It is in a way but you're lengthening your rifle by a lot, not that any of you know how to utilize building clearing tactics anyway.
>but I'm just gonna HUNKER DOWN at the end of my hallway
Would still be better to peak around the edge of a doorway with a compact rifle or better yet a handgun.
Is there a way to mount bayonets to any rifle? Seems like a severe oversight that no one has made a practical universal bayonet mount. Most rifles don't come with the traditional lug for that rifle anymore, and there's no mlok or picatinny attachments to mount them, or even like a barrel clamping one. So stupid, I just want a damn bayo I can put on all my rifles.
I have used a machete successfully for home defense. It was the full intent to legally kill that put the fear of God in em. Let them go out of kindness.
Don't see how a bayonet would be any different, the bayonet drill instills violence of action and a mindset of lethal aggression.
Need to stop telling this story over and over again.
somebody once said on here that knives are more of a deterrent than guns because the subconscious recognizes that they are dangerous, ie people will try to tackle somebody with a gun but will never wrestle somebody with a knife.
never researched this or looked it up, is it true?
I'd imagine that probably had more to do with in WW2 if someone was doing a bayonet charge, it was probably because the enemy was just about finished off.
As for the subconscious knife dangerous stuff, sounds like an old wife's tale.
That's just cuz when you wrestle someone with a knife there's a 174% chance you'll get stabbed or slashed somehow. If you wrestle someone with a gun (especially a long gun) the barrel will be easily deterred because it functions as leverage and the chances of you getting shot are way lower. Also if you charge while the shooter is reloading, the shooter is basically defenseless.
That being said no matter which one of the two it would take a huge amount of courage and giant balls to take on an armed assailant unarmed, but I can see why people would be even more deterred from taking on a person with a blade than with a gun.
Also in movies people with guns get wrestled all the time, you never see it happening with knife or sword wielders. Maybe the people in the study just think they are main characters.
The home invader will have the element of surprise, it is best not to fumble around in the dark with a rifle and a bayonet sticking out.
Bayonets were used when it was faster to lunge at an enemy than reload, total war budgeting issues meant not every soldier received a sidearm and partly the psychological value of having something between you and the enemy. It is now 2024, you have the option of a reliable handgun or 2.
>Bayonets were used when it was faster to lunge at an enemy than reload, total war budgeting issues meant not every soldier received a sidearm and partly the psychological value of having something between you and the enemy
These are definitely some of the reasons, and a major additional reason was repelling cavalry charges also useful for myriad other things, like escorting prisoners, controling rioting crowds, and clearing minefields
Bayonets were there to stop cavalry charges, which is why pike and shot formations fell out of fashion at the same time it became common to have socket bayonets that people could fire their musket with whilst the bayonet was equipped. Stabbing people was always a secondary use for bayonets which is why bayonets fell out of fashion when soldiers stopped worrying about getting run down by horses not when it stopped being fun to stab people.
adds length and alternatively you can just muzzle thump them and shoot them. Or just shoot them to begin with. Even if you have cucked 10 round mags you'll almost certainly have more than enough ammo for a HD situation.
I want a SCR but have a government profile barrell put on so I can mount a bayonet and I think it would be a funner to use with a bayonet being closer to classic rifles and pole arm then a standard ar-15 with a pistol grip.
Anyone else ever do this or think of it?
After living through the 2020 bullshit I actually went and put a bayonet on a couple of my ARs. Doesn't seem like a bad idea against a bunch of Marvin looter kangz or commie chomos rioting.
Too long. Houses have lots of tight corners. If you're a poorgay and you're already rocking a full-length rifle or a shotgun, the thing's dangerously long for CQB already. Adding more inches to an already unweildy device is likely to leave you fumbling long enough for Jamal to turn you into swiss cheese and make off with your TV.
pff frick you creepy homosexual. stop humping the wall before you take your shot and stride through your house like you own it. fighting from your perspective you gone lose 99.9% of the time frick you.
Name one bullpup that has a bayonet lug. This just brings up how stupid bayonet mounting systems are, they're specifical to one gun rather than being universal so no manufacturer even bothers putting them on anymore.
AUGs support bayonet, so does the FAMAS and L-85. I think the Chinese QBZ-97 or whatever also mounts bayonets. With that said, bullpups are for women. Remember, AUG stands for "Actually for underaged girls"
But it is practical.
no
it just gets in the way and you should shoot them instead
Shit everywhere there's likely to be a doorway.
>Shit everywhere there's likely to be a doorway.
I already do(ody).
What bayonet is this? How is it mounted?
That appears to be a metric FAL bayonet. Its probably not properly mounted. Normally they fit onto the combo muzzle device like a rifle grenade.
Not unless you're actively a cop or soldier clearing a building. Defense isn't offense.
Defense has to move sometimes, notraining.
If you don't fix bayonet, put on your war face,& charge a home invader down the hallway, then you're a pussy& you don't deserve to own a home
>not that any of you know how to utilize building clearing tactics anyway
Buddy, I know what grenades are
Dumb contrarian. How many grenades do you own and how many do you throw on your doorstep when you hear a suspicious noise at night?
>How many grenades do you own
that's for me to know and you to frick around and find out
Lmao you kids actually wasted money on the dummy grenades at the surplus shop? They both even have blue training levers.
Post 'nade
>how many do you throw on your doorstep
Lmao, homosexual. I'm pulling the pin, sliding it under my pillow,& going back to forever sleep
>lmao homosexual I'm just going to kill myself if someone breaks in
you really showed him anon

ask PSA to do it
Yeah because I want it made out of soft butter metal with Black person quality control.
>no mlok attachment to mount them
Geissele Super Stabby
That's bulky to leave on the end of your gun when you don't need it though.
Counterpoint: never remove the bayonet, because you always have an urgent need to look badass
It looks like an smle bayonet mount without the grenade launcher attachment point
hose clamps
Not stable and you'll sit there for 15 minutes mounting it...
>Most rifles don't come with the traditional lug
If your gun doesn't come with a bayonet lug it's not a "rifle", it's a toy.
All civillian-owned guns are toys, larpgay
I'm so heckin demoralized now, ya got me. Tell your boss you deserve that raise
Quite humble for a manchild
It's really not impractical, it's just that it may give prosecutors a way to b***h about you and argue something moronic about your intent to kill
If the bayo is too long you might overpenetrate a wall and stab a baby on the other side
Ok hear me out bayonet on a shotgun is much better
I can't. bayonets are essential.
> You could have a tacticool shotgun instead with a bayonet attachment.
I dub this the Zombie Terminator.
i dub you reddit
On reddit you would get banned for having the Militia insignia and american flag on your gun. Too anti-government.
I can't.

sounds like bullshit
There's probably something to it. Just about every bayonet charge that happened in WW2 broke the target's morale and caused them to flee.
I'd imagine that probably had more to do with in WW2 if someone was doing a bayonet charge, it was probably because the enemy was just about finished off.

Unless you're that one fricker who recently shot a nog with his muzzleloader during a home invasion then it's of no use
After living through the 2020 bullshit I actually went and put a bayonet on a couple of my ARs. Doesn't seem like a bad idea against a bunch of Marvin looter kangz or commie chomos rioting.
Mounting bayonets was banned under the AWB and it WILL be brought up during trial if you ever do have to defend yourself.
I don't know why but a man charging me with a bayonet causes more terror than a man holding me at gunpoint.
Just jump away at the last second. Works with bullets too.

There's short barrelled rifles. You can mount bayonets on bullpubs.
Name one bullpup that has a bayonet lug. This just brings up how stupid bayonet mounting systems are, they're specifical to one gun rather than being universal so no manufacturer even bothers putting them on anymore.
And this is bullshit, we have to save bayonets. Someone has to come up with a viable universal knife mounting system.
AUGs support bayonet, so does the FAMAS and L-85. I think the Chinese QBZ-97 or whatever also mounts bayonets. With that said, bullpups are for women. Remember, AUG stands for "Actually for underaged girls"
>"Actually for underaged girls"
I'm sold.
Does that mean I can attract them if I purchase an AUG?
have a nice day
Are you moronic
>I want to point a heavy loaded gun at an intruder in order to stab them with it
I would rather put the bayonets on my hands. I always have my hands on me
Unless your doorways are unusually wide, they're a hindrance and you're stupid.
