The same is probably true about China, and their content tends to reflect that.
Hell, maybe they just fell victim to all the pre-war propaganda like almost everyone else. I did for a lot, mostly their air capability.

They conduct 100-300 sorties a day while Ukraine does 10 sure they lack high tech targeting pods, probably pilots aren't as well trained as their western colleges, suffered high casualties and they for some reason didn't went all desert storm in Ukraine(mostly because their doctrine and shit high command) but I would not call it abysmal

After playing RO2 and RS2 bf became shit for me.
Sortie numbers seem pretty meaningless when most of them are just launching stand off weapons at the border without ever entering Ukraine itself
With that said I think losing more than 10% of their Su-34 fleet is incredibly abysmal
