Can I get Home Defence arms suggestions for short kings (manlets)? I'm 5'6" and have a wife I'd like to be able to protect if the worst happens but most shotguns are comicly frickhueg next to me. I'm aware of the shockwave but would like something that has an armbrave or actual stock if possible.
Frick ya mudda
It's amazing how hard and how long you've tried to make this shitty meme catch on. Move on to something else
what kind of a question is this? just get an AR and 9mm doublestack. Put a light on both, a sling on the rifle. Red dots are nice but not 100% necessary. Any reliable handgun with decent capacity and the ability to mount a light is fine for such use. For the AR either brace an 11.5" or get a 14.5 or 16 with a stock of decent manufacture(bottom line is BCM). Leave enough room in your budget to test fire several hundred rounds of whatever ammo you intend to use for defense. Its 2024, this shit aint rocket science.
Maybe I should I found/waited-for a "QTDDTOT" thread. That said, aren't shotguns the gold-standard for home defence?
>this is referring to only within the home HD
Nah, they're kinda niche tbqh. They make the biggest holes but are longer and harder recoiling than alternatives, also if youre talking about a pump action then its a manually actuated firearm which introduces its own issues. Pretty much any rifle of reasonable caliber and decently loaded will put an attacker either down or dead in one round, maybe two. They also have significant other downsides once you move outside of this niche. You really shouldnt chase after using a shotgun if they dont fit you well, youre no worse off armed with an AR and debatably better armed depending on circumstance.
Thank you for the actually thorough response. I know that with handguns you can load HP rounds if pierce-through of walls is a concern, but I am unaware if there are similar rounds designed for intermediate caliber arms. Are there? Or would you just advise "if you're in a situation where a gun is needed, follow-through is the least of your concerns"?
There's light loaded 5.56/.223 rounds that are pretty effective that don't penetrate too much. Frangible ammo is also a thing as well. Any decent soft point/HP should work, just watch some videos if anyone tested it for barrier penetration.
for .223/5.56 just make sure to get HP or SP (Soft Points). Personally I use the PMC Bronze .223 soft points.
No they are not. Get an ar15 you fool.
Maybe I'll get an AR-10 just to spite you.
Shotguns aren't a bad weapon but I'd rather a rifle. 12g might have a statistical edge when it comes to one-hit stops but I 5.56 ain't fair off. In return you get faster follow-up shots, better odds of penning armor (unlikely to matter I'll admit since most home invaders don't wear shit but on the off-chance I get hit by a incorrectly addressed no-knock warrant I want to take some pigs down with me), more rounds on tap and better performance at range. Rifles are also easier for inexperienced shooters to handle if your vwife gets caught while you're out. Tbh, none of the theoretical advantages of either weapon are likely to make a difference in reality so don't stress over it.
PCCs are a shit option though. There's a significant step down in your chance of a one-hit incapacitation when it comes to pistol rounds compared to 5.56 or 12g. That's a fricking important metric in a situation where someone might be shooting back at you. And the recoil from an AR is pretty negligible anyway.
There are plenty of 5.56 rounds on the market designed specifically for low barrier penetration in a home defense scenario, really though most light-weight high-velocity rounds will either fragment or yaw and destabilise upon hitting a barrier. I've seen a fair number of youtube videos demonstrating 5.56 passing through fewer panels of drywall than pistol rounds or 00 buck. Obviously avoid anything like M855 which was designed for barrier penetration.
>There's a significant step down in your chance of a one-hit incapacitation
Luckily, a 9mm PCC doesn't just have one round, it's got 30+1. Mine is the easiest gun to shoot I own, stays almost completely level with extremely rapid fire. Plus, it probably won't even wake up by upstairs neighbor if I ever have to use it. The only people who think it's a """"shit option"""" are tactical timmys who autistically minmax everything they do because they first came to guns from video games. If you think it's a shit option, how about you come over and let me magdump 30 rounds of 147gr HP into your center of mass.
With guns, "gold standard" means "fuddlore"
it's debatable, but if you're a manlet the AR-15 is what you want. Personally I'd recommend get a 14.5" barrel and get the flash suppressor pin and welded. That's the only regret I have about mine.
Also git gud with the pistol. They're easier to access, even from a safe and can be used one handed.
>5'6
I suggest rope
Made it 33 years thus far, seems a waste to end it at this point.
I recommend a large war hammer and a suit of mithril armor
you could swing around from a rope tied to the ceiling like tarzan or something
I feel like you're giving me mixed messages, fren.
How is he supposed to be able to hang the rope up? Ask for help?
this
couple of whip whacks and the genetic memory will force the melanated intruder into submission
Mini-14 or SKS unironically
how are pccs for home defense
that seems to be the going suggestion at the moment actually.
Optimal. Easy to shoot, easily suppressed, and plenty lethal.
OP here, I just wish I didn't "need" a fricking stamp from Uncle Sam for most of them. I have always had a thing for PCCs anyhow.
Easy to handle and have low recoil even when shooting hot as frick 10mm or .44 magnum loads. Unless you’re home invaders where body armor where you live a PCC is fine for home defense.
Only real answer
Impressive bait
Its not bait, I REALLY AM 33 y/o and 5'6". 😛
>:P
I think you should have a nice day, Dilbert.
You're the one claiming its bait, I'm just sayin it aint. I REALLY AM looking for dwarven approved fire-arms for home-defence.
Anon you know they make special short-stocked, short-rack 12g guns for kids who shoot clays, right? You can just buy a "Bantam" model from Mossberg for like $350, they even sell guns with an adjustable stock that gets down to a 10" LoP.
https://palmettostatearmory.com/mossberg-bantam-500-all-purpose-12ga-24.html Here's the Bantam 12g on sale at PSA. Throw a 16" on there and you're good to go. You could also cough up for a coach gun but I'd really rather have 5 rounds on tap than 2. Especially when the two-shot gun is $300-500 more expensive. Hell, you could even get an 18" model 1887 or Black Aces lever-action shotty, those are extremely handy.
Ar15
Ar pistol
Shookedwave shitgun
Pistol
Dblbarreled gats dont need to fit a reciprocating action and might be a bit shorter.
Look for an Adjustable stock
Short barreled muzlleloading shortbarreled shitgun
20 gauge if recoil is a bit much(or take the dwarfpill and become a BOX)
NFA route?
Damn, not just double-aught, but quad-aught? Nice get. I COULD go NFA but that also feels cucked somehow. Maybe I should just become a BOX like you suggest. Not that 12ga actually felt too bad when I shot it for funs last.
As far as size of shitgun pellets.
Any buckshot will do just fine.
Unless you go muzzleloader short barreled shotgun route: Black powder/and BP substitutes
in short barrels
produces low velocityes
get anything larger then a 00 to make up the difference and if you can.
Get a large bore muzzleloading shotgun. 12 gauge and up
Bp can produce significant recoil but it is more of a push then a kick.
If modern gats are your thing keep reading
There is a statistic where hd/selfdefense resoults WERE COMPARED when using (ALL)rifles (ALL) shotguns used .
The resoults were nearly identical.
IMO The Reason why is because both are stocked weapons (can stabilise it a lot more and shoot accurately with it ) with fairly potent ammunition. All are at least above 900 ftlbs of energy, most options are well above that number.
For comparison a 9mm is aboot 400 ftlbs, and 10mm around 700-800 ftlbs.
So 20g, 12g.16g 00, 000, no4 buck. Dont fret over it.
9 pellets from a 00 will have more or less the same energy as 21 no 4 buck pellets at very close range. And both will make mincemeat out of limbs, bones and organs when it comes to humanoid targets.
The choice is ultimately yours
That makes literally zero sense you moronic mongoloid.
doesn't have to when I frick ya mudda
I. I DON'T HAVE TO (make sense). Learn to fricking speak you imbecile.
I'd rather frick ya mudda
Youth Stocks and models exist.
You're arguing with a different anon, I'm the guy who originally called you out. Are you mentally ill? Serious question
Nah, I just like to frick ya mudda
Is this seriously all you do all day? Seen you consistently post the same thing for over a year
I frick ya mudda all day
I suggest a model Bull (preferably made between 85-95) for your wife. A small little male like yourself could never.
Wow. I guess /misc/ is right, some people really are Black person brained at this point. I'm sorry to learn you are one of the people suffering the affliction.
Sorry little short buddy, I'm black.
lol, lmao even. "I'm not Black person brained, I'm just a literal Black person." Go to bed and contemplate how you could potentially make the world a better place for everyone, including your own ilk. I know it will be difficult but its worth trying.
Damn, you're mad little guy.
my 14yo daughter is legit as tall as you lol
And? Clearly I've come to terms with this or I wouldn't have even bothered creating this thread.
I'm 5'8 tbh any glock or AR will fit you well at 5'6
>pistol
g19
>rifle
Daniel Defense block ii with an FSP
Optic: Aimpoint t2 or eotech exps3 (try both before you buy)
Light: Arisaka 600 series complete light ex2t head surefire ue tailcap with a surefire sr07 pressure pad
back up iron sights if you want them: Magpul MBUS (Pros but they cost more than normal)
>cheaper rifle setup alternative
aero lower, bcm upper
light: streamlight pro tac hlx with pressure pad
optic: holosun or aimpoint pro
backup iron sights only if you want them: Magpul MBUS
don't buy any other guns for home defense
I’m 5’7” and use a block 2 too but the non-fsp model. Love that fricking gun.
Here's a 5' Japanese girl shooting my Benelli Nova. If she can handle it than so can you.
That said, just get an AR unless you're in a super-cucked state, in which case something like a Ruger PC Carbine is a decent option assuming the home you're defending is a normal-sized urban/suburban one.
More of her please
4'9 stacked DWARF here
Just use a regular 18in 12 gauge shotgun like a Maverick 88 if you're an El Cheapo or build an 8.5-11" 300 blk AR pistol
Double stacked handguns like Beretta 92 variants are worthy of consideration too
My Black person I'm 5'5" and I can use a regular shotgun just fine. If you have little T-Rex arms or something, buy one that has a Magpul SGA stock. You can adjust those to be ridiculously short
Marines your height fought room to room with M16s and ACOGs. Get good, b***h.
Get a Ks7 and a recoil pad.
>short king
>wife
>5'6"
>Not getting two guns and become picrel
Not even trying
Get a dog. A loud dog. Will scare away any intruder. People don't want to get bit by dogs and they don't want to kill dogs either.
mossberg 500 with a 18.5inch barrel for home defense shouldn't look too big next to you. Stick on the 28" hunting barrel and that would probably change.
You could also get a 16" ar-15 with a collapsible stock.
i don't get this thread, the average height of ww1 soldiers were malnourished sub 5'6" city dwellers and they were perfectly capable of using frickhueg spear length bolt action rifles, why would firearm length be an issue for that height
Because they shot them from trenches and in CQB used them as spears.
For other conflicts like the Boer war, where they weren't using trenches like that, they were shooting at people out in the open hundreds of yards away, not doing door to door fighting (and if they were, they probably just would've used bayonets).
how will u protect urself from getting cucked when ur wife sneaks from ur house to frick chad or tyrone ?
Absolutely wild that there a full grown male adults who are less than 6 feet tall.
Ive handed 100s of 12 year old boys and girls 12g o/u to shoot clays.
Anyway AR15
> but most shotguns are comicly frickhueg next to me
Are you only looking at 30 in barreled hunting shotguns? I have no problem swinging around anything with an 18-20 inch barrel and I’m only an inch taller than you. That said, if you don’t feel like you can handle a long gun then if it is legal for you to do so get a pistol for your nightstand. Otherwise but up, lift weights, and get used to shooting big boy guns.
I guess I'm mostly comparing against the shotguns the local hardware + gun store has which are, mostly longer than ~20 inche barrels.
For what its worth I own a Mosin Nagant, but its one of the factory refit types that was shortened to a more carbine size and that thing is incredibly fun to shoot, and while it does kick pretty good that hasn't been bad at all.
Buy something with a 20 inch barrel then. Hell, some shotguns you can interchange different barrel lengths if you ever want to use it for hunting too.
