Who are your favorite PrepHole Youtubers? Who would you recommend to beginners who want to go PrepHole?
Two of my favorite ones are Dan Becker and Darwin onthetrail, definitely the most informative and funny guys out there. Also looking for recommendations.
Miranda in the Wild, aka my future wife.
Beautiful head, pls come to Morocco
God i want to frick this woman.
Visible nipples almost every video
Great ass and God tier thighs
Cute braids and smile
Good sense of humor
Doesn't get hung up on doing everything right
What's not to love?
>Visible nipples almost every video
I watched like 4 vids I see nothing
She's a braphog. Stay away.
watched her most popular video and its moronic, goes ultralight then complains that her sleep was shit because no pillow and cold because quilt.
wind constantly blowing over tarp tent
trying to peg down in rocky ground
wearing shorts in warm weather and getting eaten alive by bugs
only walks 7 miles a day when its on trail and no navigating or rough terrain
you'd think it was her first time PrepHole not some experienced and wise hiker
you can't really expect serious hard content from a mildly attractive female on the internet, the ones that do things like that aren't filming it for internet points.
>every trip I’ve ever been on was totally flawless
Oh ok
You're projecting.
I don’t think you know what “projecting” means. Captcha: omoron
It's still projecting.
common youtube tropes met
-say you are expert without saying it legally
-get/have sponsored/sponsored items/food/etc
-purposefully do shit SLIGHTLY wrong and draw attention to it(engages the audience/heightened emotions draw/retain attention)
-example: "Oh, I know, I'll baton 3 logs while I have an axe/saw/sledge/etc in the background. Oh nooo! My knife busted! Ohhhh, buu huu."
-don't use tie-down rock bags to hold tarp down, use crap pegs(then use tie-down bags when off camera)
-complain about bugs because you can't afford the weight of bugscreen spray/tube/paste(while not having a sunburn because you brought sun screen spray/cream)
-forgetting how to count, pretending not to understand how to insert batteries, push buttons, do things and repeatedly telling their friend that they can do it better than them initially, then just saying to stop mansplaining/other woke/divorce lawyer/legalese suggested word points/ then purposefully do shit job of it to jar watchers emotions
>goes ultralight then complains that her sleep was shit because no pillow and cold because quilt.
>wind constantly blowing over tarp tent
>trying to peg down in rocky ground
>wearing shorts in warm weather and getting eaten alive by bugs
that's adorable, tfw no clumsy inept hiker gf
Not really, it's just awkward and cringey.
>load lifters completely horizontal
never heard of her, but I'm automatically assuming dumb look at my breasts channel.
Isn’t that just the design of the pack? I mean if the lifters were higher the shoulder straps wouldn’t fit correctly.
Proper lead lifters attach higher on the pack bag than hers. They should be up there near her lid at the vary least.
But most REI-grade packs have poorly designed lifters just like hers. They are more load stabilizers than lifters. Sometimes that is necessary because the pack frame is just not tall enough for lifters. Her looks like it is though, but manufacturers don't bother because people buying them don't know any better.
Gritty Bowmen #136 is a good listen to now the difference. https://www.mixcloud.com/grittybowmen-grittybowmen/episode-136-how-to-adjust-your-pack-for-train-to-hunt-running-with-100lb-pack-loads/
>But most REI-grade packs have poorly designed lifters just like hers.
You could just say you hate things because they’re popular instead of making up nonsense.
I don't hate those packs, I just don't use them.
If you just sort through the packs the big box stores like REI have, the vast majority of them don't have useful load lifters. That doesn't matter for the vast majority of people who buy them because they will never carry enough weight far enough to even notice.
You can pretend all gear is the same all you like, and that things like load lifters don't matter, but you think that because you don't do enough to notice. The less a person does the more gear "works" for them.
>If you just sort through the packs the big box stores like REI have, the vast majority of them don't have useful load lifters.
Verifiably false. Anyone can go to the TEI website and sort by bestselling. The only packs like this are the REI brands (the Traverse and the Flash).
>You can pretend all gear is the same all you like, and that things like load lifters don't matter, but you think that because you don't do enough to notice.
Putting words in my mouth then proclaiming me to be some kind of fake is pretty par for the course of someone who just makes up shot like “all packs at REI are bad.” Guaranteed that your fat.
Bullshit. You think the packs they sell have good lifters because you don't know what a good lifter is. Gregory packs? Shit lifters. Osprey? Shit lifters...even the few packs they put them up high enough they are on the bag not the frame. MH? Shit lifters. Arcteryx? Shit lifters.
They sell some Mystery Ranch that are done right. The Hyperlights I have looked at were fine too. But the vast majority of what is on the floor at any given REI is not made for hauling heavy loads, just like the packs at most every big box store.
I know you think you work a pack hard but you don't, otherwise you'd know better. Stuff a boned out quarter elk to your bag and climb down a mountain and tell me those horizontal lifters tied off to the bag are just as good ones done right.
Hahahahahhaa!
Ok guy.
Ok.
Facts trouble many.
I like that you proved my points, both that the REI tier packs have shit lifters and that you don't know enough to tell good from bad. That you did so unwittingly is icing on the cake.
Pic is SO on the matter. Not that you've done enough to be able to figure it out.
Don't the backpack straps interfere with his lederhosen suspenders?
different anon btw
god you /k/ larpers are so fricking braindead its unreal
NONE of you go outside i swear to god
at least you posted a v good backpack in your example pic but jesus christ you are dumb as a brick
yes thats a 3+lb external frame pack
almost every backpack at rei is internal frame they barely even sell external frames
load lifters don't need to go that high unless you're packing like 70+lbs
if you're packing 70+lbs you're not wearing an internal frame backpack
some rei packs have bad lifters but those are mostly daypacks where the best use for lifters is cutting them off with scissors honestly because they're pretty much useless to begin with on those kinds of packs
ZERO experience PrepHole every time with you larpgays.
Yeah different anon I'm sure. Not the same moron BTFO a couple of posts ago.
SO has used the same pic for years and it was from back when they made tube frame packs. They make frame sheet packs now, yet the pic still applies because the physics behind it is immutable.
You boobs don't carry shit, so you wouldn't know the physics from a can of paint.
Thanks for proving my point again that carrying heavy loads comfortably and safely requires proper lifters. Anxious to read of all the downsides of having them even if you don't carry heavy, that your imagination has encountered over the years you've spent reading about packs online and looking at photos and the like and browsing the racks at REI while thinking about how that gear would work in the outdoors.
>Yeah different anon I'm sure.
There's no way two people could disagree with me!!
I just don't think enough people are walking into an REI wanting a pack to lift 75-250lbs in the first place for it to really matter. SO's own instructions say you don't need lifters to go that high below 75lbs. And going higher than needed = fricks your center of gravity up so there's not really any reason to.
SO's packs are excellent but they're also like 30% heavier than your average REI pack and twice the cost, and in the same price range you can get comparable packs with functional lifters from brands carried at REI especially Osprey (dunno if those specific models of packs are sold there though)
Niche for that is probably like hunting and long mountaineering trips which most people going to REI aren't really doing and those box stores cater to the lowest common denominator.
>No, you aren't capable of understanding the picture because you have no first hand experience.
More exp. than the average age on this board.
>SO's packs are excellent but they're also like 30% heavier than your average REI pack and twice the cost
Haha what?
SO's Unaweep 4800 is a 4800 in3 pack that weighs 2 LB 12 OZ in their lightest fabric. They sell it for $489.
Osprey's "Antigravity" 64 is their top end pack. It is a 4100 in3 pack and weighs 5.5 LB. They sell it for $700.
No idea if REI carries it. I don't think so. It does have decent lifters, though no option for frame extensions like SO (to improve lifter function).
You boobs can't even read a spec sheet. No wonder why you buy your gear at Walmart. It is "just as good" though!
Oh wow, that’s so cool! Any pictures of your pack?
>for medium load, go even with the ear
Literally how ever “REI-style pack” is made.
The other guy is right; you /k/ larpers shouldn’t visit this board.
>wearing a derby hat
Opinion discarded
That is literally all you've got.
You posted a picture literally explaining why the load lifters in the packs you hate are shaped the way they are but continued to call them useless. How dumb are you?
No, you aren't capable of understanding the picture because you have no first hand experience.
As always, the less one does the more gear works for them. I'm sure whatever you can find at Walmart does all you'll ever ask of it, because you'll never ask much.
>No, you aren't capable of understanding the picture because you have no first hand experience.
>Bro, the load isn't lifted enough you need it higher
>Please don't laugh at my Derby hat I need it, it works for me
Gregory
Arcteryx
Hyperlite packs don’t have any lifters at all moron. You are correct Mystery Ranch might be the only decent pack maker sold in big box stores. Anyone who is not a larger and actually wants to understand how backpacks function look at McHale and Seek Outside.
>But most REI-grade packs have poorly designed lifters just like hers.
They're not badly designed. Stores just stock an excessive amount of short torso packs, and morons buy packs that don't fit because they're like $20 cheaper.
Accurate assessment. I surfed through some of her videos after the last thread about her. She burps and mentions pooping in every video, which is kind of weird. Yeah it's normal, but to bring it up in every video? I think she tries too hard to be "one of the guys" instead of just going outside and enjoying PrepHole.
Contrast with Homemade Wanderlust. Actual outdoor skills, intentionally touches snakes and spiders, makes videos about the trip instead of herself even though she's reasonably attractive.
>talks about pooping with a twinkle in her eye
Probably because she knows it’s somewhat inappropriate and funny.
Zoomers stayed inside playing video games all day as children, so most of them (you) don’t understand normal human emotions and social cues.
Gen Xer of German ancestry. I know a scat fetishist when I see one.
You think it's normal to talk about pooping constantly, anon?
Am I the I only one who has a thick arm/shoulder fetish?
She's meaty. Not usually my type but I'd frick her raw
Her portions are off though. She doesn't have a tummy and she seems thin but then she's got these fat flabby upper arms. Maybe it's active lifestyle + diet of fast food and other garbage?
Why would you wear your hat backwards if you're going on a long hike at a higher elevation?
Because it’s cute. Homosexuals don’t get it.
fail
Like I said, homosexuals don’t get it.
You must have a dog face yourself to be simping this hard

>Have hat
>Want hat available
>Don't want brim of hat blocking view right now
>Turn hat around
>Hat available
>Brim of hat not blocking view right now
It's a fashion statement. She's a "look at me" YouTuber.
It's a promo photo you dumb frick. Dont read too much into it.
Why would you take promo photos for going outside...?
Because generating an online presence is her job? How hard is this to understand? This is pretty standard practice for youtube.
So she's a look at me YouTuber?
As opposed to what? A don't watch me youtuber?
As opposed to just going outside and not doing it for the attention.
I know, I know, this response will make you seethe.
>not doing it for the attention.
Do you understand what YouTube is? It's literally about bringing attention to yourself.
Wait until you hear about actors
An incel posted these.
All me.
New vid is out today, bros. She talks about making her ass feel good and also burps.
Any idea why her face is so red and splotchy?
She has that sunburned/windburned face that all climbers and backpackers get. It's kind of ugly.
This
Needs to wear more moisturizer or sunscreen.
Maybe. Looks like a brapper.
Anons here describe her as burping in all her vids or talking about pooping all the time. She has some kind of digestion/gas issue for sure.
Perfect. That's my fetish.
You want a braphog gf?
You don't?
no that's gross
To each his own, Prince of Darkness.
maybe shes just a disgusting pig?
what does gas have to do with shitting?
Why are you illiterate.
Why does she burp in every video? Does she have digestion issues?
>that what’s called a genuine smile in America
Why does she look like a soijack meme in this?
It's youtube.
That's half the channels.
Open mouth traditionally showed excitement, ie, "jaw dropping".
Now there's about half the populace that's so simple that if they see someone having a jaw-dropping reaction (to their own bs), it's a practical requirement for it to be of interest.
A lot of people have, through decades of programming, become incapable of appreciating things on their own, and require stuff like laugh tracks and soiface to process emotions.
They require social validation for what they feel, or social prompting of some sort.
Their minds are tethered to the television at a deeply subconscious level.
They're the ones that the Walmart dancing pep meetings are for.
This is the hell you live in, anon.
that 12 year old boy has bigger breasts than she does
I... I think it's actually a girl
but at least if you tell them to gobble your wiener, Miranda is less likely to actually eat it?
any favorite outdoors ambience streams, frens?
Why do her nipples stick out in every video tbqh
Imagine the smell.
BACK OFF!!!
aw jeez she looks so thicc and jiggly and soft
fricking perfect
She looks like she smells suspiciously stinky.
God damn I want to be smothered by those thighs after a week in the Oregon Outback.
frick, was distracted
Why is she splotchy red and pasty white at the same time?
Why would you wear your hat like that if you know you're gonna get sunburned?
>osprey
She uses it to go outside more than you.
Being that's her job I would hope so. I won't ever buy osprey personally.
Damn you’re a moron.
>I don't like osprey
>well we'll you're moronic!!!
Kek you got btfo
>Osprey bad
Yeah but she’s using it more than you use whatever milsurp memeshit you’re using, so it can’t be that bad
>well that’s her job
Anon, I…
>I won't ever buy osprey personally.
When I was choosing a pack I've had everyone shill Osprey to me (not on this board) but I had this weird gut feeling... the company, the branding, etc. made it feel like the Apple of backpacks. Like someone who buys the new iPhone every year would buy an Osprey.
The difference there is that Osprey packs are comparable to everything else. It’s just marketing hype. The price and quality are the same as Deuter, Gregory, Granite Gear… You’re not paying any more (or less) or getting anything better (or worse) with Osprey. Both pro- and anti-Osprey opinions are usually trash because they’re just reactions to the marketing rather than the product.
GearSkeptic is a good informative channel
all the others are fricking vloggers or pr campaigns
Got excited by the name only to find his videos are just food and hydration, broken into multiple parts. What a disappointment.
Andrew ucles, uses some of deadliest snakes to catch rabbits. Runs down deer, feral pigs and water buffaloes barehanded. Lads a full on lunatic

Truly Australian behaviour by these two
I know someone in his family, basically he always loved nature and he used to do psycho shit like catching crabs in wollongong during a storm, he was kinda known for this, he also like to travel and learn about animals from abos and stuff. He wanted to be the next Steve Irwin but no one gave in the light of day so he just started a YouTube channel. He's a really cool guy and really nice irl. He knows heaps of shit about the bush too
goes without saying: Primitive Technology
Australia is full of people like this.
Funny how after he got popular Asian c**ts tried to copy him with fake shit.
Two dorra suckkie suckie
>Funny how after he got success Asian c**ts tried to copy him with fake shit.
History of the last half century tbh senpai.
Scotty's Gone Walkabouts for actually finding the few and far between interesting and beautiful places in Australia.
this seems like a cool channel but the video quality is so disappointing, I don't know if he has shit camera and processes it heavily to salvage the footage or if it's just incompetence, but it really takes away from the great scenery.
Now that apetor is dead I don't really watch PrepHole YouTubers. He was the king. It seems most of them are just there to pitch gear.
>ok guys you are definitely going to want to buy this ultralight camp pillow it really is the best camp pillow and you'll sleep great if you buy this camp pillow I threw away all my other camp pillows
>Now that apetor is dead I don't really watch PrepHole YouTubers
Same, the guy was a legend.
I've been trying to find something similar, just a guy going PrepHole without larping (survival or bushcrafting) or marketing, but the shitty algorithm makes it impossible to find. Any recommendations are much welcomed.
OutdoorGearReview is comfy like this sometimes
Used to be a lot better, but now he is trying to do too many clickbait things. Almost every new video of his is formulaic "COLEMAN MAKES WHAT?!?" or "YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS HELICON TEX TARP"
I like his older campouts and especially his goofy surplus reviews.
It's kind of sad seeing him age and get popular. Back when he started he was young and spry, no beard and kind of like a kid whizzing out over gear.
Thanks, will check it out.
Probably the only one since I'm new to the whole PrepHole thing, but since he hasn't been mentioned yet:
Shiey
I don’t know if he is an PrepHole YouTuber strictly speaking but some of his videos definitely count and his stuff is comfy.
He's bit of an annoying homosexual, I wish he would just shut up and not show his stupid dyke haircut.
I miss him..
Did he died?
yea he went camping in columbia and some narcos skinned him alive.
Sauce
don't cry because he's gone
smile because we knew him
And of course Allie
That's about it for me
Was this surveillance camera man?
Yes.
I miss that magnificent bastard. Hope is doing well.
True sigma male.
is he in jail or wtf happened
Nothing has happened. He just hasn't uploaded anything. Either he got tired of the videos he has been doing or he is making something new. He's not the person to announce anything or even answer questions on youtube.
the wooded beardsman
Steve Wallis, Vagrant Holiday, Ontario Overland (small channe that posts trips/tips), Forest Anon, Wooded Beardsman, Dangerous Dave (mountain biking), MoreThanBikes (roads, transportation, pedestrian stuff in-depth).
I like Popo Medic (EMS/police/heists, mini docs about stuff like Roof Koreans in LA) and MrBallen (True crime storytelling, a lot of outtdoor horrors/murder etc.) too.
Steve Wallis is absolutely top tier, goes on stealth camping while being absolutely schizo-tier paranoid
Forest anon is my favourite
the redpilled book worm forest vagrant...one of the few who ever won the fbi over
In which state is Forest Anon living? California? Winter seems to be mild
>no winter in California
>state that is famous for its ski resorts
You might be 'tarded.
Why is PrepHole full of salty passive aggressive losers? Touch some sun light. California is a big place
Why are you illiterate?
Why is PrepHole full of passive aggressive losers? And learn to read, there is a big differences between mild and no winter. Also California is a big state, 760 miles from North to South with different climates. Next time touch some sun light
California has extremes of every type of weather, with pretty severe winters.
>California is a big place
Exactly moron. It's not one big beach.
He said he lives in west mojave in the sierra foothills. so most likely kings canyon area since he does seasonal ranch work and wanders the desert.
if he does live out there he's never gonna be found once he dies. at least not in this lifetime. which makes sense why firefighters didnt make it all the way out to his shack. those canyons are pretty intimidating
>Two of my favorite ones are Dan Becker and Darwin onthetrail
Don't tell me you're not waiting for the next "5 gear items I should've gotten sooner" and "10 mistakes all backpackers make" videos by Dan Becker. I can't even contain myself right now.
Lmao, it's true. "5 gear items I should have bought sooner", "5 backpacking gear items I should NEVER have bought", and "Is the Thermarest NeoAir XTherm the WARMEST pad ever made?" is pretty much all he does but they are just so fricking addicting to me.
I understand that I only watch that shit because it feeds my consoomer tendencies, it's just virtual window shopping and that's all it is (I haven't bought anything based on a video by dan), but I just like watching that shit and can't get enough sometimes.
>I can't believe that Backcountry and REI and and Big Agnes and those frickers are dumping money and gear on him
I'd believe it. Osprey, big Agnes, REI, these are all decently sized companies, what's it to send one of the biggest hiking youtube channels a few items for free every year? The most expensive Big Agnes tents are about $1200, two a year would be like $2500, that's not exactly "dumping money". A couple thousand a year to have your products showcased on a channel that is quite often the first one that pops up when searching up "hiking gear" on youtube is a big win.

Very true. It's probably a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for an actual ad on his channel, and also probably more effective. I can't deny that my purchases are influenced by the gear my favourite youtubers use.

cigarette review
One of the best ones
This dude posts some vids but right now is on the PCT. He did the Appalachian before.
His podcast was great, with some legit guests. Not a huge fan of the youtube but its nice to watch his PCT. Like seeing Flossy
Aaron Linsdau. His content is somewhat repetitive, but good practical advice from experience.
https://www.youtube.com/ALinsdau
If you climb in any sense you gotta check out Ryan Tilley. So much great info
ultralight bad because youtuber shiller guy had kids and takes them backpacking now and is a super picky sleeper!! down with ultralight! reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
PrepHole hates ultralight. They also hate being outdoors. Pic is an PrepHole meetup. Inb4 “that’s a /k/ meetup.” Same thing since they got bored in 2020.
Its very unique, I've never seen it outside of PrepHole
IRL the only anti ultralight people I meet are oldschool boomers, and they don't actually care what other people do. They just do things the way they know how.
Never seem to run into these PrepHolek/ommando types in the woods.
>oldschool boomers, and they don't actually care what other people do
Opposite of my experience in that the boomers enjoy sharing their lore with anyone they see doing something they don't like.
I did a quick hike yesterday evening to some petroglyphs in Kanab UT and passed a boomer on his way down. He was wearing boots and I had on Altra Lone Peaks. As I passed he boomered
>lots of sand at the top you are going to twist your ankle in those running shoes!
you'd think with how much they larp about bushcraft and building things out in the woods with their 50lb packs on this board i'd run into one or two of them with all the time i've spend doing forestry service and volunteer trail maintanence over the last decade, eh?
Same. Ran a MeetUp group with over 120 members, was doing group trips constantly for a few years, then started doing trail maintenance and volunteer work. I’ve never seen any of these larperators in the woods.
based as frick.
larper lurkers: you guys actually would really enjoy trail maint. and forestry. don't sign up for a summer of forestry service unless you know what you're getting yourself into though do some trail maintenance first.
this probably varies a lot state to state, but its gotten me lots of perks like first dibs on permits, permits to areas i'd otherwise never be able to get one for, and first dibs on the most desired car camping spots in the summer.
not even flaming you guys should actually go do it lol.
QRD?
I'm semi-employed tradesanon, wouldn't mind doing some part-time forest work. Have MI nearby, probably has needs of maintenance.
As planned. You probably walked right by their camouflaged camps without noticing.
/k/ meetups usually happen somewhere that isn't going to be in some prescribed forest jannies shit beat. Most of the time /K/ people will be schitzing out and hiding. Where are most of PrepHole is on a 3 day hike and never far from civ as well. Occasionally the two combine and that's why you'll never see them because they get sick of either and go further in.
I did a bad thing and stole a forest jannies thermos once. I really like it. He didn't see me either. I feel a little bad about it but I will do it again if the next one presents itself.
A rare enjoyer. You got a good eye.
paul messner
I like this guy, great for homestead/bushcraft stuff. Bushradical

Love him.
Post big titty YouTuber outist so I can confirm
And yeah, watched a bunch of him in the background. Very no bullshit and seems like a good dude or at least not a dipshit
I heard it was this chick: https://www.youtube.com/c/amandaoutsidetv
not a bad pull considering his age
Catherine Gregory
There's a few more, I saw her in 2 or 3 videos with him around the time he was referring to his having a new girlfriend. He never connected the two, but I'm sure he was just being respectful as he's a good Mormon boy or whatever.
Dunno about Amanda.
This is the kind of dude that overtakes you on the trail when you already setting a competitive pace. You go back to your office during the work week, and everyone tells you how cool you are for the stuff you do on the weekends, but in your mind, you just think about this dude.
>setting a competitive pace
The frick? Why wouldn't I just be out enjoying nature at my own pace rather than some precessional bum pace?
Sounds like a lot of projection, anon. I don't give a frick who I pass or who passes me. Everyone has their own hike to hike.
Tell us more about how these dudes live in your mind rent free. How much time do you spend thinking of how thick, solid and tight they are? Do you regret not getting their digits?
If you don't go outside then why are you posting?
Yeah, he mogs everyone.
I would never be able to keep up with him in my best shape, and that's as a tradesman that'll be on his feet 40hr/wk doing manly shit like cursing drywallers and wrenching my pipe.
I generally set a relaxed pace anyway. 5mi/day is fully sufficient for me. I don't go out for exercise explicitly.
He just makes it look so effortless. He's almost never even breathing hard, just floats across the Rockies like they're nothing.
Maybe that hyperthin AT gear guy could match Joey's pace, but I doubt anyone else could if he wasn't holding himself back.
MyOwnFrontier is my hero. Dude goes into the Yellowstone back country and has the time of his life all by himself discovering huge stacks of brown bear shit or wolverine tracks. Absolutely based and what PrepHole should be.
I tried watching this guy, but he talks too much and says nothing interesting whatsoever. It's a shame, because he films the trails very well and actually shows a map of where he is walking, which is not what a lot of yt channels do for some reason.
>like 5 min introduction of him just talking
>packs up his camp, just spends 5 mins talking about "the day was uneventful" after showing 20 mins of him just walking around and talking all the time, why on earth do you need to reinforce what can already be seen
>more talk talk talk talk
>finally some nature scenery and no needless commentary
>zooms in to mountain
>"that's a mountain!"
>hikes up in sierras during those big fires
>clearly everything is smoky
>keeps repeating it ad nauseum
He talks way too much. I can appreciate it with guys like Vagrant Holiday who seems to be interesting and has character, but listening to some guy non stop talk about inane shit completely ruins it for me. It seems like the videos are about him when he's doing cool stuff, but he is boring as frick.
His pace also seemed slow as frick and too relaxed, but maybe it was the wrong video.
If anyone can recommend a similar channel, BUT without non-stop yammering I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking of doing something similar, in Alps, with short summaries and commentary, no footage of me, juts the trail, sketchy or interesting parts from gopro in POV, with map overview like him to explain the trail. If I spoke, I wouldn't "oh wow beautiful mountain" etc., it'd be to comment on things like having to cross a very exposed section of the trail and what to look out for. Surely there must be someone who does this. If I ever make these video, I will shill them here. What would one need? Gopro? Anything else?
POV only videos are really boring and low effort, don't do that.
While I'm here, I can recommend this.
Relaxing train hopping.
https://www.youtube.com/c/XanderBudnick
Kind of a based moron, very normoid, but somehow endearing.
Russian dude who trainhops across Russia and visits a lot of obscure places, mostly urbex.
Similar, but in Europe. Similar to Shiey, if Shiey wasn't a homosexual.
Local PrepHoleist, still waiting for this dude to upload more stuff, I like the format a lot, so if you're reading, enklave 7.62(?), make some more videos.
POV climbing videos, very comfy to watch and the guy doesn't talk too much.
I'm aware. I would prefer to film some scenic views, ideally with something that has wide lens, and only film interesting sections from POV. For example, I was on something similar recently, not my pic btw, but it was all rotten and partially washed, so I think it could make interesting content to go on closed off trials or sketchy shit. There's also a lot of vie ferrate that have stunning views, but are very daunting to climb. I'm doing St. Francisco of Assisi trail in about 2 weeks to walk for about a month straight, but I don't have the gear to film it sadly. Would mostly be camping out in bushes and stuff like that, but I feel like there isn't enough content like that online, most camping videos are really sterilized and boring, partially why Vagrant Holiday is fun is because he is doing things that aren't "right".
>Relaxing train hopping.
Hobo Shoestring https://www.youtube.com/c/TheHoboShoestring/videos
I think I've seen him recommended before. How do you rate the channel?
Why is Shiey a homo?
He's very obnoxious and has a dyke haircut. Just listen to him justify his stuff, it's like listening to a 12 year old spout some edgy shit. I'd have much more respect to him if he just straight up said that it is fun (which it is), rather than going off into 'we live in society' tangents. Guy was trying to be a rapper too at one point, not sure if that stuff is up even anymore. It's a case of a obnoxious tard doing fun things, sometimes it will happen, the same way you might meet someone interesting doing something utterly boring. I used to watch him a lot in very early days, think he first started uploading c. 2016, but I haven't watched him for years because him talking nonsense and looking like a bull dyke was irritating me.
Fair. He still tries to rap which is awful. I too hate his society rants, but I still watch him just for the locations and dangerous climbs/trainhopping even though sometimes it gets boring because of the personality.

>Russian dude who trainhops across Russia and visits a lot of obscure places, mostly urbex.
>Similar, but in Europe. Similar to Shiey, if Shiey wasn't a homosexual.
these people do something similar (in fact GIFGAS has done videos with Shiey), but neither strikes me as annoying
This guy makes me believe that I can buy 5 acres in western maine and spend half my year there. His well drilling video was absolutely fantastic
kraig adams is kinda onions but he takes good footage
what do you mean by onions?
but I second this rec, his vids are beautiful
I wish he doesn't show his ugly face eating energy bar between every two shots, otherwise he can show us absolutely breathtaking scenery.
>no Varg
cucked board
Crime Pay but Botany Doesn't is good if you are into knowing what vegetation is what. He also goes a lot of good places especially now that he lives in Texas.
Field Days is such a chad
>They are more load stabilizers than lifters
the sad part is you even know what i'm telling you, you're just dense as frick
on internal frame packs like the shit at rei they're basically just meant to give some torso height adjustment and stabilize a bit
you're not carrying like 120lbs in a rei internal frame pack they're not meant for that
they also weigh like 1/3rd as much as said external frame packs with functional load lifters
that backpack you posted is 30% of my base weight for a 4 nighter outside of winter lol
>different gear different trips
why is PrepHole too dumb to get this
Forestanon
https://youtube.com/c/ForestAnon
>warms frozen lizard
>shoos rattlesnakes off the road away from cars
Yeah, I'm thinking based
Dangerously based and easily the best channel on youtube.
>feeds mice and protects them from the snakes even though they chew up his clothing and books.
>Still has the insight to realise what he is doing goes against nature.
That's a big reason why forestanon is my favorite aside from all the different extremes he's braved out there. Vowing to never monetize his channel or accept money donations won me over too
I thought mutts love shitty tipping culture
>Vowing to never monetize his channel
His channel that gets a few hundred views and is only known on two PrepHole boards? Lol.
he gets a few thousand views a video and everyone offers him money but he always refuses it
Oh, I'm sorry. Let me laugh harder.
He's the first homeless man who literally rejects peoples handouts. Personally I respect that.
Fricking chad
Guy is literally one in a million just for not selling out to sponsors etc but I think theres much more to it than that. I think he's on that mountain to fulfill his own purpose and live a life that has personal meaning. Living in a way that forces you to grow and widen your perspective on life itself. Theres a quote in the bible: 'for those who endure the reward will be great' or something like that.
So refusing donations is keeping himself on course and the videos are his gift to the world. Giving is receiving and all that.
Good take on ForestAnon. In a world of clickbait e-begging and product shilling it's impossible to find a channel with no ads, so the fact one of the few you'll find is from a penniless hobo in the woods is peak irony. Makes you realize he really stands for his ideals to an extreme level
trying way too hard, work on your bait
>Vowing to never monetize his channel or accept money donations won me over too
that's why i like vagrant holiday, and he has like 4 million views
First time I've ever seen someone intentionally rub poison oak on their face.
Subbed.
The comfiest
Does anyone know what part of the country this guy lives in? Does he own the land his can is on or does the owner let him live there?
He squats on federal property
lives in the west. and its national forest he's only said it a million times
>Does anyone know what part of the country this guy lives in?
The FBI does.
And if you watch all the videos and pay attention, you get an overall idea of where he lives (I did and I ain't even a burger)
God bless him
Dan Becker is a massive shill homosexual. I can't imagine the life decisions you've made to get to the point of watching him. I literally despise everything he stands for.
Yeah, well you know, that's just like your opinion, man. Dan is the funniest and most knowledgable PrepHoletuber.
It was funny when he hiked somewhere with actual elevation gain and was out of breathe the whole video
The thing I don't get about that guy is where he gets the absolute load of gear he has. He has an entire room in his house with a wall full of packs and totes will of backpacking crap and multiple down quilts and blah blah blah.
Does he just buy all this stuff out of pocket in hopes of boosting his channel? He has like 200k subscribers and gets 100ish K views...I can't believe that Backcountry and REI and and Big Agnes and those frickers are dumping money and gear on him. Are they?
If so....I guess I don't blame him for being an unabashed shill and blathering on about gear in every video.
not the one you replied to, but you just gotta see dan as a geargay
it's nice to see different products being shilled and if you think it's cool you can get it
I like bushradical. Dave seems like a fine chap
I also like shiey.
I hope he does something in America one day
>first hand experience
I actually did have a woman die in a group I was in years ago because her center of gravity was too high, she tripped while going uphill on a manicured trail and smashed her head on a rock.
Was a boomer though, so probably not in the best shape.
Ages ago but maybe I can find a news story or something, I don't even remember her name I was with a family and I didn't know their friends they brought.
overly worn out boots were also definitely largely responsible for that though, disclaimer.
>Here's why danny thinlimb stopped ultralight backpacking on youtube
>There wasn't any money in it.
Justin Barbour is my favorite underrated youtuber, does great expeditions, has a cool dog, his narration is maybe a bit navel-gazey but I like it a lot. Just gotta get over his missing tooth. Second favorite would be Beau Miles, he's somewhere between PrepHole and PrepHole but an absolute legend.
Another favorite would be Foresty Forest, despite his unassuming demeanor he does some insane hikes/summits. Plus comfy van life in an actual practical vehicle.
Then Steve Wallis for the meme shelters and stealth camping. If he counts as an PrepHole youtuber, Shiey as well.
After that Joe Robinet, he hasn't been as good since Scout died but his canoe trips are pretty good. Also Destination Adventure, he's got an annoying personality but he travels to some really cool abandoned/hidden spots.
A few others that sometimes have cool videos are Fandabi Dozi, Geowizard, and Ghost Town Living.
Joe Robinet was on alone right? That name sounds familiar.
yeah, I didn't watch his season but I think he did pretty poorly, dunno why he'd go since he's got some bowel problem like IBS or something similar.
I have plenty, the ones that come to my mind right now and that I didn't see in the thread yet are:
Dave Canterbury
Coalcracker Bushcraft
Far North Bushcraft And Survival
Grunt Proof (a bit tacticool, but still solid)
Reallybigmonkey1 (my favourite out of these)
I still like Forest Anon best tough
Outdoor Gear Review and his ugly wife.
I don't think she's that bad. The dude is like 5'5" or something, so he did well. Their kids look exactly like him, too.
I want to deep dong his wife ngl
I'm driving out to Wisconsin on Friday - Dan Becker country.
What am I in for?
yeah, shiey is ok, but why has noone mentioned GIFGAS. he has some travels with shiey but his filmography is more creative.
andrew skurka and gearskeptic are literally the only ones worth watching. dan becker viewers should be euthanized
>gearskeptic
Why does this guy keep coming up? His videos are pointlessly long and basic.
they're incredibly well-researched. his food spreadsheet is the single most useful resource i've found when going out
He hasn't uploaded in 3 years and not all of his videos are equally good, but I used to like AlfieAesthetics. His aesthetics series was comfy to watch and his stuff about edible plants, fireholes and navigation was nice.
https://www.youtube.com/c/AlfieAesthetics/videos
Outdoor Gear Review is great. His reviews have been very trustworthy for me so far and I like the fact that he does not do any sponsored videos. I really enjoy his hiking videos and I like the kind of Les Stroud / Survivorman influenced photography he uses, leaving his camera on a trek pole so wee can actually see him walking (speaking of, Les Stroud's Survivorman, both the show and Youtube channel are excellent and you should watch them).
I also really enjoy Townsends. Even though I don't do historical frontier camping, I love learning about all the old ways that people got by with in the 18th century, and in many ways I feel like what I'm doing is kind of a modernized extension of frontier camping, just with lighter and/or more durable and effective gear.
Check out Fandabi Dozi, he's got a lot of content about historical scottish highlander PrepHole stuff. A bit more low budget/diy than townsends, but he's pretty good.
Noice, thanks fren.
TOGR would obsolete every other geargay channel if he reviewed more than mostly civilian traditional backpacking gear. If he did more milsurp and ultralight there wouldn't be a reason for any gearBlack folk to exist.
The only gearBlack person reviewers who's opinions worth listening to are people who actually used the thing they were reviewing for a few months before making a video. There's a few other people who do that but the rate TOGR reviews gear he's actually field tested extensively is impressive.
>YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT COLEMANS IS SELLING NOW
He used to be good. Sometimes. Most of his videos are way too long. Just look at his "review" of the USMC tarp or woobie. Said the same shit over and over again.
I dunno, maybe his videos could use a bit more information for their length but when I put on Youtube videos it's usually because I want to hear a familiar voice talk. He's at least interesting to listen to and I don't get bored, even if he is kind of being constrained to keep the videos long enough to be algorithm friendly.
About 10 years ago the algorithm-friendly length for videos was about 3 minutes and 50 seconds, or about the length of a song. Today it's 15 minutes, and that has radically altered the way Youtube content is made.
That's very fair. I'm being too harsh. Still subscribed to the guy and usually watch his stuff that's surplus or gear oriented, assuming it's not just him reading off a stats sheet and shaking his head.
channels like that aren't meant to be chain watched. he fills the niche of being the only guy who seems to do non-sponsored reviews and the only guy who occasionally says something bad about anything.
i agree he's mediocre compared to 'youtube product reviews' as a whole genre.
better than any large we get for outdoor gear though. all the other channels only do sponsored videos that are essentially paid (via free gear) advertisements. the only other channels that ever consistently say anything bad about a product are those little 5-10k subs boomer channels.
mediocre in a vacuum, best we got in the real world.
Townsend is incredibly soft. Everything he posts is a white washed over produced video where nothing interesting or exciting happens. Everything just works. Sometimes him and his guests laugh about how much people would have struggled. Just the worst kind of cosplay.
Show me how to collect scalps. Show me how to auction off an unwanted family member. Show us the physical effects of scurvy.
His entire channel is by larper for larper. And it shows.
>Everything he posts is a white washed over produced video where nothing interesting or exciting happens.
You should watch his stewed crab video.
5 entire minutes (including a guest) so they can do a Seinfeld bit that never lands which amounts to "Isn't it funny how lobster used to be for the poors"
I would love to see his stats. What audience is this dead inside but still living? What demographic values 10 minutes of their life so little? Has this channel ever been named in a suicide note?
lol
His live episodes are nice little history lessons.
Not every video I watch has to be hardcore.
Learn to relax, you clearly need to.
>how to collect scalps
kill someone and cut around the hairline
>how to auction off unwanted family
"who's willing to pay more for my moronic cousins to chop firewood?"
>the physical effects of scurvy
pic related
are you complaining just to be an edge lord or do you actually have something to say
He's not going to give you a 17th century turbo gawk gawk for simping this hard for him.
Compare it to Tony Robinson's Worst Jobs in History. Same content: an old larper cosplaying daily life in history. Except it's actually interesting. The presenter has charisma and the show isn't scrubbed of all entertainment value.
Point is that Townsend tries so hard and yet only puts out content a Mormon teacher would love.
>and Darwin onthetrail, definitely the most informative and funny guys out there
Black person you what?
mauzer warcrime for sure
>I QUIT
>I QUIT

I found this channel for lulz:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP7jph8ubcE1vxH0gPrnnPA
>his wife his gigambo fake boobs
>basically insufferable rich people touring the US in a bus
>hate dust
>hate dog poop on ground
>hate poor people with 5th wheel campers
>hate tree limbs touching their bus
>hate freeway noise
>their insanely expensive RV has all sorts of shit break on it all the time
Neu-PrepHole would love these people.
S tier MILF
actual goat
he's good, but I actually liked the no-roads city mission more than the straight line ones.
The no roads mission was my favorite series of videos he's done. I hope he does more urban exploration stuff
>ctrl +f Baird
>no results
Not surprising that out doesn't watch the best long form PrepHole content on youtube.
>oh god
>i'm
>i'm gonna siiiiiiiiimp
The greatest nickolas greenburg outdoors https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XbALngJQSdQ.
My self reliance.
No clickbait, no moronic thumbnails, no begging for subs, no adverisements, no stupid music. Just a man building, fishing, cayaking, hunting and coocking. And a cute dog.
NWfishingsecrets and Lost Lakes are my favorites. Backcountry camping and fishing mostly. I like trout fishing so I think that's how I found their channels.

>Underrated. But I ever do this shit I also make traps for trail homosexuals. All they can do is b***h to the nearest news.
Highly doubt, because I know you fail to get around the #1 trap in your life: the door leading to the outside world. Only larpers say this shit.
I really like Wranglerstar but he realized somewhere along the way that internet drama gets views. So he turned into a complaining boomer.
>I really like Wranglerstar
enklave7.62 and mauzerwarcrime
Forest Forest
New Forest Anon dropped and he has tamed a bear:
I hope he doesn't do anything stupid. By the end of the decade he's going to have become some kind of post-apocalypse druid.
I really hope he doesn't get mauled by a bear, but I trust our forest druid.
legend
Only ones I know is BlackScoutSurvival (I've only seen 2 videos of him where he talked about EDC and BOB) and Łukasz Łuczaj (polish youtuber talking about flora, things like what plant has what medical properties, what is edible, how to collect birch juice etc.)
Malcolm Douglas for pure soul
