Belladonna IS tasty! That's why it kills people every year. They assume if it's sweet and not bitter it must not be poisonous.
Thanks for your help, everyone! I will NOT eat it, and try to uproot it completely so that none of the neighborhood strays try to take a nibble. Hope you all have a great weekend!
Some nightshade species are considered edible (sometimes after thermal treatment), other are considered poisonous (or extremely poisonous).
For instance, nightshades are closely related to tomatoes and potatoes – 'xxx nightshade' is the name given to most plants in the 'solanum' genus, and both tomatoes and potatoes are in the 'solanum' genus.
Obviously it's a bad idea to eat a plant you did not identify with a high degree of certainty, especially if it's similar to a large number of toxic plants.

For those who claim that it is the deadly nightshade ('atropa belladonna'): it is not.
Look at the flowers:

Some photos of the white and yellow flowers
The belladonna has brownish-purple flowers with petals grown together in form of a tube. (Pic is wiki stock photo; flowers I've seen were darker.)
OP's plant has white flowers with petals pointing backwards.
It's good you remembered the lesson form your parents that you should not touch berries that look like this one; but do grow up. That lesson was good for kids, and should be given to kids. You're big boys now, you can tell apart similar plants. Not each one similar to a poisonous one is poisonous.
Not each one pointed by your parents/friends/whoever as poisonous is poisonous; sometimes it's just parts of the plant that is poisonous, sometimes the people told you that in good faith, but they just knew shit. (And so do 'fake news' about plants spread, it's been like this for ages.)

>I know it looks like Atropa Belladonna, but it might not be. So you should try it and find out.
Only on /b/ should something this utterly stupid be suggested. Frick off and have a nice day before you kill someone else.

Some nightshade species (solanum)?
I have no idea how the heck it got here. Can it just grow randomly? Like a weed? That is disappointing all the same
Birds aren't affected by the toxins. They eat the berries and poop out the seeds. That's how the plant propagates naturally.

I know it's going against every one in the thread but this species of nightshade is edible https://youtu.be/u7ijgvlRqPE
I've eaten it before it's like a mix of tomatoes and mild blueberries

Deadly nightshade!
It's a brown recluse or a FAMAS.

Just drop your pictures into Google lense. It's really accurate at identifying plants, at least big brother is useful for something
