Balaclava

Do these instantly melt and disfigure people when exposed to high heat as much as people say they do? I know the arcteryx one is "flame resist" or whatever but it's like $60

What are some good ones?

as much as any other non FR synthetic garment, just on your face.

Material dependant. Polyester and similar materials will melt. Cotton is the best cheap material as it will not melt, just burn. If flames/heat really are a concern then do as

They dont wear it as like criminals/anti terrosists do
They wear it only around their skull/neck but their faces is usually not covered

Yes, but if you want face coverage without fear of fire issue, it is still the material to use.

super thin polyester ones would probably do that. Get nomex and other fire proof and moronant material of sufficient thickness.
intumescent material that popcorns into fluffy insulator are the best but sadly I haven't seen much use of them in skin close fabrics. You can still stick dough on your skin tho.

No it's not, a lot of drag racers, super GT, Baja, Trophy trucks, and even tractor pullers wear that style. Especially the guys running methanol.

Im talking about F1, Rally and Lemans/GT
And i have literally never saw anyone wearing them like this in modern times (since 1990)
Tho i remember some mechanics guys in the pitstop would wear them like this in early 2000 but its rare

Those style of mask are actually really common amongst racing team with smaller budgets as well as team that run in classes with more limited appeal. Even some WRC drivers, outside of co-drivers, have worn them recently. Not everyone uses the open face, Nomex, hoods, though they definitely are the most popular.

those style of hoods are actually pretty popular with the Eastern European, Scandinavian, and even some South American drivers. Speaking of which, you just sparked up some memories of my dad taking me to see the '93 Swedish Rally.

You could always buy a balaclava made from wool.

Are you actually anywhere close to being in a situation of genuine concern for getting your face on fire, or is this consoomerisn? The fact that $60 is too rich for you tells me this is a LARP.

Buy what race car drivers wear, if you want genuine fire resistant gear. Otherwise, an Amazon Chinesium will make you look cool to your airsoft friends.

Polyester/microfiber is plastic made into thread. Yes it will melt sticky like plastic. Any other material is safe. Cotton, wool, hemp, bamboo, whatever the frick just not polyester or any other plastic based threading.

On a further note you'd be breathing in plastic particles, this is the case with polyester sheets too. They recommend not using polyester/microfiber for infant's sheets. When you wash it, the plastic particles get into the water supply when the washing water is flushed out. This is why we have such shit tons of microplastics in our water supplies. Stop fricking using polyester and microfiber, or whatever else they may call plastic derived threads. You're turning your own sons into trannies.

Plastic is bad but if you think that it plastic that turn people into troons its either that you are psycologially/mentally weak or that they were already having the troon mentality
