Are there any fixed power scopes in production that fit the classic look of a hunting gun?

PU is small and tricky to mount though it's still in production. If I had to choose between PU and most simplistic modern 1-4x24 LPVO, I'd rather pick an LPVO

The S&B klassik line, I'm sure there may be others but it's the only one I'm aware of that looks somewhat traditional withba reputation for being reliable.

To add to this, Leupold still makes the FX line but they aren't known to be great, if you go for a Leopold get as old of a scope as you can. And of you're fine with a used optic, there's a meopta 6x42 on ebay right now. They're pretty decent but discontinued.

There are also Meopta and VOMZ. VOMZ is super affordable and dirt cheap here, but quality control is a mess and construction is also kinda obsolete.

Swfa makes some models. Maybe their fixed power scopes?

Easily the best choice under 1k for a fixed power, but it doesn't fit the aesthetic

This , too modern with those tall adjustment turrets.

Picrel is another VOMZ scope, this time 6x42. There's also a middle ground, that looks like smaller 6x, but has characteristics of 4x32

Meopta also has the meostar 8x56, I forgot about it and I think it may still be in production.

There's also MeoPro 6x42, and it is as ascetic as it can be - fixed power, no illumination, German 4 reticle.

Probably the most expensive version on par with S&B

I'd be interested to see how these perform. I've never heard of them before but a made in Germany fixed power seems promising. I probably wouldn't get one over the SWFA 6x but I want more well made scopes on the market.

    Another expensive option.
Also I've found that Zrak in Bosnia used to make similar scopes, however their last site update was in 2017. Are they still alive?

LOL Kaps. I have a 6x42 on order with them since 2021. I wonder how many they make, because now their CEO, Holger Kaps himself is occasionaly emailing me like: Dear anon, sorry no scope yet. Maybe in October? Best Holger
To be fair, they offered to return the payment but I guess I can wait couple more years

FRICK. Otherwise I'd recommend that if you could somehow mount it.

The one for AR carry handle?

        Anonymous

Yes. No clue how you'd mount it on anything else like OP wants. But I feel like a moron having not bought one a week earlier like I planned to since I have a carry handle upper now. I can only hope it isn't discontinued like a lot of their other retro line has been.

          >No clue how you'd mount it on anything else like OP wants
You don't. AR things are for ARs. It's about as tasteless as buying a civilian version of PSO-1 meant for Weaver mount, it may do the job but it's tasteless as frick.

I inherited a CZ model 21 in 7x64 Bren with a 4x Optikatechka scope. The ring is for adjusting zero, I haven't shot it yet so I don't know if it's zero'd or not. Also what kind of scope should I replace it with?

      Anonymous

      >4x Optikatechka scope
Looks like the design wasn't changing since ww2. I could have sworn I saw the same scopes from 1920s until 1970s-80s. I'm not that old, just reading books and stuff. Recall reading an illustrated Czech "hunting for beginners" book published in USSR, on the "hunting scopes" pages they had illustrations of same WWII era Zeiss stuff
      >Also what kind of scope should I replace it with?
Depends on what you want. If you're not sanctioned, you can always find antique scopes from Europe or US - Weaver K series, Swarovski Habicht, Hensoldt,Zeiss.
If you don't want to use antiques, but want to stick to fixed power classics, try one of the mentioned sights ITT.
Or just buy one of the big name scope companies like Kahles or Swarovski

I'm gonna be hunting with it, about 300 metres. The scope mount has this neat little gap that you can see the irons through so ideally I'd like a scope small enough to still have the gap visible but I still want at least 12x.
I guess I'm more asking for recommendations to match the style rather than practically the best scope.

Measure the tube diameter and objective diameter, and go from there.

I would leave it alone .....you're going to have a tough time fitting a modern scope to those claw mounts. The rings are normally silver-soldered to the (steel) scope tube

my LGS has a Nice little BL22 with 2.5x fixed power weaver on it. It's just the right amount of fudd to be comfy but I already have a T1x so I'm not sure I can justify taking up more space in my room with it.

But can we just acknowledge the drip? Out of all the 20th century guerrilla leaders and antagonists of western hegemony, he easily had the most sauce.

Anyways I don't know what scope that is.

Why is it that fixed power scopes are mostly a European thing anymore and fairly niche in the US? For the price of a good fixed power, most people just get an extremely low quality Chinese scope.

      >Why is it that fixed power scopes are mostly a European thing anymore and fairly niche in the US
Meme answer would be "European hunters are more into history and tradition, American hunters are more into practicism and military larp".

      Anonymous

Europeans in some areas are way more likely to shoot running game during driven hunts. Thus, fixed low magnification scopes are favored by some continental types.

American hunting, as well as Bri*ish hunting is often done in open agricultural fields or other open areas with long periods of observation and the possibility of longer shots.

even with that, it seems like 8x56s are pretty common, and I've heard they're amazing in low light. If S&B would put the p3 reticle in the Klassik 8x56 id finally have a reason to get around to selling my z5.

They have variable magnification Klassiks with p3.

I'm also interested in those, I just want to check out the 8x. If it never happens there's a good chance the 3-12 will find its way onto one of my rifles.

Why would you want a classic scope with a mil-dot or half-mil reticle.

                Anonymous

It's not really about trying to be classic, its that I find the fixed powers I have to have great FOV and eye box that make them really enjoyable to get behind. The mil reticle is just better from a general use standpoint.

Concept-wise, that's basically the same PU as the one made by NPZ, but even smaller.

Speaking of ZOMZ, there are still some of them for sale in some vintage stuff marketplaces.
