Carinthis is a LARP brand; they sell tacticool gear and clothing.
This particular tent has several innate design failures. Tube tents/tunnel tents are a pain in the ass to get into and out of. You can’t sit up in them, so if it’s raining you just have to lie there. This tent has zero ventilation. It weighs a ton compared to similarly priced tents. There’s nothing to justify the price. It’s made out of an inferior material.
They list it as being made from “PA 6.6”, aka nylon 66. They do not list the material thickness, but judging from the weight and the mention of “military activity in wet conditions” I’d guess 1.9oz/70D (which is way overkill for a tent). Things have been trending toward polyester in the last decade but not everyone has caught on.
Outside of actual bivies (this isn’t one) in an arid environment (aka, their intended use), Gortex is a stupid choice. It isn’t waterproof, it’s “breathable.” Yeah yeah, gas permeable, etc. We’ve seen the DuPont advertisements. It’s going to wet out in a storm. It’s pretty much guaranteed.

X-Mid 2. It outperforms your LARP playhouse in every way.
This Forclaz chad says no. There are circumstances when it's nice to be able to sit upright or have some space to move around while killing time. Like when clouds of mozzies force you inside early or to torrential rain just doesn't stop. Also when on a motorcycle I want less, not more.
I almost bought a similar one called the Snugpak ionosphere. I'd heard that it is suitable even for winter use since it's so well-insulated and compact inside. Buit like the above poster said, I do not like the idea not not being able to sit upright. These things let in water if you keep the entrance open simply due to the design so you're either in it with zip closed, or you're outside completely. I'd rather just take my 1-man tent which has room for my bag and boots, and in which I can sit up and do things like read or cook.
gore-tex is a marketing wank and IRL has very little benefits over nylon. It's just not fast enough to evaporate your body moisture to be called "breathable"
snugpak has the worst design imaginable. It's only popular because it's one of the first to meme the ""stealth"" meme. Ferrino, Rab, Fjallraven make superior low profile tents.
Nylon has been around forever and is pretty cheap. Some is better than others, but they will all wet out faster than other options and stretch in high wind.
It’s nice to see people turning against gortex. It’s not waterproof, it wets out like other fabrics, delaminates, then requires dwr treatment.
Just wear anything with dwr treatment and it’s just as good.
Gortex hiking boots- lol.
But it’s a larp because he’s not actually going to buy it. And it’s also a larp because if he did buy it he wouldn’t use it. And it’s again a larp because if he were to buy it and then use it he would hate it because the gear is not useable, it’s for larp gays. The condensation would be so shit in that thing you would be soaked no matter how waterproof it is. If you want to camp like this, just get a bivy and a tarp.
I have a chinese "copy", similar design. Light, barely fits me and a few spare things. I wouldn't trust it with my life, but it's fine for overnights and it's light. I want a lanshan instead. A bug net and tarp would probably be more versatile if harder to set up in wind.
ive thought about it, but, it ways more then my normal tent, with, less then half the room, and im not in some forward reconnaissance post
Yeah, might not be the most practical option out there. I just want it cause i think its cool.
Why is it so expensive? It looks like an ordinary bivvy tent.
>LARP tube tent
>$750
>”piece of kit”
Tracks
>calls something he doesn't like a larp without any explanation or alternative, thereby contributing nothing of value
Every time

mostly correct, their sleeping bags however, godtier
That moronic thing weighs more than my Kelty Salida 1 that I got at Goodwill for $10.

nylon is worse then garbage
oh you are one of those.. sure go ahead you consoom
Nice poisoning the well there buddy, but, there is no debate, nylon is as bad as cotton, both go straight in the garbage

all those words, but you could just say
nylom = garbage

Unpopular opinion: calling things larp/geargay is the real cope. Buy shit you like, be happy.
But it’s a larp because he’s not actually going to buy it. And it’s also a larp because if he did buy it he wouldn’t use it. At this point just get a flat tarp and taco.
Are you worried about insects?

>chinese "copy"
>barely fits me
The usual issue.
Not really, they're just small by design. It's not like they get away with not posting accurate measurements.
Fair enough. I have this issue commonly with the Chinese but maybe that's just because I'm how-is-the-weather-up-there tall.
