Hello, I have a question: this is basswood that I use for carving, but I realized that there are various types of this wood. This basswood, especially, has these marks. Are they marbling? Are they called that? What kind of basswood is it?

Another pic
This is called basedwood and it's completely different from what they call "soiwood", "bakawood", "senpaiwood", etc.
what about cringewood
basedwood and cringewood are the same thing
These guys are right. Same tree, but Cringewood is plainsawn and Basedwood is quartersawn.
Cringewood is just basedwood from a different angle, baka.
Wood does not have marbling. Those are edges of growth rings.
Wow, thank you
Those markings are result of how the raw log was cut and are a characteristic associated with quartersawn lumber (pic related).
The most common term used to describe that kind of figuring is "rays" (common in quartersawn oak) or "flecks".
More about what causes it-

It's quartersawn.
