Russia can shrug it off because damage does not impede the boyars nor do casualities which can be ignored as they are now. Stalin solved those issues long ago. If escalation requires it, shoot the recalcitrant.

An is Antonov, these are made in Ukraine.

They had two final assembly lines during Soviet era. In Kiev and in Ulyanovsk, Russia. Not sure about production breakdown between two factories. Russia has had plans to re-start production in Ulyanovsk since late 2000's, but all that imploded once they occupied Crimea and building of new aircraft hasn't happened as that would require lots of Ukrainian shit or Russians to develop local replacement that shit. Russian air force has been able overhaul and modernize about dozen of their aircraft, with another dozen in mothballs. Russian cargo airline VolgaDnepr also has dozen aircraft, more on order if Russians manage re-start production, but there is a catch, they have rejected the modernization Russian air force ordered and prior to invasion were negotiating with General Electric for new engines and getting western avionics from various suppliers.

From what I understand, Uki didn't want to fight an urban battle where:
            1) they got their own civilian caught in the middle
            2) It is their city so bombing it is a no
            3) The ratio would favor the russian

            >Ukraine let ALL of the Russian elite units and their equipment just slip away
Because the river crossing was conducted for weeks using civilians as cover.
Shit was announced like a month in advance, everyone was mocking the articles from Ukrainian sources claiming the Russians were retreating. That's why zoka_200 said "if Russians retreat from Kherson I'll join NAFO", it looked truly delusional. However, they were right. When Russia said they were moving civilians and the city administration across the river to avoid them getting killed in the battle for Kherson, they were moving troops in civilian clothing among them.

Daily reminder that the media plan for the Ukrainian counter-offensive got leaked. This was the plan for how Russian media should report the counter-offensive depending on what occurred. To sum up
    >If the counter-offensive is successful
State that Russia is fighting all of NATO and that they are at their limit of support and they suffered heavily losses to achieve those gains.
    >If the counter-offensive is not successful
State that Ukraine has no combat capabilities left and that no more will be coming from the West due to lack of success.

This got leaked on the 2nd. So it's a weird coinkydink that the Kremlin is attacked the very next day so this narrative forging plan gets drowned out with 'UKRAINE TRIED TO ASSASSINATE PUTIN'. So I'm going with false flag to distract from that so the Russian population ignore the fact that the Russian media (and affiliates) are planning to spin whatever happens with the Ukrainian counter-offensive into a positive for Russia.

I mean it wasn't for lack of trying. During the record breaking chimpout of missiles Puccia launched last year one missile was supposed to hit the SBU building, in Kyiv, but went off course and exploded near, not on, the glass pedestrian bridge. Their missiles are just garbage.

The average Russian still thinks this is a DBZ fight and Russia just needs two more weekly aired episodes to finish charging up for their ultimate attack. They haven't really asked why they didn't use that as an opener because asking questions isn't in their blood, the ones that did became fertilizer for the ones that didn't.

So like all things it's just a show for their domestic population and if westerners are stupid enough to believe it, that's fine too.
