Who makes the best mil-spec AR lower currently? I'm looking for an AR lower that will last me the rest of my life, so price is not an issue.
It absolutely must be compatible with all mil-spec parts, no proprietary bullshit.

If it’s a non ambidextrous bolt release lower who cares? they’re all the same and the only difference lies only in the finish and logo, get a good LPK
This. There is no reason to spend more than $50 on a forged lower or upper receiver.
Is this totally true though?
I've heard real cheap lowers like Anderson's can run into problems with accepting some magazines and shit like that
Ive used Andersons. Wouldn't accept any mags but gen 3 pmags. I finally shortened the spring on the mag catch and that helped. But no more Andershit lowers for me
That would be a failure on a shitty parts kit and not the problem on the stripped lower would it not?
Yep. Half of the LPK are now pure Chineseium. Even Gaysslee is selling chink LPK.
I just assumed it was because the mag cut was milled out of spec and made it to tight to accept the mags without the reduction in spring tension. It was a cheap LPK
Yeah because Anderson LPKs suck dick
Only buy a cheap stripped lower and get a good LPK
Listen to
>Doesn't know about the best Ambi lower
What lower is that?
That's not the ADM UIC.
Is that a LaRue MBT-2S? Based.
SOLGW cucked out? That's very disappointing.
How is making a low shelf lower cucking out? That’s the better one to have
Low shelf is not a milspec M16 cut. Low shelf means you can't drill the third hole and install an M16 fire control group and 3 position selector.
Solgw is m26 cut. Hell their lowers have 3 firing positions on them
Having 3 firing positions engraved on a lower doesn't mean jackshit. As
posted, SOLGW is now making low shelf lower receivers. That 3rd position is nothing but a meme on that lower.
🙂
You're a man of culture. I put those triggers in all my builds too.
They can. Forged lowers are generally the same assuming they’re in spec. Spending a little bit extra can increase your chances of getting something in spec. All “brands” are capable of producing lemons. The cheaper you go, the higher the possibility of out of specness. Now there are different cuts. Some lowers come with m16 pocket cut, some partial, etc. do your research. It doesn’t really matter. I’ve used some centurion lowers which are m16 pocket, and I like them alright.
My Anderson is surprisingly really good at being in spec. I've run into zero issues with it that were the fault of the lower.
Orchid defense group makes a pretty good M16 cut lower. I got mine on sale for $80 and despite a tight magwell I love it nevertheless. The magwell has loosened up with use and now it inserts every mag I own and only sticks on a select few.
>falling for the ambi meme and paying $400 for a stripped lower
NGMI
Just an aero complete lower
Billet lowers are not considered mil-spec so you really need to understand the question you are asking.
Griffin Armament
any m16 cut lower. poorgay lowers are not. and most guccigay lowers are not either. i'm not telling you which ones because you don't deserve to know.
Centurion, DSA, Solgw (used to), and a handful of others. Begone with your iykyk homosexualry.
IYKYK
I ordered a pair of CM4 receivers . The company sounds pretty based, so I figured I'd give them a go. About Aero tier in terms of price.
When did solgw stop that?
ADM/LMT/LWRC/Radian ambidextrous lowers.
Only LMT makes a mil-spec lower in that list.
Its a normal mil spec lower. I am left handed and don't believe in the ambi meme which is for rightards anyways, as none of that shit benefits a left handed shooter. Not paying extra for dangly proprietary parts I don't need.
Anyways, its no different than any other lower I have. Not saying to go cheap out, but no reason to spend 180 bucks on a defender 2000 lower when you can get a completed lower assembly from some vendors for a decent price. Like
https://centurionarms.com/c4-5-56-billet-lower-receiver/
I know its not in stock, but you get the idea.
Yea everyone is recommending NON mil-spec lowers and completely ignoring the ops request. The only reason to go full LMT, which I would when I want the best, is the verified supply chain in the parts you receive. You are not getting some cheap knock off vendor parts or lower quality chineseum aluminum. Knowing that the entire process of manufacturing is verified from a company like LMT is worth it.
>LMT
>MILSPEC
LMT defender series are mil-spec are they not? They still sell flat top uppers.
No.
Ah I see, they call them standard patrol models now. The defender 2000, still mil-spec I presume, lower with their flat tops.
The Standard Patrol Models would be the mil-spec line.
No.
They may still. I seem to recall there being a rumor they had switched to low shelf, but I haven’t verified. Do your homework beforehand. Personally find their rollmark obnoxious compared to others.
Ok how are the Standard Patrol Models not mil-spec? I thought they used to actually supply.
My brudda I’m not going to taunt you anymore. Your obsession with “mil-spec” will not net you a quality rifle. “mil-spec” is essentially marketing unless you’re equating it with rifles made by those following, authorized, and in possession of the TDP. If you want a quality prebuilt, see DD, LMT, BCM, etc. if you want to build, choose a forged lower with whatever cut you’d prefer, larue mbt, vltor a5 tube (it is proprietary but it’s a goddam buffer), barrel of your choice (middy gas preferred for 14.5 and up to about 18”), and go from there. I want you to have the best quality rifle. Not some “mil-spec” cope build
I know mil-spec doesn't mean quality, I just thought LMT was regarded as a quality supplier of mil-spec parts which they are. Taunts are fine, you were bored and I was curious. The op asked for mil-spec is all and I thought they offered an old school "mil-spec" line which they do.

>low shelf
Called it and good to know going forwards. Thanks anon.
Yeah i mean sure, you can always get a parts kit and any random stripped lower too. I only have an LMT defender 2000 lower because in my state I can't receive a stripped lower from an FFL without a pistol permit, but I can buy entire rifles with military ID. I just wanted the MRP upper and it was less of a hassle to get the whole rifle. I probably wouldn't get it by itself if I was ordering in parts.
from a lefty perspective
>resting your finger on the mag release.
>having a useless bolt catch/release on the other side.
No idea how rightoids do it.
The selector switch stampings are more kino on the mars vs the defender, I'll give you that.
Sorry that you live in a cuck state anon. The mag release on the left side of the MARS lower is kind of annoying because all the metal surrounding it means you have to poke at it with your index finger. You can't just slap it like on a standard lower.
yeah, I mean if I had bought everything separately I would have only saved like 150 bucks or so. But yeah CT sucks.
As a lefty, I just draw a mag with my right hand, hold it at a 90 to press mag release with my thumb, and slide the new mag in as the old one falls off. Bolt catch/release is index finger on my left hand, which I believe the only reason the ambi shit happened, so right handed people could do the same. I truly believe its easier for a lefty to operate an AR-15 than it is for right handed people.
I know. Post your ambi lower 🙂
Yes they are top class but they are not mil-spec. The op was asking for mil-spec, which would be the defender lower.
Aero, because no roll pins and flared magwell
unironically M4E1 lowers are the best bang for the buck in the entire industry. Forged, good trigger guard, good magwell, a simple fricking tensioning screw that should be a no brainer on anything but you still don't get on $400 guccishit
Is it milspec? no. But imagine using milspec just cause it's milspec, aka the good-enough lowest-bidder shit the military uses lmao
It boggles my mind that nobody else uses the screws, seems like such a simple upgrade. And before anyone says "but what if you lose it and need to buy a special parts kit" you can buy machine screws that will fit for pennies at any hardware store, can't do the same with a roll pin
yeah but then you have the Scarlett A and everyone knows you're a redditor and a gross homosexual. Plus they're a vax-nutter company. I'd rather have anderson t bh. or just get a dsa. aero is bogus and ugly and run by gays.
Wait, do you really care about what others think of your guns and not just how they perform? Lmao
no i have "moronic homosexual" and a reddit logo etched on my lower. because i'm so cool and BASED. like you.
just get a PSA stealth lower if you don't want roll marks. Its all the same shit my dude.
anderson
Doesn't really matter beyond "not polymer for anything other than a range toy.".
Get one with all the bells and whistles you want, and as long as you aren't trying to spend like $8 on a lower you'll be fine.
The best lower is the lower that you can afford and is to spec as far as functionality and part interchangeability goes.
All lowers are made by maybe a half dozen or so machining companies and then rebranded, there are not really many lowers that are anything special. most are the same that have a fancy logo and maybe a cerakote.
Don't waste your money paying a premium but don't go and by a Anderson. PSA or better. Wilson Combat is good if you need me to give you a specific name that is good but not a premium gucci brand
+1 for Wilson lowers. just built mine with one. like em because they're local and they make badass handguns
>that guy at the range with a ludicrously expensive upper and $3000 of attachments with an Anderson lower
