There is no historical precedent for the balance of power shifting towards multipolarity and the result not being a dramatic increase in conflict and strife.

Yeah no shit. Democracies exist to placate people under various ideological umbrellas without actually changing anything. If they actually tried to do what their constituents wanted beyond the superficial, they would dissolve.

Democracy is the free market of politics, it doesn't work all the time, but it's the least bad way we found to solve disputes over limited resources without excessive violence.

Democracy is about building consensus between different groups, which is the exact opposite of multipolarity (or as it's known in democratic politics, "partisanship/hyper partisanship")

So never, given they would utterly collapse their economies and hundreds of millions of them would promptly die to starvation and exposure due to them cutting themselves off from the global markets their nations depend upon for survival.

Look, just give up. The after the fall of the USSR (due to an internal collapse caused by various interests overthrowing the power structure in order to loot the hard-currency oil profits) the U.S. found itself in the position of being the sole superpower. Several years later, the Bush administration made a decision to display America’s overwhelming military power in the Middle East, effortlessly crushing one of the largest militaries in the world at the time while simultaneously showing off the unrivaled soft power required to build a coalition of virtually every wealthy / Western country on the planet. This started the modern era of U.S. world hegemony (technically called "realist hegemony" in foreign policy academy). The world defined by US hegemony continued to the current time, but that hegemony is clearly on the way out, and is nearly over in fact. Possibly it’s been realistically over since Biden’s failure to kick Russia out of Ukraine in 2022 putting the world on notice that things are changing. But, in reality, the U.S. has been exiting the hegemony role since the early 2010s in a gradual withdrawal. Why — I don’t know. Maybe world hegemony cost too much? Maybe the U.S. revolution in fracking in resulted in energy so cheap it made heh)my not worth it? Maybe bureaucracy grew too strong and leadership can’t control it enough to continue implementing a hegemonic policy? I don’t claim to know the answer to "why" but the fact is crystal clear that US hegemony is going away.

This is NOT to say someone else will take on the hegemony role; there’s many different forms of international systems / power relations and hegemony is just one of those.

      >Biden’s failure to kick Russia out of Ukraine in 2022
You mean 2022, when bare-bones american equipment support for their opponents resulted in the self-declared second army in the world finding itself get bogged down and then suffer hudnreds of thousands of casualties in an attempted invasion of a much smaller neighbouring country?

LMAO. The US barely did more than hand out some money and gear Congress found between the couch cushions, and that was enough to horrifically frick up their supposed greatest rival. And now absolute brainlets like you try to claim that that's somehow proof of US hegemony ending.

Say what you will about Obama, but he was right. The problem is that Putin couldn't stand losing face and countris aren't rational entities.

Realists are not realist at all.

        >in reality, the U.S. has been exiting the hegemony role since the early 2010s in a gradual withdrawal. Why — I don’t know
Because the US is truly a liberal country, it does not want to rule over the World as a tyrant.
