Car gun

Is a cars spare tire compartment a relatively safe spot to keep a hidden gun? It seems like an area that'd be hard to get to for the case of a smash and grab. Was thinking of getting a sub 2k to throw in the back of my vw.

why do you need a gun so far out of reach?

so when theres a mass shooter at the warehouse he works at he can run out, get his gun, run back in and shoot the guy and finally be a hero for once in his life

Hey I haven't worked in a warehouse since I was in my early 20s. I work in IT now.

as if that makes my generalization any less accurate. IT guys always carry like 3 guns, a TQ, a set of lockpics and a firesteel

    >identifying your vehicle
Smart move OP, but in all seriousness you need to keep a handgun in your center console or somwhere withing easy reach.
A subgun like an SP5 or Sub 2k would not be very accessible and would need to be hidden well and more importantly secured.

What good would it be anywhere except in arms' reach? A jury would lambaste you for using a spare tire compartment gun instead of using that time and freedom to leave the area.

Also got his guns stolen or he lost them and gets butthurt about people who post guns.

it is not a self defense shooting and you are suspected of murder until proven innocent, they will not give you a high five and a slap on the ass to be on your way. You will have an investigation and if things don't add up like 'he had time to go back into his trunk and take out a gun? why didn't he just leave? where is the imminent harm?' and then you're up shit creek without a paddle because the public defender is some moron that couldn't hack it at a law firm and a good lawyer is several tens of thousands without good carry insurance (most are scams). So best of luck navigating the waters of the legal system by yourself because you're too fat to have your carry peice on you. Bubba, Pablo and Tyrone would love a peice of soft booty that isn't turned inside out.

As has been said, that idea is moronic. If you're in a car, there's no situation where you would be better off taking ten seconds to pull a gun out of your trunk instead of driving away from the threat. But for the sake of discussion of hidden guns, what about a small pistol taped behind a piece of dashboard trim? All that plastic stuff can be pulled off by hand, so you have quick access to the gun in an emergency, but nobody else would think to start disassembling the vehicle to find it.

You don't even own a gun, so why waste your time just writing fiction?

    no, homie. no.
it's literally the first spot anyone looks in when searching a car that's not your glove box or under the front seat.
same with tire wells, console drawers, folding seats, engine bay, door panels and under the dash.
you'd be better off duct taping it to the roof rack

      Pretty much this.

A car is a small volume to search for contraband in. The only thing I can think of that would delay the inevitable is a flush/no protrusion metal & concrete lockbox welded to the car frame.

Those aren't available on Amazon and are custom made.

The problem with car guns is either you hide it so we’ll that it won’t be stolen but at the time so inaccessible you’ll never be able to get to it when you need it, or in a place where you can get it when you need it but so can any shithead with a hammer to bust out your window when you’re not around.

Personally, I just keep my carry gun on me. A couple months ago some homosexual broke my window out while I was at work and I’m glad I didn’t leave anything worth stealing in my car.

This. Carry your carry gun, security aside a car is a magnet to thieves so a poor place to store a weapon.

Look, Anon, spare tire wells normally have a portable, easily-resellable thing in them that's worth fifty bucks to a crackhead, and they're accessible in a few seconds with two good whacks with a crowbar. Putting a thing in them that's worth ten times as much is not a good idea. That's like hiding a pistol behind your car stereo.

      >easily-resellable thing in them that's worth fifty bucks
lmao a donut spare is not worth $50, maybe $5 if the garage was feeling bad for you

      >in the oil pan
coke bricks have been found in oil pans and fuel tanks before, but at that point you already done fricked up and they have your car in the shop.
IIRC fresh water tanks as well on boats

Depends what you're trying to achieve.

Do you want to place your carry gun somewhere more convenient? Do you want to transport your gun? Do you want to use your car as an armoury? Do you want to hide guns?
You have to be really clear in your mind about what you're setting out to achieve.

For me, I carry and if I'm in my car my carry gun is the only one I'm using. I'm at an enormous combat disadvantage so I'm diving out of my car and on that basis I keep my carry gun on me.
Suppress, maneuvor, finish. If someone lights me up my car isn't bulletproof and just limits my visibility, better dive out and avoid taking a second volley at point blank to the face.

Transport a gun? Under the back seat. Nobody can snatch it, it's not visible, and it sounds stupid but all you have to do is lock the back seat to prevent a police search. Fit a locker lock, it's less conspicuous. Thieves won't lift your back seat and if it doesn't come up they don't know how your car works and will just assume the seat doesn't come up or they don't know how to lift it and give up. A safe Is more secure; but if petty much guaranteed to get broken into.

Want to use your car as an armoury?
You want access from the outside of the car, doesn't need to be secure, you can get slide out tool trays for pick ups, fold out trunks, you could just wire them behind the cab, there's no point being sneaky.

Shut up you moron. Truck guns (not "trunk guns", morons constantly mix this up and ruin the whole idea) are for throwing in the back up your pickup for shooting varmints on your land. The tacticool larper trunk gun is just moronic. If it's in the trunk, then you can't fricking use it! And you're not driving around downtown shooting squirrels. If you have a gun in your car it should be on your person/within reach, that is the whole fricking point.
There are 0 scenarios where 1. You desperately need a shitty 9mm carbine 2. The car jacked politely let's you retrieve your shitty PCC from the trunk while holding you up.

Thoughts on hiding a gun in your car door, only accessible when the door is open? Like in the side of the door.

    Pros:
    Gun pointed downwards
Door key is effectively the safe key
not accessible to anyone inside or outside the car.
Not visible identifiable as a storage space
Could fit a long arm or even a vest.

    Cons:
Can't access it yourself while driving
Would have to unlock your door to use it, so if you lost your keys (see: carjacking) it wouldn't help you.
Shock might set off gun kept in wrong condition
Side airbags might have to be removed

I think if you had a rectangular compartment and a pull cord you could rip the cap off and pull out the gun in one motion, and the door bar is big enough mechanically that it could function as a lock. That way even if the locked door was opened the gun couldn't be removed.

For something rural where you're going to be shooting an animal or something with plenty of time to prepare, I legit don't see an issue with it like the people ITT seem to. The idea is to have at least SOMETHING if you're in your car and need it. Most smash and grabs just hit the windows and search the passenger area, nothing fancy.

      Anonymous

      >Most smash and grabs just hit the windows and search the passenger area, nothing fancy
Depends where you are. LA (ranked smash and grab server) has dudes knocking out your back window and pulling down the seats to check the trunk. It takes 5 seconds. If they don't care about the alarm, they could probably pop the trunk and clear any storage space within 20 seconds.

What's the hidden gun for? Spare tire compartment is good for keeping it out of sight but hard to access in a pinch. If you need a gun in a hurry, the best place to have it is on your person, and the best gun to have on you at all times is a handgun. But if you're just transporting your bigger gun somewhere else and need to do it inconspicuously without a need to access it quickly, the spare tire compartment should be fine. If you're worried about smash and grabs, it's probably best to assume anything not bolted down will be found and taken. In that case, don't leave your gun in the spare tire compartment.
