>No laser on rifle
>Only AEMS on ADM 2.26" mount
>Other gays in class mocks and ask me why I don't have a laser
>Instructors gives a brief introduction and talks about setups like mine are becoming more prevelant
>No skills gets blown away by my passive aiming prowess
Why do people still even use lasers? It's 2022 c'mon guys.
you don't understand, i NEED to own the night and you simply cannot without a FULL POWER nighttime aiming device paired with DUAL TUBES so that me and my bros can GOOOON
You're gonna need a $1k bump for those tubes.
You can get an IR laser from Amazon for free. You have no excuse.
>be me
>go to night class
>have no NODS
>just bright as frick white light
>illum target
>everyone gets mad their $5k NODS are getting washed out by my $250 light
>attend a night shooting class
>No laser on rifle
>no NVG
>Other gays in class mocks and ask me why I don't have a laser or NVG
>shoot a flare
>they scream in pain from the light while i hit my targets
Devilish
>attend a night shooting class
>everyone has NODs and spooky lasers
>I use my bic lighter to ignite the nearby tree stand to provide illumination
>high speed low draggers all complain that their cars are getting totaled
>I wasn’t even in the class or own a gun
Plays Here Comes the Sun range master who is probably related to in the back.
Thats the /k/ i know
duct tape an MS12 flashlight under your barrel for best results
nods do fine around flashlights and even headlights though
I got permanent damage on my MX-11769 due to a bright LED light.
Really, I’ve looked at headlights, the moon, street lights etc with a Pinnacle tube and never had a lasting mark. One of my pinnacle tubes is currently the OP pic of /Nvg/ after looking at all that shit (amber filter is why it looks yellow). Maybe it burns the undimmed ones?
Unfilmed*
It's not supposed to damage unfilmed tubes but mine has a permanent spot damn near the middle of the tube because of barely even seeing a LED light bar. I bought one of the cleanest units available and it was a pretty lightly used tube at the time (all purchased from Steele so not dogshit) and now I just have to deal with it. Honestly that experience alone really demoralized me to owning night vision, but there's no way I could ever recoup the money spent so I have sunken costs now. People swear up and down there is no potential for damage if briefly shone most LED lights but my burn spot is really bad. Maybe it was some weird spectrum emission from the light bar, maybe people are lying about the capabilities of night vision, maybe it's both. But I honestly can't say I'm particularly happy with my purchase.
That sucks. Heard of this happening eventually when people use it in the mountains or other stormy areas, due to seeing a lightning bolt. Some people can fix it by running in total darkness for 24-48 hours and other times not
Thats genuinely cool.
Friend has a mawl. It's heavy, expensive and might have a battery drain issue.
>Paying for a night shooting class when you can just go innawoods bust some shit off then runaway
Why even run away?
Sounds like you need a suppressor
Thats pretty rad anon, I want to see your setup can you post it?
No
C’mon anon just post the totally real gun you totally seriously really own and totally really took to a night shooting class
No
Fed posts worst bait ever, asked to leave the NSA
I've always preferred passive aiming. I never understood how blasting a high power laser and illuminator around at night seemed like a good idea, especially since night vision has become so popular. Even digitalgays have a straight line pointing right back to your location.
so if you're going up against someone who also has NVG's, wouldn't the use of IR lasers become a liability?
Yes.
Hence why the military is moving away from them as more opposition has NODS
I like my perst-3 because at night competitions I can go zero optics and put a D50 in my .308 and shoot from the hip and still get a decent score
How else am I going to blind you?
Sneak up behind you and pull your pants down.
And everyone will laugh when they see your small weiner.
Because my eyes are bad and my hand is shaky.
What do you expect me to do? Perform witchcraft on my ammo to make them homing?
lasers are pure LARP, anything beyond a vampire light is moronic. you should only use illumination indoors, lest ye get tomahawk'd.
>nooooo not the heckin laser
>You'll get tested in the big Luigi
Cope. It's still dramatically faster at mouth breathing distances where your signature isn't as observable (if at all) to people outside the structure or even room. It's also great for marking targets/directing fire.
Thermals > NVG
Noted.
>attend night shooting class
>everything done in the class could have been achieved with a weapon light as opposed to a clunky NODS setup
>hosted in Wyoming where we had wide open spaces everywhere
>everything was done within 50m
I'm so fricking tired of the tactical gear industry, if you're going to host a class out here in God's Country at least use the wide open spaces available to you.
should probably ask the instructors what kind of course it is going to be exactly and their distances if whatever description they have is insufficient
It was supposed to be a longer range but they had a "venue change" last minute, but even then they had it labeled as training for longer distance passive aiming, shorter range active aiming, etc. Did not matter, long distance to these people was 50m evidently.
in that case, that's a load of shit and i'm sorry. what company was it?
TNVC lol, learned my lesson.
was it their night fighter 101 class? if so, yeah, it's a super basic class. i took it this year and didn't learn much from it. it really was 101 level.
It was, I learned more about bight vision in the fricking Coast Guard as a boatswain than I did with TNVC. Just felt like a massive grift that could have been duplicates with dry fire in a sufficiently large yard.
i think i would have learned more if they had just done the conga line for one entire night. it's meant for lowest common denominator (as in guy who has never used nvg before) and i was pretty disappointed, ngl. i really wanted more trigger time because i've got the walking around part down from just walking around the neighborhood at night
I suppose so, with the sheer number of people that are buying NODS now (granted its still miniscule compared to the larger gun owner and tac gear community), doesn't surprise me how many dregs with too much fricking money showed up just to learn how to operate the damn things. It was akin to taking a driver's ed course except it was a bunch of people who showed up with supercars. Kind of jarring.
Reading over this I look like a spastic ESL, I'm tired and should probably get some sleep.
i think my class there was 1 or 2 guys who were renting, everyone else owned. most people had dual tubes. i wish there was more public land available to do night shooting on near me because i would get more out of that. i'm going to try another class with a different company but we'll see how that goes.
To mark shit if you're with the boys.
Why would you pay money to go to a class where all you did was use nods and a laser? I fricking hated nights shoots because of the less mimis I got and how easy it was.
