Compound bow recommendations in 500 dollar range

Compound bow recommendations in 500 dollar range

I am looking for a compound bow that I could use for target shooting and maybe hunting.

I have shot bows before and I am familiar with them. However a compound would be something new to me.

Do you guys have budget friendly recomendations?

Wish I could help anon, but I stick to recurves. My next bow will probably be a Bear Super Kodiak at 60lbs

I'm not OP, but that is gorgeous. I've been meaning to get into archery (recurve) for a long time, and Bear Bows are so beautiful and quality. I've been eyeing the Grizzly, but I will obviously get a Samick Sage at 30lb to start... not much to hunt in my area with bows... maybe grouse and hare.

One piece bows are fricking beatiful but isnt it better to buy take down bow and just switch limbs for stronger?

I had a compound bowstring snap and skin my entire forearm, I just use a recurve now.

Were you holding it with your forearm angled away from the draw path? Also pics pls

I've had a compound string snap and it can bruise you, or give you a welt cut from where it hit, but it's not going to skin your arm.

Thats what you get by not using arm guard you dumb ass

Also pics or it didn't happen

only homosexuals who cant shoot compound would ever use an arm guard. if you're holding a compound correctly, you arent going to hit your arm.

To OP, Its a bit more than 500, but you can get a new Mathews V3X for $900 these days since tyhe phase 4 came out.

only homosexuals who cant shoot guns would ever use a compound. if you're a normal adult correctly socialized, you aren't going to use a bow.

In Australian hunting shops we get a lot of Chinese bullshit but the upper-middle range bows are normally from Taiwan. Sorry for the long bizarre link but "Apex Berserker Evolve 75" bows cost around $750AU in a hard case starter kit which is only ~$400USD with free shipping

            >muh guns
            >homosexual no boom
Some of us international folks treat guns like boring point-and-click tools for putting down sick or injured farm animals and lock them away in a safe with the ammunition stored separately where they belong. It stops our kids from shooting up our schools. I get a sick lust when blasting a fox outside my chicken coup the same as you do, but firearm safety and regulation matters anon

              OP here
I have searched a lot and it seems best bang for the buck right now is WhiteTail legend pro, pic related.

It's around 650 euros for me, not cheap but hass all the bells and whistles

                >all the bells and whistles
The image you showed I think is lacking some of the bells. Sights, Arrow rest or whisker biscuit, shock stopper, noise dampeners, quiver

Also take in that you'll need a release, arrows, field heads, broad heads, an a target. If you're buying all that stuff it's going to be at least an extra 300 euro if not more. Just grabbing a 6 pack of arrows in america is like $90.

I know, but all those things that you mention are just attachments, you can change them when you want.
Things you cannot really change or is not worth doing/difficult are the bows geometry, limb angle, pulley system(most important), limb pockets, dual or split limb configuration

My buddy got his compound bow restrung by the local hunting store and they strung it upside down. When he shot it the string snapped and left a gash on his face. If you got unlucky enough for it to hit your arm at the right angle I have no doubt it could take off a lot of skin.

But you should be waxing your string every ~4 outings and replacing it every ~3 years so it doesn't explode.

I have the bear whitetail legend single cam. I put a hybrid 3 pin sight on it and I like shooting it in the backyard. May get my hunting license this year and try to get a turkey

How do you check if it’s upside down or not

depends on the bow brand, but i would say:
peep sight location is too far down
cam lines rest on the wrong roller

If the peep moved. But it honestly takes a couple minutes to string a bow. That's why you sit there and watch them do it.

don't torque the bow. that's a rookie mistake that isn't frequently repeated. shit hurts.

I have a bear Royal RTH they go for around $350 but I remember it being on sale for under 300 when I got mine. The higher prices your just getting a lighter bow that shoots like 50 fps faster.

I got a Bear Vast II or something like that name. Needed the 31” or so of draw length and the 70 pound draw for gator hunting which cost another $200 for the fishing rig and arrows… if you just need target shooting it comes configured with all the bells and whistles for around $420 but if you have a Sportsman’s Warehouse you can usually find a sale.

do you have $500 for just the bow or $500 for the whole package?
By the time I outiftted my $700 Elite bow the whole thing cost me $1,750 after sight, setup, arrows, quiver, stabilizers, case, and release.

I'm going to end up buying a onedia. I've never liked the pure compound but I'm also disappointed in the pure recurve so it's the perfect bow for me. Probably the phoenix.

That is one weird ass bow, any reason why the split it like that?

Because compound market cucks are chasing anything new while recurve and trad chads are enjoying the sport for 2000 years now.
