Hey, I live in WI and was thinking of getting into building an ar-15 from a kit. I've always been interested in how guns are built, I'm not much of a huge shooting person, I'd like to go to the range for fun once in a while, but I don't like hunting or violence. So I think it would be cool to build one rather than buy one I guess. Where do I start? Where can I buy a kit? Live in Wisconsin. Can I have it ordered to my house? I think it will be fun to do for my 21st birthday.
Buy the upper you think looks cool
Buy the lower you think looks cool
Put the two together
You'll probably end up paying more than some bone stock SW/Ruger whatever on the wall but it'll look how you want it.
>You'll probably end up paying more
Idk maybe if you make the most moronic parts choices imaginable. It's really not hard to put a free float ar-15 together for less than $700 and that's being generous.
>You'll probably end up paying more
If you wait till black friday, have some light tools already, and are cool you can slap a crummy ar together for 250 bones.
I did this, went to the range and gun wouldnt fire
>hey range officer, why wont my gun fire?
>range officer pulls back the bolt carrier
>there's no bolt
That's when I learned I had a room temperature IQ.

Frick you, butthole. Why is everyone here rude to me because I'm not a gun toting psycho?
i regret giving you genuine advice
>because I'm not a gun toting psycho
You just answered your own question, gay. Get more psychotic, tote more guns, then come back and ask questions see how it goes.
This is the board for fun toting psychos you Black persontard
I was going to offer real advice, but then I realized you weren't the type who should own guns
Enjoy your lefty hellscape
Frick ya mudda
It's to weed out you useless b***hes.
You sound like a little b***h. People are generally willing to help here but he has a point in that you could figure plenty of this out yourself instead of coming to this part of the internet.
was going to offer genuine advice, then i realized you were a homosexual. consider suicide you mechanically uninclined liberal penis munching monkey

>Where do I start?
unironically you'd be good cruising r/ar15 for awhile to pick up on some more stuff about ARs the the community as a whole.
>So I think it would be cool to build one rather than buy one I guess.
Carefully selecting and putting together your parts scratches the same nerve as building PCs or fricking with cars, but there are some decent ARs you can buy whole if you end up deciding to.
>Where can I buy a kit? Can I have it ordered to my house?
All parts EXCEPT for the lower receiver can be ordered to your home. Because the lower receiver is considered "the gun", it goes to a Federal Firearm License dealer. Basically a gun shop. You put their info in the order and it ships to them. Just find your nearest LGS that you like.
You don't really build one so much as assemble it. It's very easy and you should do so, as said, everything but the lower can be sent directly to you. But if you're going to be
this gay you can suck a dick and get off my board. Nobody wants you sensitive homosexual ass zoomers.

Frick off, zoomer. Nobody's impressed.
Sure thing tourist. Cope how you want.
>yeah yehah guys look i'm totally one of you!
Back to /arg/, seethe and dilate, ynbaw
Ok gay. Please go back.
if you have a CNC machine you can mill your own billet. otherwise you can buy a 80% lower and finish the drilling process with whatever you have. they sell kits and guides. I recommend a drop in trigger pack and not an installed trigger pack. drop in triggers are overall superior. the rest of the build is just buying the gun parts and installing.
if you want to actually 0-1 build your rifle you will need a more extensive background in gun-smithing. you will probably want a 3D resin printer, a wood carving set, or something for the furniture. you will need either a cold hammer-forge and die set or a rifling jig. in addition to that you will also need a:
>drill press
>CNC
>lathe
>forge
>hand tools
I would also keep a good stock of various grades and shapes of metals.
Straight up AI post. Pic is just a bunch of post ban Bushmasters.
Just get a psa kit. It's so easy that you could give it to a 6 year old kid with 1 year of Legos experience and they could probably manage. The takedown detents are difficult to install without shooting them into low earth orbit so I would recommend checking out a YouTube life hacks video on how to install the detent without launching them. You do need some tools you may not have, like a castle nut wrench and a roll pin punch. A vise with an ar15 block is a good idea but you can probably manage without.

It is best to hunt to provide and sustain life, like how the wolf or the coyote hunts the deer. It's not because it is a fun thing to do, but a way of life. Rifles are certainly very cool, but you should have a good reason to own one.
The purpose of a rifle is to kill, that's what it's made for. Shooting a deer humanely and killing it quickly in a single shot requires accuracy and skill, as well as knowledge. This provides meat to feed you and your family for a long time, just like nature provides deer for the wolf.
It's pretty simple when broken down into parts. You have the lower receiver, which is the most based part of the gun. It's consider a 100% legal firearm by the ATF, but an 80% receiver can be purchased for under a hundred bucks just like anything else as a non-FFL item. Wisconsin does not prohibit this, so you can build your own rifle without even registering or licensing the gun.
The lower receiver holds the trigger, magazine, and fire controls. The upper receiver cycles and fires the round into the barrel, which is surrounded by these barrel shrouds you see. The upper receiver can also be mounted with optics like scopes. Then there is the grip, self-explanatory, and the stock, which is the butt-end for resting on your shoulder.
So, you can buy a 80% receiver for pretty cheap and go from there, but a rifle is just a simple machine made of parts. Even if you buy it complete, it can be disassembled and reassembled. I would really consider learning proper gun safety for safely storing and operating a rifle before buying one. You want to prevent any accidents, as it is a dangerous weapon. None of these things are difficult to learn with a bit of online searching and reading, especially regarding your local laws and how guns work.
>It's considered* a 100% legal firearm by the ATF, but an 80% receiver can be purchased for under a hundred bucks just like anything else as a non-FFL item.
Them boys can't take guns that they don't even know you own.
You see, they are left at the mercy of their ignorance, to only ponder which firearms you own and in which quantities, when you exercise your Constitutional right to build your own guns.
Don't build. It's only going to save money if you build more than 3-5 of them, and if you frick it up you end up with scratches on your gun, missing parts, and a bent upper receiver. I had all of these on my first build, I was careful and bought all the proprietary tools. Just didn't work out, I wish I had just bought a professionally assembled upper & lower.
Dude there's 16 year olds with how to videos out there what the frick?

Can you even use the fricking internet? Can you even put in a modicum for leg work for something you're apparently "interested in?" Let me guess, you're interest is from videogames of some consumer media, not from history or reading or museums or for sport or anything like that. Just a shallow pathetic passing thing like everything else in your meaningless life. Another waste among the wastoids that increasingly make up your once decent state.
> I think it will be fun to do for my 21st birthday.
You won't do anything certainly not purchase or assemble a firearm.
