Bruh, I had relatives working in soviet R&D centers literally cloning foreign shit with various degrees of success for decades. It rarely was a one-to-one copy, even when it was licensed and documentation was available (such as GAZ-A/GAZ-M1 or VAZ 2101), because surprise-surprise the local industry wasn't able to reproduce shit, so depending on the product tweaks had to be made. Sometimes it's not really an obvious copy, but it was a copy nonetheless.
Pretty much anything USSR did which worked a copy of something foreign, sometimes not even of production stuff, but copy of prototypes or shit done via stolen documentation and such.
Like literally read some sources in russian, both current and old, a lot of times this isn't even hidden. You can literally open up modern RU military enthusiast resources where they butthurtly discuss the T-14 and every one in a while people acknowledge the engine being a derivative of a german one from WW2. They have different bore dimensions and bore spacing which is a strong indication the blocks are not related at all. Of course they did. Russian engines suck ass an always have. But building shit engines doesn't mean they aren't incapable of coming up with a different shitty engine than the shitty engine they already use. Whatever anyone said in a 120 min video essay doesn't change the fact that the T-14 is a massive failure which hasn't been able to provide any strategic or tactical impact on the battlefield for Russia despite all the hype they've tried to create. I know this might be hard for tank autists who love to nitpick on the details but a tank just a tool for the military and if you can't use it because it is way too expensive/rare/complex to do the job that your normal tools (tanks) typically does, then it is a shitty tank.

It does add things. The engine/transmission combo is actually one of the major problems which fricked over the program in the early days when russians still had money for it and had access to imported shit without restrictions.
The engine is shit, because instead of developing something good from scratch it was basically cloned from an shit design. Black folk though they'd be clever and clone a foreign design, but didn't know they were cloning shit. Since this wasn't an actual long-term development program happening really from scratch, nobody found out and solved the issues early on, then the project it was initially "developed" for didn't go anywhere, so the "developed" shitty engine got sidelined, with the factory trying to find a buyer for that crap. Then when the T-14 program was made they've decided to finally use the old useless engine for the new tanks and designed themselves into a box around the specific engine, not thinking about potential issues and potentially needing an alternative.
They just want a hugbox where they can post like a liberal college professor while also being allowed to call anyone born East of the Oder a slavBlack person.
I only watched two of his videos because they were spammed on /k/: the armata one,and the stealth one. I enjoyed the armata one, but then I watched the stealth one and realised he doesn't understand how stealth works or what is a wave in physics, making me wonder about everything else I heard from him.

His videos detailing historical events are great because they're full of historical fact but at same the format allows him to tell those facts in an entertaining way. The issues crop up when he starts getting into any topic that involves speculation at which point he goes full on eccentric lunatic mode and starts making up his own pet theories on how people totally did things back then and how any other way is just stupid. It only gets worse when it also involves something he also has absolutely no practical experience in, like the whole spandau debacle where he just threw a bunch of dumb theories together based on shit he read in a book, IIRC forgottenweapons even made a comment that corrected a lot of the stuff he said. And when you think about how much he got wrong from such a recent time period you have to wonder, just how wrong is he when talking about how the romans or greeks did things?

It rarely was a one-to-one copy, even when it was licensed and documentation was available (such as GAZ-A/GAZ-M1 or VAZ 2101), because surprise-surprise the local industry wasn't able to reproduce shit, so depending on the product tweaks had to be made. Sometimes it's not really an obvious copy, but it was a copy nonetheless.

Like literally read some sources in russian, both current and old, a lot of times this isn't even hidden. You can literally open up modern RU military enthusiast resources where they butthurtly discuss the T-14 and every one in a while people acknowledge the engine being a derivative of a german one from WW2. But calling them the same is like calling a Ford 302 and a Small Block Chevy the same. They aren't. And that has nothing to do with whether its good or not. It probably does suck. Its immature with no operational history to speak of. That almost guarantees it has problems that need ironing out.

They have different bore dimensions and bore spacing which is a strong indication the blocks are not related at all. And if the blocks aren't related then you can really claim the engines are related in any meaningful way.

Also its not a whatabouts since that is literally what happened during the development of the AR-15. Stoner did the development work on the AR-10 and when Armalite/Stoner wanted to make it in .223 it was Sullivan who basically did all of the work scaling down the rifle Stoner had already made. This is a common thing that is done within the firearms industry. It does add things. The engine/transmission combo is actually one of the major problems which fricked over the program in the early days when russians still had money for it and had access to imported shit without restrictions.
The engine is shit, because instead of developing something good from scratch it was basically cloned from an shit design. Black folk though they'd be clever and clone a foreign design, but didn't know they were cloning shit. Since this wasn't an actual long-term development program happening really from scratch, nobody found out and solved the issues early on, then the project it was initially "developed" for didn't go anywhere, so the "developed" shitty engine got sidelined, with the factory trying to find a buyer for that crap. Then when the T-14 program was made they've decided to finally use the old useless engine for the new tanks and designed themselves into a box around the specific engine, not thinking about potential issues and potentially needing an alternative.
