The film has already been seen by festival audiences. They said its a thoughtful series of vignettes about the various people encountered by the journalists as they travel through the war ravaged USA.

Let me guess the story, magatards and truckers are the enemy and the intentional banks and FBI are the good guys?
They pussy out. It's about those caught in the middle of both extremes.
Actually sounds kinda interesting.
No, California and Texas are somehow united against the gov that they split off from (which I hope the movie does something to explain), and the president is extremely corrupt and possibly revealed as worse than any of the secessionists
California and Texas are both independent republics allied against the US which is a little bit more believable
trailers show blacks and women fighting for one of the secessionist forces, so you know they’re on the right side.
No, California and Texas are part of a western state alliance who are steadily marching on Washington D.C. The President, Ron Swanson, has become tyrannical and regularly orders citizens in the west to be fighter bombed. The story focuses on journalists covering the western alliances push towards the East
My prediction from the trailers is that we’ll see two levels of conflicts: regular or semi-regular secessionist militaries fighting regular American armed forces loyal to DC and small-scale militias fighting other militias outside of the main cities (Chuds vs Antigays)
very little about the actual cause and solution/end of the conflict is cleared out
lame
predictable but disappointing
So it's just take off of World War Z?
But what kind of Americans were they?
Garland might actually not be a total hack after all. We'll see.
No he is.
I’d rather he be a hack, take a stand and firmly show who the bad guys really are then some “both sides are le bad” and “division is le bad” tropes with a inconclusive ending where audiences are left to figure it out by themselves
Both sides are bad though.
So the President somehow managed to abolish the 22nd Amendment and remain in office for a third term, despite term limits being overwhelmingly popular regardless of political affiliation. California and Texas, the de facto leaders of American liberalism and conservatism, respectively, have somehow teamed up to fight the federal government. Multiple southern states have teamed up, not with Texas, but under the “Florida Alliance” despite that being a stupid name. Liberal states such as Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, New York, Massachusetts (among others) have teamed up with the conservative states such as Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas, Kansas, West Virginia (among others).
Yeah, it’s pretty obvious that the English man who wrote this script has no idea how American politics work. This is like if I, an American, wrote that there was a British civil war in which England and Scotland fought against Wales and Northern Ireland.
They intentionally made it non-analogous to avoid political shitflinging. We get it, your alt history micropeen throbs very hard and we're all very impressed.
cope out by A24 then
>micropeen throbs very hard and we're all very impressed
don’t drag others into it
just admit it impresses you
pedo
That's sarcasm, actually. Alt-history is to history what capeshit is to film.
>England and Scotland fought against Wales and Northern Ireland
this would be funny and kino. i hate the english but i hate the welsh too so maybe i could live with it depending on what the irish had done
I'm not much for modern civil war fetishizing, but I do like some short stories. We'll see.
That could totally be a good film in theory.
I'm sure it will be terrible though.
that was obvious from the trailers
Oregon, Washington and California not absolutely murdering each other day 1 just doesn't make sense
I don't think those states really have problems with one another. It's mostly a urban/rural or west/east of cascades dispute a lot of the time but even that wouldn't actually culinate in much actual violence. The militia types just come to the cities to wave dicks/guns and holler a bit once in a while and the city people kinda roll their eyes and some tell them to frick off, and they do whenever they get hungry. Where I am at least.
Less than a half hour away from every major west coast city are multiple towns full of people who are ready to absolutely pop off
Oregon and Washington would be too high to care. California would keep rolling on as usual. If anything Orgeon and Washington might starts shit with Canada if things started popping off
All (You) lemmings ITT deserve the rope. Fricking children. Wake the frick up. Falling for this programming. Dumb fricking idiots.
These aren't conspiracies morons. Dumb fricking morons.
Wut
I hope one of the characters looks like Tim Pool.
> World War Z -- But Trump
Clapping so hard right now.
I'm instantly on the side that wants to kill Nick Offerman.
him being the president could carry the movie if he gets enough screen time. he probably won't
what do they fight over? If it´s anything other than rich vs poor I call israeli tricks on this one
>what do they fight over?
If its pronounced gif or jif
