Can I actually fix AKG headphones?

They keep breaking every year, so I'm kinda tired of buying new headphones once a year.

HD598's? Mine are still kicking, haven't even had to replace the pads yet. I'll be so sad when they finally die.

I don't know, can you? I mean I could but I'm not you so, you know, it's on you. You might consider posting something besides the Amazon ad too, like maybe the fricking broken headphones? maybe describe HOW they're broken?

      >maybe describe HOW they're broken?
I mean, how many ways can they be broken?
When I move my head around, the audio of the left phone gets corrupted, making the audio sound like scratching.

I'd imagine some wire inside the phone has been turn, not sure how. I have dropped this headshot maybe 3 times over a year, and the last time was like like 6 months ago, so it appeared out of nowhere.

        >I'd imagine
so take it apart you stupid frick. figure out what is loose, put something on it to keep it from pulling away when you turn your head, put it back together.

I have like 3 pairs of K240's, a few K271's etc, K280 para and K7x & K8x Headphones and first off, the frick are you doing?
            Secondly.
Just buy the parts bro? Everything is replaceable bro.
The frick is wrong with you? You're buying studio headphones, besides sounding reasonable, that's what they're made for bro. Just buy the fricking parts.

            >there is a chance I can't put it back together
You can, unless you got gimp hands. I got gimp hands and I can do it, you can too moronbro.

Depends on what part is breaking...

If its the connectors, you can chop them off and solder in something more robust like an mmcx connector.

If its the headband then you can model and 3D print something. PETG or Nylon would probably be the most robust for that usecase.

If the speakers themselves are blowing up then stop buying shitty AKGs

            >If the speakers themselves are blowing up
Pretty sure you'd have to be super moronic to kill K240 drivers.

            >Sennheiser
My corporation can beat up your corporation

Maybe don't buy shit that breaks in a year???

Based, my first pair of HD25's is still going strong, replaced the earpads, band a couple times, cable a few and screw once. Amazing little workhorse tbh.

fricking zoomies. let's consider our options:
            >pitch them in the bin and buy new ones
            >try to fix them
now what happens if you FAIL at trying to fix them? they go in the garbage. you lose ABSOLUTELY FRICKING NOTHING and might even learn something for next time.

Seriously how do you fricking homosexuals even exist?

When my AKGs broke I bit the bullet and bought some DT 880 pros. This was 5 years ago and I haven't had a single issue since. They also sound much better

My cloudx nines are still alive with only one earphone working, I've gotten used to having no audio balance. The cheap shitty plug in microphone was the first thing to shit itself. Think it’s been 6-7 years they’ve worked but I gotta check.

if you had bought sony MDR-7506, the actual headphones that literally all audio professionals and musicians that actually make a living use, and which cost 90 dollars, the answer would be yes, obviously, because they come with a detailed schematic and assembly instructions in the box and a parts list with information for how to order replacement parts.

      *raffs in german*
So do almost all other studio headphones.
K240s have the same breakout schematic available, all of their studio phones do. It's only consumer shit that doesn't, even then even a good chunk of their consumer line has their parts listed and available too.

The problem with buying the MDR-7506 because it has a schematic? You've bought an MDR-7506!

My AKG K702 stopped working one day.
Turned out it was just shoddy soldering and one of the wires inside got loose. Just had to remove some shrink tubing and solder it back on.

You would think they'd do a better job for headphones that expensive. At least you can take them apart pretty easily with precision screwdrivers.

Yeah, I’ve had the same issue with mine but I drop them a lot. Great sound and easy to work on but the tiny wires come unsoldered easily. Thinking about replacing the wire with heavier gauge silver wire or something.

Same with mine. Repaired and they're still going strong 15 years later. They don't get a lot of use now that I have nice speakers and a place of my own but well worth the money

I've been abusing a pair of Sony MDR V6's since like 2015. I thought they'd break in a few years and I could upgrade but they won't quit. I'm on my third pair of foam pads and this pair wore all the fake pleather off and now they're just stinky ear fabric
