anyone have experience building stylite pillars?
I've been considering dabbling in some asceticism and can think of no better way than sitting atop a pillar in my city (sandusky, ohio)
I've only briefly read about Stylites, so I'll need you to provide me with building plans, and also tell me how they didn't starve to death if they never came down from the tower.

to build a stone tower, yes, pic related, something like this, maybe a touch nicer looking.

stylites had people to bring them food anon. you'd need a useful idiot to bring food to you and not give a shit about all the piss and shit you would be leaving around the tower because there is no plumbing up there.
If he wants to be a monk he'll be going for simple food, so it shouldn't be too expensive to feed him. When he sells all his possessions and ascends the pillar he could leave a trust fund for someone to buy rice and beans.

I'd run a chute from the top into a cesspit. Then you just need someone to agree to empty it once a year or so.
