It will be even better than last year's Victory Day parade, which iirc was held in Mariupol. No doubt the 2024 parade will be held in Berlin, the 2025 parade in Washington, and the 2026 parade on freshly-annexed Coruscant. And then? A new city will be built atop the ruins of the Pisky Hyperdimensional Fortress to serve as the Capital of the Multiverse: Putingrad (later renamed Monkeopolis)

How hard could that be? An 18-year-old German with less than 50 hours flight time did it in a rented Cessna thirty-five years ago. Factor in the Russian military's three decades of post-Soviet rot and it should be trivial to do it with a drone.

So let me get this straight: even the Russian Army agrees that they're powerless to thwart Ukranian attacks? Have I got that right? The vast national security apparatus, the FSB, Rosgvardia, all the way on down - they're all in agreement that they're completely ineffectual in securing the territory of Red Square itself? Sounds like they ought to capitulate ASAP and get the troops home to where they're clearly needed.
I'm certain the appearance of reactivated T-54s on the battlefield has no cause-and-effect relationship with the parade cancellatuon, either.

How many times has the victory Day parade been cancelled since the end of WW2?

      Anonymous

Many times and for years, but only for political reasons.
This is the first time it was cancelled out of fear.

With this Putin admitted that he can't protect the most important place in his nation even if he tried.
      To be fair:
An event involving this many people and weapons, a terrorist action is almost impossible to prevent.
Only takes one Russian soldier with roots in Ukraine to smuggle a bullet and fire it in the general direction of the podium Putin stands at to cause an enormous global media spectacle, even with bullet proof glass present.

I’m not gonna believe the cancelling of Moscow parade until I see a 100% surefire official statement for it. It is such a huge part of the vatBlack person civil religion that there’s no way that the regime would dare to do that as long as there is even a handful of tanks left: Russia is all about the appearance of power, and failing to do that seems like such a humiliation that Monke wouldn’t be able to swallow it.

      Anonymous

Yeah, until they announce it themselves I assume wishful thinking. Moscow has to have its parade or they're basically admitting defeat. Fricking Stalin had a parade for the anniversary of the October revolution in 1941 when the Germans were literally a days drive away from the city, the tanks paraded through the streets and then drove straight to the front. Putin will look like the biggest coward if he cancels this one.
