Should I buy some T81 mags while they are in stock?? I don’t even have a T81 but am hoping to catch the rifle if/when they get it in. Or am I taking a gamble on mags which even those could turn prohibited and unsellable?

The lmgs are very fun and surprisingly nice to sling in the bush. Very cool guns, there is just something about them.

I took the bipod off mine because it was kinda rattly and didn't lock up when stowed as tightly as I like, but I think I'm going to leave the carry handle on, it's pretty handy in the bush. Looking to throw a folder on too, maybe a Manticore trapdoor or maybe some kind of tubular stock to make it like a cope FAL 50.61.

Manual action guns like bolts and levers can make up for thier length by being really slender /not bulky (assuming it doesnt have a massive scope)
But yea im aware that fuddy hunting rifles tend to be rather long and heavy, thus i wouldn't carry one recreationally or for animal protection.

                >The 40" long doesn't matter innawoods
Can somewhat depend on how you're carrying your rifle i think, like if it's slung across your chest then its pretty out of the wayy (until you try and sit down) but i often like to carry my guns 1 handed which can cause the muzzle to smash or snag on shit, especially on rougher terrain.
                >10lbs isn't even that bad

There's a lot of coordination, but it's rarely all done at the same time, though they try to minimize the time between each to avoid tip-offs and such. We don't know though, this could have been something that occurred over a month-long period and we're just hearing about its conclusion now.

I know someone who is very nervous right now. They bought serialized and registered P80 frames and seen those rails on gunpost and thought “hey I think I need those for my P80 frames”. Imagine the RCMP raiding your house at 5AM, finding nothing illegal and charging you with “unsafe storage” just to save face forcing you to pay $1000’s in legal fees.

            Anonymous

Well he better get his shit squared away perfectly RIGHT NOW. And call a lawyer just in case, maybe even get the firearms defence insurance. And to finish his P80 and call RCMP to turn it into a barreled firearm. Don't take any chances.

              > And to finish his P80 and call RCMP to turn it into a barreled firearm. Don't take any chances.

                Anonymous

more importantly is to make sure his safe storage is at least double redundant (restricteds trigger locked and in a box with lock and in his cabinet, his ammo stored correctly, nothing loose lying around, his NR trigger locked in his cabinet or safe, clean his dwelling space, and not to open the door for anybody, and free up his credit card and cash reserves. It's probably nothing though, but doesn't hurt to be in the clear as to not give them a single excuse. Also get security camera for the place he stores his guns to catch the cops doing shady shit like taking out his firearm and leaving it around and calling it unsafe storage after.

            Anonymous

There's a very good chance that they did not raid him because he had the registered frame(s), and only had a few rails.
A common theme for these raids across the board seem to be people who do not own a [relevant gun] or don't have a license. I wouldn't be surprised if they screen names and go after outliers
            Also sometimes this

publishing it on RCMP's News section usually means this part is over. https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/news/2023/multi-province-partnership-leads-seizure-privately-made-firearms and it's also a warning to others to act proper.

            Anonymous

the "unsafe storage" stuff is crazy to me. I keep all my guns in a safe in a locked closet and all have trigger/action locks but still the RCMP can write whatever they want on the report and charge me. The worst part is the "not readily accessible to live ammo" if a box of ammo in the same safe as your action locked guns is that considered "readily accessible live ammo"? I don't know and I'm not calling the RCMP to find out.

              Anonymous

              >if a box of ammo in the same safe as your action locked guns is that considered "readily accessible live ammo"?
No, because it's explicitly legal to lock guns and ammo up together. You don't have to have action locks on those guns if they're in a safe either, you're going above and beyond the law

                Anonymous

I guarantee if the arcees charged anon with improper storage, anon would end up exonerated, with a bill for legal fees or at least time off work for court, with his guns and ammo confiscated for months, possibly damaged or "oopsies we accidentally destroyed it," and there would be zero penalty for the arcees.

Anon should have legal insurance. I have a feeling the feds would be less willing to press bullshit charges if they know you have a lawyer on standby that specializes in firearms.

Very low chance since control after a certain point as the velocity drops will be difficult, but yes from a physics perspective it's certainly possible to land a shot in a 6inch circle at 600m with .22LR if you account for all variables in an ideal situation with a perfectly stationary target.

That would have to be one atrocious Aliexpress chinkdot, kek. Or just an old one maybe. I've got a Vortex Crossfire RD on this build, which is the cheapest thing you can get before literal airsoft garbage, and I zeroed my irons off of it at lower 1/3 no problem

because they're fricking morons who don't understand the difference between using RDS by aligning it with irons and simply using irons to zeroing RDS (or vice versa), and constantly misuse term "cowitness" to justify their ignorance.

the only time it could be a problem is if you have a shitty RDS with a real nasty fish eye lens *cough* MRO *cough* and the irons sit very low in the RDS window.

So C-21 was sent to "Consideration in committee" after the Senate sitting tonight. I can't see that taking only 2 days, is it safe to say we're good until the gays in Ottawa finish their summer vacation now?

      Anonymous

Yeah, that sounds like good news. It might even be a deliberate stall tactic because committee deliberations can drag on for ages if they want. Once it comes back from the committee it will require its second vote, and then a third reading and vote before becoming law.

      Anonymous

Who fricking knows, it's a senate committee. It probably exists just to rubber stamp. It's not going to hold the bill up forever like SECU did before they Liberals used dictator powers to pass it

That's true but there are some senators who have been very vocally opposed to C-21, and it only needs to be held up 2 days to get us a reprieve until September.

If I have Astigmatism and want an optic for my Type 81 do I have any choice other than the Primary Arms prism scope? I don't want to spend that much money, I just want a plinker and I'm convinced this thing is going to get banned any day now anyways

Go look at some red dots, astigmatism doesn't necessarily mess them up for you. But yeah a prism scope is fine. The irons are useable too they're just weird to start with.

The prism will work for you but just because you have astigmatism doesn't mean RDSs won't work for you. If you've already tried one and it was a starburst or you can't easily try one, then sure, just get the prism.

It shouldn't. Laser surgery couldn't even fix my astigmatism and I use a Crossfire on my PCC no problem. Again, I think people turn the brightness up to high and then focus on the dot, and of course that'll make it starburst. If you keep the brightness no higher than "comfortably visible" and focus on the target, it's perfectly fine

I don't care that's it's Chink made or owned. I care that Holosun made some significant innovations and brought cool shit to the market at affordable prices, while Aimpoop and Eokek just kept milking 20 year old tech based on muh military contracts.

No, sending it to committee means that the second reading is finished so the bill has progressed. If you look at the makeup of the committee (https://sencanada.ca/en/committees/SECD/44-1) you'll find that of the 11 members, only 2 are Conservatives - the others are from the Independent Senate Group, the Canadian Senators Group, and the Progressive Senators Group who are all left-wing. They might be able to rush it through to a third reading, and it might have to be filibustered (if that's possible) to be stopped.

I have pretty bad stigmatism, that not even LASIK could fix, and I just use regular red dots. I don't really understand why people say they're unusable. ammo is like $2/rd, it is for collecting now rather than a cheap surp gun

Parts are easy to find, ammo is a b***h. Plus a lot of the Enfields out there now are worn out as frick with terrible headspace and bores. There was something about the separate bolt head design that made the headspace deteriorate far worse than comparable rifles from the same era. If you're debating between the two, do yourself a favour and just get the CZ. Enfields are basically just collectors items now.

Navy vets, I have a question.
When I was at NAS Pensacola in the 70's one of the instructors said that the Canadians usually won any kind of ASW competition. That's ancient history now but I noticed that Canada found the first trace of the missing submersible. Evidently they did it using a single P3 which, ironically, is the same equipment they would have had in the ancient era I mentioned above. Does the Canadian navy have any generally acknowledged aptitude for ASW?

More or less. You want it a few inches above the wound, cranked as tight as you can get it through the buckle, and then turn the windlas (handle) until the bleeding stops. Then secure the windlas in the plastic clips and mark the time either on the casualty or the tourniquet, so that the real doctors will know how long blood flow has been cut off. It's not rocket science, but it is still good to get instruction and practice.

The bolt closes when you release your finger off the trigger. It can make a click clack noise shooting if you slow things down a bit. You can also lock the bolt to run it straight pull style.

Savage 64s any good? Thinking about getting a takedown for a beater pack rifle

      Anonymous

Savages 64s are supposed to be pretty good and they have 20 round magazines now. The takedown is a minimalist design. Looks like you have to take a stubby grip or rawdog the barrel. 10/22 takedowns and A22 takedowns are normal 22s that break down. Depends what you're going for. The 64 takedown is very reasonably priced.

        Anonymous

Don't really know what I want anon. I got a little badger last year and hate the rear sight. I like that it fits in a day pack so I can carry it alongside a centrefire, strongly considering a Henry ar-7 tbh.

I also have an interest in getting a 10/22 t/d or the savage t/d for when I'm using a bigger pack.

          Anonymous

10/22 td isn't much bigger. The only difference is the barrel has the foregrip. If you were thinking if both, you could also pimp a 10/22 takedown. You can buy a shorter barrel with an optic on it. If you want to go nuts you could get a chassis with a collapsing or folding stock. Stock/chassis choice determines how short of a barrel you can get away with.

            Anonymous

I've found a good price on the ar-7 that's why I'm leaning that way. Maybe I should just shell out for the 10/22 though.

Considering a Bushnell trs25 for the little badger

              Anonymous

The Ar-7 is a neat design and top tier for stowing. I get the impression they're not the best to run up the round count. If you're bringing 100s of rounds with you and planning on shooting it a ton, something else would be better.
A red dot would definitely improve a little badger. I wish that gun cost a little more but had good sights, or they were at least mounted in a standard way for an easy swap.

Honestly ever since I played modern welfare on xbox as a teenager i’ve loved that gun. I’d say it’s one of my all time favourites just because of how unique it is. It’s restricted right?

I have a .380 one, has a bit more pop than the .32.

I’d take it chambered in anything just would like to own one. I say .32 because isn’t that the standard for modern vz61?

      Anonymous

Check if it still has rifling and no pitting or rust.

      Anonymous

Look for inconsistencies in the rifling, i.e. if it looks higher or lower in certain spots. Look for pitting/holes/corrosion related issues that affect the barrel. Check if it's still true/straight by putting something straight flat up against it if possible i.e. compact level or ruler. Inspect the crown for dents or damage that would indicate it was dropped from a height. Check the breach for chips or pitting that would indicate if it's been fed hot loads or the wrong calibers at any point. Check for hairline cracks, especially around the breach, that would indicate hot loads or pressure spikes.

Some other funs on that site have been priced to sell. Maybe that is the case although with C21 looming I wouldn’t be waiting to advertise anything (if they had it in stock and not listed) but I guess that is how they do business

The T81s are the only semi-autos on their site which would be threatened by the committee that C-21 sets up. My suspicion is that the demand for the SR and LMG is pretty much nonexistent, with most people preferring the ordinary folding stock (I say this as someone who owns the LMG).

Nta but they would never replace a t81 for it's crookedly mounted barrel. There are tolerances from factory, if it stays between them they are passed. All the "bbbent" barreled rifles are in spec.

Excellent post. Personally I'm pretty neutral to cats but fanatic cat owners are either liberals or losers. They can't control their own lives so they prefer a pet that takes care of itself and walks all over them. Owning a dog, a creature that needs training, is unfathomable for them because they can't discipline themselves let alone another being.

What's the usual sale price for a 10/22 takedown backpacker 16.4"?

Should I pay $850 all in for one?

      Anonymous

That seems expensive but everything seems expensive, maybe that's normal nupal prices but I bet you could put one together cheaper than $850

      Anonymous

that's about average, they range from $800-900 unless you get them on sale, I saw one at my LGS for $749.99 around Christmas

if you absolutely must have a .22LR gun that breaks in half I guess that's what you're gonna pay, 10/22 have reached meme status at this point so you're inevitably paying $300-400 more than you should for any of the variants

Same thing that happens in basically any northern town in Canada - not much. Hopefully it's a job with some good security to it, only major downside to small town/northern living is there aren't a lot of other options (possibly none) if you lose your job.

It's pretty secure. The kinda job if I lose it there it's because the company needed me else where. I like that there's a giant fishing lake bigger then the town. Hoping it's a lower chug population area.

Northern chugs are usually relegated to reserves, unless there's one really close by you'll be just fine and it'll be 99% white.
Small town northern living is great if you hate cities and everything they entail. You're close to public land that you can just go onto and shoot your funs, totally unmolested and since there's no petty city c u c k s around you don't have to deal with their complaints about noise or snobbery.

Not necessarily, but I will say the amount of boys who smoke darts is astounding. When I lived south and near the city smoking was a taboo that only the bluest of collared workers engaged in. Now I see guys sucking back ciggies all the time, every other car at the gas station is there picking up smokes.
