(Assuming 9mm)
HST 124 +p, 147 either pressure, 150 gr.
Ranger Ts if you can find them do real well
The winchester defense (D) and PDX or whatever loads are decent also.
Can anyone explain why brass jacketed hollow points might be superior to other JHPs, such as copper?
Also: >steel case
Dropped. Too many places have banned steel case, so I have nothing that isn't brass anymore. It's a fricking headache and I boycott places that ban steel, but it doesn't make it any less of a fricking pain in th eass to have to constantly pay attention to who is an butthole and who doesn't have their head up their ass.
What's the story with Norma ammo? looks like it just hit the scene in CA in Bulk and it looks like Mexico tier shit.
There was another thread within the last week or so. An anon posted a youtube link where someone tested them on ballistics gel. Zero expansion for their hollow points in 115 & 124 grain. Absolutely zero expansion, the bullets looked virgin enough to reload. They were chron'd at ~1080 and ~1050 fps respectively, fired into gel at ~10-12 feet. No excuse at all for 100% failure. I was feeling rage at the fraud being conducted by Norma. It's criminal to put JHP self-defense rounds on the market that don't even try to expand under perfectly ideal conditions over 1000 fps. Somebody fricked up incredibly hard somewhere in the manufacturing, and thus I will never fire anything Norma through any of my firearms for the remainder of my lifetime. They will never gain my confidence back no matter what they attempt after today.
That was me anon, you're misremembering. That was Sierras hollow points which are quite surprisingly garbage. I bought a box before looking them up so I plan to try one in some water filled milk jugs later this week, along with some 124 gold dot.
Here's the norma, a couple clogged and the ones that expanded only got about 9 inches into the gel, but they opened up to almost an inch. Penetration isn't the greatest, but the expansion is huge.
>you're misremembering
Indeed, I was. Thank you for the correction, and thank you for the link. My apologies to Norma. I'm cool with lower penetration in the face of big expansion. Dumping all the energy into ten or twelve inches is superior to dumping most of the energy into 20 or 24 inches.
I wrote it down this time and put in in my 9mm carry case so I don't frick it up like that again.

Was gonna say, GT did a video testing the Norma MHP and they were fricking decimating the anatomical ballistics torsos he was shooting. Never actually seen a HP leave a large enough permanent wound to shoot the fake blood out on impact.
Currently remington ultimate home defense, but I have some hornady criticial defense that I plan on using. Never had to use either in self defense, but they both cycle well in my gun. Both in 9mm
Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain +P. Never actually fired it through my carry gun (P10c), subject to the Ticondas effect as I am. Thinking I should fire a few, test expansion in water jugs/containers
you’re fine, i shot a few, they were pretty close in point of impact. i figure that’s good enough to trust my life and my wife’s honor to when ladarrien comes for us
honestly i just carry FMJs now because i practice with them and zero my red dot for them so it makes the most sense to just CARRY them. especially when its a caliber that requires strict shot placement.
Does anybody know of a JHP that overexpands to a comical degree? I want my shit to peel like a banana. End goal is to drive it even faster and have it actually separate into six pieces upon expansion.
Already working on that. You can drive them 2200+ FPS and they'll hold together despite what I assumed. I don't like how the base works, though. I'd prefer a uniform 6-way split like what it appears would happen if a common JHP massively overexpanded.
yo mama
Most preferred
>Liberty Civil Defense
When I can find them, they are pretty sparse are the moment.
>Approved substitute
Hornady Critical Defense
Those liberty civil defence rounds are hot fricking garbage
literally just carrying random fmj like a Black person
>literally just carrying random fmj like a Black person
can't be much worse than the crap OP posted
Winchester defender 124 +p
works on my machine
I'm not taking a picture, but it's 124gr +p HST
same here
Most effective hollow?
(Assuming 9mm)
HST 124 +p, 147 either pressure, 150 gr.
Ranger Ts if you can find them do real well
The winchester defense (D) and PDX or whatever loads are decent also.
Also gold dots seem to do ok in 9mm, but everytime i see them in other calibers they suck
Switch to fawty HST my man
Basic b***h Winchester White Box 9mm JHP.
Hornady American gunner 124 grain
it just works well and is always in stock
Sweet Gold Dot 124gr+p, and Hydra Shock 95gr
Can anyone explain why brass jacketed hollow points might be superior to other JHPs, such as copper?

That's nickel plated brass casings anon, most self defense loads use them
Federal HST 124 grain +P.
Only the best carry ammo for me. Got quite a bit loaded and stashed up.
Only other ammo id consider is Speer Gold Dot 124+P
Why did you shoot all your carry ammo anon
Norma MHP.
Only the best.
Not him but I grabbed a couple boxes during rona since it was the only 9mm expanding I could find at the time.
What's wrong with them?

dont know who your little e-celebs are by approbation, soory

I miss cheap carry ammo, guys.
I prefer Speer Gold Dots, but they aren't always in stock, or cost as much gold.
So most of my carry ammo is Hornady Critical Defense. They manage to be in stock in almost every gun store.
Currently remington ultimate home defense, but I have some hornady criticial defense that I plan on using. Never had to use either in self defense, but they both cycle well in my gun. Both in 9mm
Freedom Munitions 147 gr FMJ RN. Cheap, cycles fine, and I don't give a shit about expansion because I'd mag dump in an encounter anyway.

Whatever I have.
All I ever use for carrying
Yes I bring my AR-10 to work, how could you tell?
brass > copper
>pic related
that's some nasty shit
Gold Dot and V-Crown: Good
Hydra Shok and Hornady: Bad
Black talons
Does anybody know of a JHP that overexpands to a comical degree? I want my shit to peel like a banana. End goal is to drive it even faster and have it actually separate into six pieces upon expansion.
Probably some of those "RIP" rounds that were cool in 2013

nothing's too good for my friends.
These little fire crackers
bear country?
Critical Defense has been the easiest to find and stack, so I just stick with that.
