AR-15 platform mods

Soup /k/

I just got my first AR-15. The only mod I purchased is a red dot sight which was quite simple to mount.

What are other mods can anons suggest to make shooting it more comfy? I was considering a muzzle brake but not sure if those are legal in my state.

Some time ago, I found a company that made AR-15s with a battle-rifle style grip/buttstock, where it has no pistol grip, and instead the backend is like an M1 Garand. I now have the money to buy one, but have forgotten the name, and google has not been helpful.

Hs anyone here seen what I'm talking about? Or know what it's called?

uses a custom bcg that goes into the butstock.

The best mod you can do is to actually zero that red dot.
Besides that, Magpul makes some great stocks and grips for ARs.
I put weird shit on my rifle, like brass bags and m-lok bayonet lugs, but you should really put a couple hundred rounds through it and then see what upgrades you want.

Guide to a functional basic ar in a few sentences

    > get ar
    > get optic (checked)
    > consider getting flip up iron sights, good for backup and you gotta learn basics aswell
    > sling
    > weapon light

Ar's don't need a muzzle break, they kick so little already that getting a tiny bit more controllability for a lot more noise and flash isn't worth it. A2 bird cage flasher is fine.
When you get more money and experience than you can try more bells and whistles

outside of a sling, dont get mods until you shoot it and think it needs something
mod it with stuff that you realize you need, otherwise you are increasing weight and size of your rifle for no good reason

      >dont get mods until you shoot it and think it needs something
gay advice, follow the meta. I "didn't think" that I needed a stubby VFG but I got one for shits and gigs and because everyone else had one and it's frickin gr8 using the thumg break (also meta) strat. Even picking it up to move around my house from corner to corner is much easier. I'd dare to say it's the best $18 i've ever spent on gun shit, a world of difference in ergonomics.

    >OP is a tard

You don't need mods; you need ammo and training. Mods don't make you a better shooter who's comfortable with their rifle; practice does. So instead of wasting money on accessories, get out on the range, and learn to shoot, and shoot well.

There's a thread for ar posting, but the same thing as any other rifle.

Sling because weapon retention is important, more magazines, mag pouches on your belt, and get a light eventually. Muzzle breaks aren't that useful since 5.56 is already a pretty light recoiling gun and they make it louder and more unpleasant to shoot. Just stick with the birdcage. What state do you live in, you should really know your state laws. Don't worry about getting anything else. Learn how your gun feels when shooting. Find out what you like and don't like. You don't have enough experience yet to make informed decisions on changing out parts. More than likely you'll end up spending a lot of money on things that won't help you or will make things worse. Go zero your sight and just shoot. When you have more trigger time, you'll have a better understanding of what to change if anything.
