doesnt sound believable to me, not after so many lies. I think they honestly believe this protect them, or they get possessed by the ork spirit, and the higher ups doing damage control of the mad max shit the grunts creating
>I think they honestly believe this protect them
It's enough stand-off to defeat PG-7s and the tin is probably thick enough to catch a grenade
1. it don't protect the engine
2. it's insufficient to degrade a PG-7VM, but it makes aiming harder
With 1. alone is useless.
If you add ERA to the base tank it's very difficult target for shaped charge weapons.
it sounds believable moron. did you see any destroyed ones?
>did you see any destroyed ones?
i assume a destroyed barntank would just look like a blown up tank, the barn probably falls apart in the explosion.
I've seen video of one getting towed away by another tank, so at least one has been disabled if not outright destroyed.
I've seen one look pretty fricked yeah, it was the first one we ever saw, they artilleried the house it was sitting in.
Yes.
>about to
able to*
What would be the point of just driving around without armament?
Ghetto APC, I guess.
CHAAAAARGE
But you can fit maybe 3-4 guys there plus the driver
plus a dozen tank riders in the cuckshed
Remember that Russian tanks carry people besides the turret.
Deliver meat to the front
That was first barn tank. Now they made barn tanks from any tanks.
>The theory im hearing going around
Translation from Russian: This is the narrative I was told to push by my manager at the glavset office.

We know it's you
not so silly anymore ay commie
There are people who think the turtle tank is actually heavy armor
Ukraine just lost more land to this thing. Not even joking.
Now tell me if there is enough of Russia to take all the way up to Kyiv at this attrition rate.
the day after Trump is elected he will make peace and give Russia everything Putin demands
At least his is what Russia hopes for.
0% chance trump is getting elected, too much baggage and the roe v wade will cause him to lose every swing state
rhetoric
That cage doesn't look like it's made out of popsicle sticks like the ones we have seen before.
Could that be a thin layer of concrete?
Morphed into a cope casket
>tfw my armor needs armor
So besides not protecting the engine and probably makes it a motherfricker to be aware of your surroundings you gain some spaced armor from drones?
I'd assume that the purpose is to make it (slightly) harder for fpv drones with shaped charges to hit a specific spot?

Its to contain the turret from going to far.
is this an IFV or a tank
Clearly a tank, you can see barrel coming out of right
>infantry compartment
>large doors for easy dismounting
are you sure?
Tank with IFV/HIV characteristics
Honest to god, this is the first cope cage that would actually make me less nervous about riding into battle in a soviet shitbox.
>crew doesn't see shit

Turtle stonk.

Tanks are not supposed to engage other tanks
It's a frame of metal sheets, the same you use to make roofs for tool shacks. They won't stop a 9mm, much less a 120mm APFDS antitank sabot.
Well, I still want to see how it explodes when the tank underneath is penetrated with said round.
Is that too much to ask?
>Is that too much to ask?
no, it's a reasonable wish
Which African conflict is this technical from?
2nd Donbabwean Crisis
>can't see shit in a tank normally
>now put a fricking barn over it
They should put a net around it.
How strong are modern tank engines? Are the cope cages and seethe sheds reaching the point where they overstress the engine yet?
>How strong are modern tank engines?
as if russia had modern tank engines
Well at least they are on the frontline, can't say the same for abrahams
>History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.
wonder have any FPV kabooms to these blyatmobile/turtle tanks? :DDD
troop transport because russia ran out of bmp and btr and even bmlp
Do you get paid per post?
No stinky I get payed to smoke weed all day, but certainly not on a Sunday and not on fricking PrepHole, now post the video.
Fair play you do you
Yeah yeah thanks but sincerely where can I find video footage of these things, they don't actually do anything but survive the occasional drone bomb right?
I've only seen one aftermath video of one of these, not sure it was a drone hit as it was peeled open like a banana.
I'll try to find it

No. The primary Ukrainian AT weapon is an RPG.
You fricking internet and social media addicted c**ts good God.
