I've had to clean my own smoking equipment plenty of times and have picked up a trick or two along the way. Since there are over 20 marijuana dispensaries in my local area and the business is booming, I figured it would be an easy side gig to offer bong and pipe cleaning services. While I keep thinking it over I wanted to humbly ask the stoner engineers of PrepHole for their cleaning wisdom and advice.
What success have anons found with solvents?

I prefer alcohol but a friend swears by acetone. Each one has its merits.
Anyone try any of these other methods?

I've found a lot of success with cleaning interiors by swirling the piece with kosher salt and alcohol.

Any special considerations that you anons take with your equipment? I've learned to be pretty careful with solvents depending on what needs cleaning.
My biggest concern is breaking anything and having to cough up a bunch of dough to replace it. I figured carrying cases would be a must have. A work area with cushioning around would also help. Any advice to mitigate breakage?

Go to a soap maker hobby website and buy some caustic soda.
Melt it in a pot on the stove then pour it into the item, leave it for a few minutes then pour it out. Will be good as new.
With some luck you can make soap with the leftover soda you don't use.

Back when I was a dude weed bro, the best cleaner for pipes and bongs for me was acetone.

Just really wash the frick out of that show you aren't huffing acetone. Or if you're into solvents then do that.
Also bleach and ammonia work very well.

#1 best way is zep citrus degreaser. It's the stuff used to removed cooked on shit on commercial kitchen stoves, so basically burnt organic matter same as what you're doing. Soak your thing in it for a day or so and rinse with very hot water before / after. Rinse well after. Says on the box to be cautious using it on glass, but plenty of people who know their shit use it on weed glass without bad effects.

I use 91% alcohol and let it sit for a while. Flush it with hot water and you're good to go.
i dont smoke Black personweed but an ultrasonic bath with hot acetone would probably work really well. if you want to be a cheap israelite, you can distill the acetone and recycle it.
I'm not a druggy but piranha solution works well. Mix high grade hydrogen peroxide with concentrated sulfuric acid and you get a mix that can destroy most organic material (including your flesh).
I just use 99% isopropyl alcohol and rock salt(work as an abrasive), give it a good shake for ~30 seconds then let it sit for a bit and shake it again. Poor it all out and use distilled/filtered water to rinse it out.

What kind of containers work best for letting something soak in a solvent?
I be always use a bowl or large coffee cup. Whatever is big enough andcnn MM are of ceramic. I use a dynavap though so it fits. Don’t know about bigger items.
90% isopropyl booze and rock salt is the only cleaner you need.
you can also try boiling the piece in water to loosen things up, or pour boiling water over it in the sink and let the shit melt away.

the only thing you need to be careful with is temp shock on shit glass.
Muriatic acid
Isopropyl alcohol, 90%
Let it sit 100% submerged, overnight. Maybe even longer if there is a lot of build up. After that you can just pour it out and rinse it with hot water, it will be completely clean, or very close to it.
I used alcohol but I saw a guy use laundry detergent once a d it seemed to do a better job than anything I've seen so far.
Alright OP, I'll give you the answer.
Use this stuff, resin will cower at the sight of this beautiful liquid. It will melt right off very quickly, although depending on how caked your piece is, you may need a second or third rinse.
Feel free to use it inside and out, it will clean it beautifully and restore the shine to your piece as if it were new.
Also, it rinses easily, so as long as your piece isn't complicated in a way that traps the crystals, you won't have anything toxic linger inside.

I mix bleach an ammonia then do bong bubble rips
>Rinse out large chunks with room temp water.
>Place piece in warm water along with a bottle of 91 or 95% isopropyl alcohol.
>Once piece is warm, pour the isopropyl in and shake. Add salt if you have difficult bits, large chunks of rock salt with powder does wonders.
>Flush and rinse with water after last bits are gone.
Otherwise, just soak the damn thing in isopropyl for a few hours. But you will be amazed at how easy it is to clean a dirty rig, just by warming it up to 90 degrees.

I’ve thought about this before. I think the easiest way to turn this into a business is to use a dishwasher and a mix of hot water and rubbing alcohol fed via a pump into the washer. This should get it 90% of the way there depending on the glass type. The rest would be done by hand with a mix of rubbing alcohol, salt, and a zip lock bag. Shake until complete. Once completely cleaned throw it in a different dish washer with hot water. The name of the game is to return the glass in one piece or be prepared to purchase the customer a new one. You’ll need to remind the buyer that damage is inevitable and even though you’ll be careful there is a chance of breaking the glass. Handling the glass should be kept to an absolute minimum Hendersonville the dish washers. Side note: straps of some kind should be installed in the dish washer to keep the pieces in place.

The one time I used acetone on glass it left a smell so I never tried again. Alcohol and epsom salt was my go-to for years but commercial bong clearer is a little less work.
