How do I get rid of these little buttholes, ideally without the herbicide nuclear option? I pull at least 20 of them from my backyard a day.

use a shovel to cut them off below ground
watch for them when they are small because as they grow they will be storing energy to regrow from the roots
after long enough the roots should stop growing back
Thank you amigos, I think I will just pull them up at the roots like I've been doing. And maybe just spread some seed in the empty spots. Pulling them every day seems to be tapering their numbers substantially but won't know for sure if I'm rid of them until next summer.
We call them sandspurs in FL. Fun fact: you can roast the spiky seeds over a flame and they're good to eat. Tried it once and it tastes kinda like pine nuts.
Burn the seeds to kill them.
>I pull at least 20 of them
keep pulling/replanting grass in their place. worked for me.
Do all of the above.
I grew up with them.
I know them a little bit because they’re an invasive exotic species here.
You’ll have to wait until next year to really get rid of them. For now you can torch them (the seeds die at 180f and they won’t cling when the tips are burnt) or use a lawnmower with bag. The plant dies at -14F but goes dormant in low 10s. If you heavily fertilise your soil before they emerge in spring they will be out competed by grasses and other plants. If your grass is dense and manages to outgrow them (and take their light) they’ll die off
high desert dweller here. what are options for weeds that dont involve lots of water usage aka choking them with other plants? my front yard is gravel over plastic sheet but the sheet is disintegrating and lots of wemhh8ueds came through during rains.
>wemhh8ueds
are deadly when they kmpiupv
Salt. accidently dumped water softener salt on the front lawn of a house. !0 years later nothing grew there
What do you guys call these stickers. They look like what we call sandburrs here, but i swear every region has a different name for them.
Goatheads.

>Goatheads.
We call the ones on the low to the ground vine looking plants Goatheads or woodtacks. The sandburrs are on a grass looking stem.
Ah, you’re right. Goatheads are the ones that puncture tires.
Worst par about them is they look like an ordinary grass when growing until they seed out and then it is too late to spray them so fire is your only real option... I'm actually working on refurbishing an old farmer built weed burner with a hydraulic boom right now because of these little frickers. Had to burn a patch earlier this fall on the edge of a field with a handheld weed burner torch and it brought the suck...

Sounds like blister and choking agent mixed.
I had those frickers as a kid all over my yard.
I drove my go kart doing donughts to kill all the grass. Somehow that shit got wrecked.
