My smoke detector went off next to the puppy crate because she forgot to turn on the stove fan, and it took 60 seconds to turn off but it was so loud the puppy started crying. 🙁
All "10 year rated" models are shit, I've had so many false positives with these units it's insane even after having them swapped out by the manufacturer
my apartment put these smoke detectors where the battery allegedly lasts for 10 years, which is bullshit had to replace the battery 4 months ago, and they were installed a few days after I moved in which was a year and a half ago.
I have a 9v wall wart, snipped the original plug and put a 9v Battery snap connection on it, also a 3f super capacitor ko keep it going after power loss and a pair diode/resistor to slowly charge but be able to discharge as needed.
I didn't really tuck the wire away, just double sided taped it to ceiling and wall and painted it white when i redid the ceiling.
One time a smoke detector had a low battery or something causing it to go off in the middle of the night. Since it was interconnected every smoke detector in the house went off at 3am. My brother ripped his off the ceiling because it was too much of a pain to take off the bracket and pushing the button wouldn't work. These things are bullshit.
>I say, my fellow African-Americans, is that the low battery alarm of my smoke detector? >I shall change it at once to protect myself and my family from the risk of a house fire destroying our property and endangering our lives!
Imagine buying a detector for something you can strongly smell just because a bunch of firemen got paid by multinational corporations to tell you that you needed one.
I bought a foreclosure, and about a year later all the smoke detectors started low battery beeping at like 2am. Bank's contractor must have put them all up at the same time. I ripped all the frickers down, took the batteries out and left them on the top of my fridge. absolutely raw dogging my way through fire safety now. livin free as god intended
>You do change your smoke detector batteries every year, right? >he doesn't have hardwired, interconnected, initiating devices
I change them when they chirp. Anymore often is wasting money.
Whenever one starts beeping I go insane trying to figure out which one is is then I just change all the batteries
Whenever I move into a place I immediately remove the smoke detector
Whenever I move out of a place I immediately remove the smoke detector
Whenever I move out of a smoke detector I immediately remove the place

nah
>Test your smoke detector once a week
Why even bother wasting the ink to write this down on the detector
Nah it's wired to the mains.
>fire starts at your main
do you just deal with the beeping or is there nowhere to put a battery?
It's easier to just not set my place on fire
Still usually have a battery inside as backup incase of a power outage.
>You do X, right?
Why is every single one of these threads unadulterated monkey shit?
Smoke detector? homie i live in commieblock, i have never seen a smoke detector in my life
The smoke detector is the babushka next door yelling blyaaat

I have lipo detectors, 10year replacement cycle for the whole unit
>How would your smoke detector sound if you had changed the battery?
>I don't understand, I didn't change the battery.

when it beeps i use an online submission form to make my property manager send someone to replace it for free the same day as they're obligated to do
the scene being depicted in this image has occurred a total of zero times in the history of the real world.

>If you're dead you can't lose money
Best advice on biz actually
