Arguments for/against chest mounted first aid

I've seen some people mount first aid pieces/IFAKs just above their mag pouches on their chest. I'm conflicted about it though.
Pros?
>much more accessible than 4-5/7-8 o clock
>looks cool
>doesn't get in the way of chest rig if your pouches aren't already mounted to your PC
>doesn't feel like shit if you have a ruck/day pack on
Cons
>if your vest takes rounds, your life saving equipment is dangerously close to becoming swiss cheese
>could get in the way of mags
Thoughts?

Put it on belt or rib portion of vest/carrier

If you have an admin pouch on your chest, that's not a bad spot to stash some band aids or a boo boo kit, but I wouldn't mount a full IFAK there. If you don't want it on your belt or lower back, try to put it as far back on your cummerbund as you can while still being able to reach it without doffing your carrier. Alternatively, you could mount it on a dangler below your placard or mag pouches, so it's still forward, but out of the way.

Most soldiers don't get shot. They get blown up. IED, drone, artillery. So it doesn't matter where you put your fak.

high chest seems bad since IEDs push all that shit up into your face

That's a good argument for having a full trauma kit on each limb.

Not a bad place to put an extra tourny if you have em, provided they don't fall out, plus it can counterbalance the smokes/dip you have in the other one!

Very stupid. The ifak you put on your PC is not for you to use on others, its for others to use on your magled body.
If you're planning on being a medic then carry a pack, ifak only enough supplies for 1.5 people.

And forgot. Mount ifak on dominant hand cumberbund as far back as you can. Out of the way of shit you're gonna mount and should clear packs you put on.

Very common in Army guard/reserve with prior Marines. One of those things that's kinda against regs but nobody really cares.

IFAK should be mounted on your belt. Doesn't have to be on the rear, can be on the sides. If you're slumped over on your front or back, regardless, it will be easy for someone else to grab when they need to use it on you.

OP, proper IFAKs (that contain the minimum) are too bulky to be mounted on a chest rig, let alone above your magazines.
As mentioned, the medic will carry a pack with med supplies for multiple injuries, but they will always use the IFAK of the injured person. It's what it is there for.

At most, you could mount a reduced IFAK, or just an extra tourniquet, under your magazine pouches.

What? Also what if someone doesn't wear a belt?

                >too bulky for chest rig
A proper IFAK is rather bulky, but I guess it depends on if you have one instead of two chest seals, and one instead of two types of bandages, and I guess the bulkiness also varies based on the size/shape of the pouch.
                >what if someone doesn't wear a belt?

For me, it's pretty rare to see a soldier without a battle belt, but I guess ultimately it doesn't matter as it's personal preference. Do you want to be able to reach your own IFAK, or just someone else's?

I put mine on my battle belt, in the 8-9 o'clock position. It's vertical, so only takes up two molle columns, and is placed because I work from vehicles often. Soz, but I don't have a pic for now.

Getting a limb blown off or getting hit by fragmentation also requires medical attention

belt makes more sense. pull-out ifaks also make more sense.

You are major coping bro, nobody gonna wear a slick plate carrier with a bulky ifak on it but no placard or shingle lmfao, no they'd throw a chest rig over that awkwardly shaped shit and have more whit moving independently of itself. Thats some mental gymnastics. And you know no matter what its gonna frick with your reloads. Keep something there as thin as a juggernaut case and youd be fine but not a full ass ifak.

Putting it above the mags is pretty moronic.

You're probably more likely to get shot at the range as a civilian. But totally don't carry an ifak because it's LARP or whatever the frick you're trying to say, fricking moron.

Carry it on a 6 o-clock on your belt, cuz the day you get shot or injured, you possibly will be bleeding from the butthole too.

Pro: You will never use an IFAK in your lifetime, so you might as well fill the pouch with Skittles and keep it readily accessible on your chest.

      >You will never use an IFAK in your lifetime
And that's a good thing, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
We've had, what, 4 or 5 pretty notable shooting accidents happen to random people just shooting in recent memory? Ian comes to mind. If you're not packing first aid when shooting, you're a top tier moron.
