Bang bang bang in the Bataclan

>still no footage from the action on the inside

Don't they wear bodycams or anything? I need to see what happened.

Bonus question: how do they chose who goes in first with the shield?

I would assume because he's carrying the shield. it's probably just easier to grab your other gun than to try and frick around and reload while holding that shield.

i am fairly certain that the shield guy doesnt shoot, thats what the others are there for

They all carry handguns and you can see plenty of them training with their shield and handguns.

Switching to your pistol is faster than reloading

Running guns akimbo is actually extremely popular in the operator community, as it effectively doubles your leathality.

The Ramsès shield nicknamed the sarcophagus is an austrian product and is extremely heavy.
It is moved on little wheels because it's way too heavy. The whole assault team formed a column behind it and pushed it down the corridor after the team had brought it atop a volley of stairs that led to said corridor. At the end of that corridor the two remaining terrorists were hiding behind eleven hostages they had strategically placed on both sides of the corridor.
Incredibly not a single hostage was hit, the BRI was simply advancing inside the corridor and grabbing hostages that instinctively laid down on the ground, bringing them behind the shield from below by pulling up the front wheel so they could keep going and push the two terrorists.
Some cool schematics and a little 3D animation in this Le Figaro article which is a bit inaccurate though:

Having a second sidearm has been something very common within french intervention teams for quite a long time. The GIGN did at first because of the low round capacity of the MR73.

      >Bonus question: how do they chose who goes in first with the shield?

      >squad leader goes to the next baquerie and buys a huge brown paper bag with like 8 baguettues(sp?) or however many guys are on your team
      >one of the baguetes is shorter than the others, but it's propped up inside the bag with a bunch of croissants so you dont notice when you see the bag
      >your squad gathers around, somebody counts down 3, 2, 1 gohonhon! and throws a wheel of cheese in the air
      >by the time the cheese touches the ground, everybody has to have grabbed a baaguette
      >guy who picks the shortes baguette is on shield duty
      >he also gets the two extra croissants AND the wheel of cheese to make up for it

might sound absurd but thats how they do it ova dere, i dont make the rules

This is 100% true but also a highly classified procedure so I wonder how you know about any of this anon.

Probably out of respect for the victims and their families

Not gonna post the pic, but the stage/pit with the literal hundreds of bodies was one of the ONLY moments that the public ever got to see of the attack.
So much for respecting the victims, that ship had sailed on the very night of the attack.

My understanding is that by the time police went in, the hostages were already dead and that most civilians dies in the concert hall and not the surrounding corridors where they eventually rolled in.

A photo or two of a bunch of corpses is very different to a 15 minute long video of a breach and clear with civilians likely bleeding out and shitting themselves. Are you an Arab or one of those weird teenagers with an obsession with gore?

We know what happened, I remember clearly when it was happening actually, we don't need to repeatedly revisit it. IS got the WW2 Germany treatment over this and they absolutely deserved it. We don't need to glorify what they did by repeatedly bringing it up and doing exposés of it.

The public deserves to see every but of footage when it cones to highly relevant operations like this.

They are French. Even if they did they would never release the footage.

reminder that the true victims of the attack were muslims who suffered greatly due to unwarranted prejudice
