      ONE TANK

The T-34-85 is widely regarded as the best tank of WW2. In one incident, an entire company of Tiger 2's attempted to destroy a lone advancing T-34-85 only to have all their rounds bounced by the T-34's superior angled armor. Said T-34 dispatched all the Tiger 2's with a single shot to their frontal armor that was constructed of pig iron. Wartime records indicate that the T-34-85 had a K/D ratio of 50,000,000:1. The single lost vehicle due to the crew drinking too much in celebrating their 1000th Tiger kill, and then driving their tank into a 20-feet deep river of Aryan blood. Fear of the T-34 was so great, that Germans would immediately surrender upon sight of them. The prisoners were then forced to lie down, and promptly run over by T-34's to avenge the 6 million israelites. Many historians contend that the Allies only won WW2 because of the T-34-85, and by extension, the T-34 series as a whole.

tbh not sending some of their hardest fighting units with actual battle wear and tear shows how superficial Russia is and that it doesn't appreciate the hard work, dedication and patriotism that actually goes into holding that shit-hole together.

So they are doing a three-pronged parade symbolism:

1.) A single T-34 as synonym of their victory back then. A single tank not as a practical force, but to put an emphasis of it being a symbol of that time they defeated the Nazis and that they are doing it again today. Also "ein vatnik, ein mir, ein putin" etc.
2.) Likely to include captured HATO equipment, to humiliate their adversary and show they are big and bad and stronk.
3.) NOOOOOKS! Don't dare provoke the bear to lift its eyebrows.

I thought it was common knowledge that the removal of tanks from the parade was due to b***hing over "why are tanks in a parade when they’re needed at the front"? Why are you people pretending that they literally can’t run their usual T-14 parade vehicles nor any of their many thousands of remaining vehicles which are being refurbed from stockpiles full-time? They literally can’t pull a few of the nicer ones for the sake of a parade they do once a year? WTF is wrong with you guys’ heads?

They don’t because boomer optics "why are tanks being wasted in a parade while our guys are dying". That’s literally the reason why they stopped after the 2022 parade. It’s simpleton’s logic but it’s pretty obvious that’s what a Russian boomer mindset would be like.

Anon, the Armata is still in testing.Sending it on parade makes sense, everybody already knows it exists and it helps prepare logistics for when(if) it is deployed.

The only reasons to not do that are it being so unreliable it can't be expected to work even in the best conditions,or being so far ahead of everything they can send it demoralizes the troops.

Bitching doesn't fricking matter in Russia because its a fricking consolidated, mafia-state dictatorship you stupid frick. The RU federal government doesn't have to do nothing for nobody inside Russia. If they want to have a donkey show in as their parade, they can. So if they're not putting tanks and having these pathetic showings with T-34s and National Guard vehicles, its not because of someone complaining.

This fricking website. Since 2013 you have to explain, make a drawing and then explain the fricking drawing multiple times.

It’s the IMAGE they’re worried about you moron. The Armata showed up every year until 2023 and we KNOW they weren’t used in combat, just reportedly some testing. They literally can’t put one in a parade since last year?

The worst case is that as others have mentioned the regiment which has traditionally did these parades has been rebuilt from combat losses and aren’t ready to do parades so that part got cut.

Also, you know, there's this radical thing that can happen. That being that vehicles get transferred between units and get their numbers changed in the process. It is in fact extremely unlikely that this is the same tank, and it is extremely unlikely that that old 320 from Budapest (if it is still around) still bears that number at all.

Basically meaning it could easily be the very same tank. Your points doesn't discard that completely, only point to the idea that it may be another one

The top one is a T-55, the bottom one is a T-54

T-55s never had the fan intake seen infront of the HMG on the second tank, as that wouldnt work with its NBC system. The sights are also different, and the cupola.

That said, that T-55 on the top is probably produced just a year or two after the bottom tank was.

We've been over this, it could have been upgraded. We dont have hard proof of it being the same tank, but there's also nothing that disproves it.
              It's also more way funnier.

It would be funny, but the USSR tended to not upgrade T-54s to T-55 standard. While it was possible, it was rare, and they usually just pushed T-54s to WARPACT nations or third worlders (or sent them to storage) when they had newer tanks.

Good question since I remember they used to have multiple T-34 and Su-100 taking part in parades previously. Maybe the other T-34s are sent to smaller parades across the country?

I've heard from a few people that that Soviets used to loop tanks back around during large parades and quickly renumber them for another pass. Seems like BS though. The Soviet Army had thousands of tanks it could show off if it wished.
Modern Russia can't even try this type of farce because they can't spare anything to display.

      >I've heard from a few people that that Soviets used to loop tanks back around during large parades and quickly renumber them for another pass. Seems like BS though. The Soviet Army had thousands of tanks it could show off if it wished.
Its a case of chinese whispers, with the story being garbled by each reteling.
It was not tanks, it was bombers, and it happened in the 50s.
Russians faked parade flybys of their newest Myasishchev M4 heavy bombers during the 1955 .
Due to delays and problems with production they had just 10 of them avaiable . During parade flyby they circled around moscow and then flew over red square again. Needless to say there was no repainting of numbers involved

Western observers duly counted each of them , and from the cooked numbers displayed on parade they extrapolated that in next years russians will have a about 800 of them in operational service . And as americans like to do, they massively overreacted, building the gorillions of B-52s, many of them still flying, armada of air tankers to keep them in the air, and massive infrastructure boost to ward off the imaginary soviet menace.

An a way its kind of similar to MiG-25 and F-15 story.

The intel thing was one of the bigger issues of the cold war until the end and something I think normies just really don't appreciate. The iron curtain really was pretty impenetrable for a long time, obviously never completely but stuff was real garbled and this was long before the kind of spy sats available now. U-2 and SR-71 programs were a big fricking deal, far more then I can remember ever reported outside of specific military histories and retrospectives.
