I need some help from woodworkers of PrepHole. I am trying to give my brother in law a good Christmas gift. He recently got into woodworking and I want to give him a package gift. I was thinking of something along the lines of a new table saw, woodworking polishes/finishes, brushes, sanders. Something like that but I have not the first clue what I should be buying. Any ideas?
what does your borther build and what is your budget.
give us something to work with
$200
Tables, chairs, shelves
200$ worth of clamps
If he doesn’t have a table saw already, that would be a dope gift but they cost a few hundred bucks.
Lowe’s has that Kobalt router table on sale this year again, depends how snobby he is about brands, but that’s a good beginner one, plus a router bit set.
Otherwise these.
And if he already has a table saw and router table, picrel as well, that thing is the gold standard of “keep all your fingers” I think.
my wife got me one of these and I frickin love it. my cuts are far better now and obviously everything is much safer on the table saw. this is a great option Op.
I already bought the table saw, a saw blade, and some woodworking gloves. I have $200 remaining
>some woodworking gloves
I've been doing it wrong for so many years.
does he have a proper shopvac already? table saw kinda needs one, as well as any other tool
Does he not already have a table saw? If he's making quality furniture then a cheap jobsite table saw isn't going to be accurate enough.
Something like a drill press or a Kreg 720 pocket hole jig might be safer.
>Bluetooth hearing protection so he can still rock out or tune in to the sports game while working
>A funny apron
>a nice broom
>a whetstone or some fancy tool sharpening thing
>a butt plug
These are very nice despite the low cost, and once he has one he'll find all sorts of applications where it will make finishing a pleasure rather than a chore-

i'm gonna get this for my dad. he likes his table saw but he's getting a tremor in his hands so he's less confident about having fingers near blades.
Fundamentals like good clamps, C and bar clamps, and a set of chisels, check out Lee Valley for chisel sets.
One can never have too many clamps.
Buy something. Maybe next year
Exotic wood
Cutlery trays, splayed corners is nice but more difficult, you will need to make compound mitered corners, but a great look. Leave out the center handle and you have a wooden open box. Also, try candle box holders and wall mounted candle shelfs.
i think it's silly to give someone something related to a hobby that you yourself know nothing about
yeah give him some nipple clamps lol
