Oh def dont forget a waterproof stuff sack for your clothes esp if it has been raining. You can eat MRE cold. In fact, it would BEHOOVE you to break down your MRE prematurely into the essential meal items and store them in a single easy to access flap or pocket. Any cordura bag you'll want to put a dry sac inside if you're concerned about getting soaked. Even with DWR it'll soak through. I just got a few yards of polyurethane treated ATACS, going to play with that and make some stuff.
As far as packs, hpg stuff is pretty solid, I'd recommend something with an external frame and adjustments for back length if your carrying 25lb+ all day

It's the hardest part of gaining weight. People don't realize that it's much easier to go from fat to muscular, than skinny to muscular. You can't just build muscle, you have to build bone density, stronger ligaments, tendons, all of it. There's a reason buddy larps in a chest rig. He couldn't do a full day in a plate carrier, battle belt and other gear. His body doesn't have the structure, and he doesn't have the energy stores for it.
