Post budget gear you have experience with that exceeded your expectation. Just bought pic related. Lesser-known brand that was shilled by a couple of reviewers as being competition towards $250 Vortex/Leupold offerings. Decided to pull the trigger but expected them to be mediocre, didn't care for $100 though. Pleasantly surprised, they are crystal clear. They are on sale right now if anyone wants some good cheap binoculars.
PSA premium upper.
No.
Yes plus Anderson lower.
Dead in the streets.
Yes. Over 6k rounds and still no issue.
OVER ONE MILLION ROUNDS, NO PROBLEMS.
I wish.
ah the classic poor cope of "I have 6 gorrilion rounds and it hasn't jammed once" just stop anon
Seriously. If you want cheap range toys, by all means. But even anon's pathetic life is worth a few hundred dollars more for at least a mid level AR.
>at least a mid level AR.
PSA premium uppers are mid level tho, the barrels are CHF and made by FN.
You just showed you are a LARPer who doesn’t know what they are talking about.
The point of failure on cheap ARs isn't generally the barrel, it's trash BCGs, running dog shit carbine gas systems, etc.
Enjoy carving out your charging handle channel every time you load your gun because they glopped on an extra 1/8" of park there.
That’s what makes it mid tier tho, they pair a top tier barrel with low tier parts elsewhere and it averages out lol
No, it really doesn't. Stoppages are stoppages.
Okay guy, nothing is perfect, and their BCG are still milspec.
Here is a dead KAC BCG for you, begin coping now
Do you not get that the point is just spending a little more gets you something that isn't prone to vacationing in PSA's warranty office?
But it isn't prone to doing that. It works fine.
PSA PREMIUM IS JUST AS GOOD, WHY BUY A PROVEN MID TIER BRAND?!?
Lol that PSA upper is better in that comparison tho.
Better rail and barrel.
I'll take a Ballistic Advantage over a FN any day.
If I’m spending my own money on it, sure, I’m not a rich guy.
I have a BA Hanson in my 11.3”
But if it wasn’t my money, or I was rich, I would pick the FN barrel.
They're definitely GOOD barrels, but chrome lined on a semi only rifle is a meme. You're not shooting corrosive ammo, not mag dumping constantly in FA, etc, so it's definitely not worth the accuracy loss.
I doubt most people can shoot well enough to even notice a difference, and most of the difference is probably more so finding which ammo works best with that specific barrel.
Stop posting cope. You can buy/build a better gun for the same money.
The problem is that they're constantly updating their AK offerings, which is great, but their QC still misses an unacceptable amount of issues. PSA can TOTALLY build a great gun, but they aren't the cheapest anymore so there's little reason to risk your money imo.
>You're not shooting corrosive ammo
But I am.
>spend “just” a little more
>litterally 3x the price for a sandcutter bcg ($100 basic milspec bcg vs $300)
> still fails
Beautiful cope
I never mentioned KAC, the noguns did. I said a MID level AR.
A mid-level AR doesn’t have a fancy BCG either.
Both PSA premium and BCM have C-158 bolts that have been MPI’d.
The only difference might be one is a phos coating and the other is nitride, or maybe nickel.
Honestly, BCM’s days of being one of the best bang-for-your-buck are over. They aren’t anything special, and their prices have inflated from what they once were.
No one said "fancy", just properly assembled and actually quality controlled. PSA BCGs are often tolerance stacked to hell, unstaked, roughly finished, etc.
That hasn’t really been true in the last 8 years or so, but their QC was definitely shit back in the day.
Yeah, ok. They still can't make an AK not chew itself apart, or make sure they ship Daggers with all the roll pins installed, kek.
Lol I’m not an AK guy, but Garand’s test of their AK is not that surprising tbh.
I don’t think he has put out an updated durability test after they updated it, has he?
The BCG they used in their premium is carpenter 158, which is more than fine. If you want, buy the one with no BCG and buy one of your liking.
For me it's aero precision. I have 4 builds done and I love all of them
I own two KACs and a LMT, the PSA is just for shits and giggles. Sorry you're too poor and can't afford shit to fuck around with.
>I own two KACs
Why did you spend thousands when PSA is just as good?
Based.
They just work.
Your mum
Decathlon MH100 tent, Decathlon in general is very decent unless you go for the cheapest things.
+1
Yeah Decathlon really does punch above its weight
+1
Is there a specific model that's recommended? Looks like there are several
>fancy feast stove
Less than $1, and you can make a great windscreen from soda cans. Sort of a DIY thing, but definitely cheap.
>Double Diamond down throw
These can be found at Costco. You can double it over width wide and use it as a cheap under quilt. They’re good to about 45°, supposedly. But again, somewhat of a DIY thing (there are no tie outs, but you can use grommets or clips).
>poncho liner under quilt
Same as above, but shittier. Par for the course because milsurp.
>32 Degrees hooded down jacket
32 Degrees is the brand. Found at TJ Max for about $30, sometimes less. I mean it’s cheap but for $30 it works surprisingly well.
>old models
Big companies begin discounting their stuff this time of year, before the newer models are released at the start of summer. Lots of 25% off sales right now (but still pricey).
>grease pot and Imusa mugs
Cheap pots found at Walmart and on Amazon. Their both aluminum and under $10. No handle on the grease pot (the Trangia handle works) and no lid on the Imusas ($8 or DIY from a pie tin).
Soda cans are lined, i'd spend a couple dollars for something else.
It’s a wind screen…
Plastic near flame is bad, mmkay.
Why? Fumes when outside? Too close to food that completely covered? You bought into a meme, and you don’t go out.
>spend money on a thing that isn’t commercially available
Capita: gay88
32 degree is actually great poorfag stuff. I've got 3 underlayer sets (leggings and shirt) and while it's not the warmest, it's warm and comfortable and breathes well.
For like $15 for 3, can't be beat.
I recommend them for all budget minded outists
>>Double Diamond down throw
>These can be found at Costco.
I wish they could still be found, but they haven’t been carried for a couple years now, and unfortunately all the blankets that are similar are either smaller or overpriced meme brands like Puffle
What about wool blankets? I mean, if weight isn't a priority.
They seem to range from like $25 to hundreds.
This. Though, it's mostly because PrepHole is a shithole right now. They're being forced out.
Post a picture of a potato sack in a thread about food and get a three day suspension. Post about weapons not pertaining to their use in the outdoors and the jannies are too busy dilating to do anything about it.
Even if I agree, don't be such a whiney crybaby about it. Most chud jannies and mods aren't awake yet.
The gun chatter started 3 days ago.
Lmao 100 dollar for a shitty tiny 100x42mm what a deal hahaha. Maybe just send me your money next time atleast it would be going somewhere.
what's bad about that? the fact that they are relatively compact for a 10x42 is actually impressive. go ahead and show us an alternative for near the same money...
I've had this geertop tent for a few years now and it has exceeded my expectations. Bought as kind of a "we'll get there" until I saved enough for a nicer tent and it has held up really well. I'm 5 10 and it's about as small as I can handle though do keep that in mind. I use a carbon fiber tent pole made for trekking pole tents so the total weight comes in under 2.5lbs
I saw a Youtube review of this tent and there was literally no waterproofing on the fly's seam stitches, and that meant thing leaked like a sieve.
One or two minor leaks that have to be filled in by the customer is not the worst thing ever. Pretty much the whole thing leaked in this video though and that's unacceptable.
I did buy it a few years ago at this point, could be that the company has cheapened the manufacturing even more by now or that his is defective. However, thats not my tent it's a different model from the same company
I just bought a $50 pair of binoculars (Celestron Outland X 8x25) and they do everything I need them to do. You really don't need to blow your budget on a $200 pair unless you're a sniper or a professional photographer or something.
To answer your question, pic related has never let me down despite being a made in china no-name brand. Though payed $33 CAD for it a year ago, crazy how much it's gone up in price in such a short time.
>no name
Corona is not a "no-name" brand. I have a corona folding saw too, and it's great.
>doesn't know about "chinese companies"
it's all state, dude
thats why is says CHINA on it- thats the brand, not where its from
These are damn good battery packs for charging & running small appliances. AC and DC outlets, solar compatible, 150 wH, car charger for the battery is included. I ran my 28in monitor for about 10 hrs at full charge. Was surprised at how efficient these things are for under $130
This thread is another great example that this place is constantly being flooded by PrepHole. There is no crossover, kids. Stay in your containment zone.
Shut up gay. Before there was even an PrepHole you fags shit up PrepHole and PrepHole
>tacitly admits he’s shitting up the board
Please leave.
Nope. I'm gonna go make a new thread with out checking out the catalog. Maybe one about knives.
Average liberal agenda enjoyer
>commences the loud, slow clap
Fuck PrepHoleommandos. I cringe at how shitty that board and its users are.
cry more about it bitch.
This is PrepHole subhumans. Oldfags use multiple boards because funzies.. what kind of retard only goes to one board. The toxic boards are /mlp/ and PrepHole with PrepHole as a runner up. /mlp/ is furry cancer, PrepHole is Dunning Kruger central and PrepHole is fat people spamming fast foot and fat pill threads. The problem with PrepHole is reddlt retards come here thinking it's just like reddlt. It isn't and if you can't handle PrepHole you are most likely retarded.
>sci/ is Dunning Kruger central
Excellently worded
Why do Reddit retards come here at all? They are fat leftists allergic to all exercise and usually hate going outside.
The thing is, when I say
>PrepHole tards are coming flooding in here right now
It's not because they want to experience PrepHole. They aren't lurking before posting or learning.
They're coming here because they're being forced out, so their only intention is posting PrepHole somewhere else, not caring that this is PrepHole and not PrepHole
Oh, and
is the perfect example. It's not an PrepHole post, by an anon that usually hangs out on PrepHole. It's a PrepHole post, by a PrepHoleommando.
It is a good gun though. I got one too. My favorite handgun.
Since this seems to be the deals thread, does anyone know how often REI does additional 50% off clearance at their brick and mortar stores? I want to be there the first day of the sale but my local store is still pretty far away and they don't advertise local sales online.
>trash compactor bags
Work better in heavy rain, where pack covers end up failing. The trade off is where a pack cover might not fail (let’s say light rain), your pack ends up wet.
My aluminum cook set. I'm not going to make it, guys.
On the upside, by the time the dementia sets in, you'll be too old to really go PrepHole anyway.
Hopefully dead by then.
My wife has that exact same set from when she was a kid.
>buying anything on Scamazon.
No, thanks.
cheap, does the job, lightweight, not a larp
Picrel. Found it at a fucking Walmart. I can use it over a fire or put everything I need for gas inside it.
It's good for general use, but it's very limited.
Worth getting atleast one, and using for boiling water later on if replaced for cook use
Yeah, I mostly just use it for boiling; the most "cooking" I do in it is oatmeal or chili.
Also have one great little container to boil water for tea
I already have titanium cookware but everyone who has a Stanley cup seems to love it. If you need something cheap to get started with it seems like a real bargain.
I wish they sold these in our local hardware stores, but sadly over here stanley can only be found from dedicated camping equipment stores.
any $10 zippo lighter.
Incorrect. Zippos leak fuel stupidly. I got a generic gas station torch lighter and it sat in my kitchen for years, and would work every time. Zippo would require fueling again if not used within 2-3 days. The fact that they sell a portable fuel storage meme should hint that maybe it burns thru no pun faster than other lighters.
The one time I really needed a light and it didn't work. Never again.
Any rec for a cheap refuelable lighter? Having same problem with my zippo dunno if I'm just retarded or if they just suck
Get a butane zippo insert if you want to use a zippo in public that badly. They're not really designed to be used for longer than the day you fuel them. They've never been known for their reliability beyond wind resistance, but they just look so dang cool so of course every scary video game back in the day had to have one the main character simply picks up and it somehow works despite years of neglect.
cheap bic's are good for general use
zippos are good for long term use aka leave a refuel can(almost all of them rated for 50+ years) and spare wicks
just like a old oil/gas lamp, if you go back to that hidden cabin in the woods 20-30 years later, it hasn't been broken into and torched, you can simple pull out that zippo, refill it and it works, same for the oil/gas lamps
can't say the same for a cheap but decent flashlight/lithium battery
but most people that actual go outdoors don't have to worry about this since they keep buying the cheaper and more reliable options
get patch for INSIDE the mattress, then once it sets, put seal on outside of that hole; but if its breaking/leaking all over(they do wear out)
look for the most expensive ones in the store, then buy the third or fourth from there(thicker skin/material, the better
budget gear
>$122 shillocoulars
Any recommendations for a air mattress? The one I had recent popped and the ducktape isn't holding up anymore
I buy mostly everything online now from the following places.
Sierra Trading Ckub - clearance section
Backcountry.com usually many things running 10 to 25% off
Moosejaw.com same as BC with sales and clearances
Steepandcheap.com BC's clearance site
From hiking to camping to climbing I've gotten a lot of quality and name brand gear for quite a discount.
I bought the Kelty Drifter daypack with a water bladder at Target for $20 years ago. It's small but that thing is durable af, I've brought it through so much habitat that should have torn it to shreds and it still doesn't have any holes. And it's comfy and big enough for day hiking.
