My smoke detector went off next to the puppy crate because she forgot to turn on the stove fan, and it took 60 seconds to turn off but it was so loud the puppy started crying. 🙁

All "10 year rated" models are shit, I've had so many false positives with these units it's insane even after having them swapped out by the manufacturer

my apartment put these smoke detectors where the battery allegedly lasts for 10 years, which is bullshit had to replace the battery 4 months ago, and they were installed a few days after I moved in which was a year and a half ago.

I have a 9v wall wart, snipped the original plug and put a 9v Battery snap connection on it, also a 3f super capacitor ko keep it going after power loss and a pair diode/resistor to slowly charge but be able to discharge as needed.

I didn't really tuck the wire away, just double sided taped it to ceiling and wall and painted it white when i redid the ceiling.

One time a smoke detector had a low battery or something causing it to go off in the middle of the night. Since it was interconnected every smoke detector in the house went off at 3am. My brother ripped his off the ceiling because it was too much of a pain to take off the bracket and pushing the button wouldn't work. These things are bullshit.

Imagine buying a detector for something you can strongly smell just because a bunch of firemen got paid by multinational corporations to tell you that you needed one.

I bought a foreclosure, and about a year later all the smoke detectors started low battery beeping at like 2am. Bank's contractor must have put them all up at the same time. I ripped all the frickers down, took the batteries out and left them on the top of my fridge. absolutely raw dogging my way through fire safety now. livin free as god intended

    >You do change your smoke detector batteries every year, right?
    >he doesn't have hardwired, interconnected, initiating devices
I change them when they chirp. Anymore often is wasting money.
