At least in the end you’d own an asset.

Same with my state, still didn't stop me. Use a friend or family member address, but have your stuff sent to a PO box.

you can just stay at a backpacker's hostel for a week and they sell Proof of Address/Residence for $5 at the counter.
After you have that you can just send your mail to a PO Box and live in a tent in the woods if you like.

I do field work in a converted van and after a couple of weeks it's pretty miserable. Having to slide on thongs and grab a shovel to go and take a shit at 3am then wash your hands with a 10 liter jug quickly loses the novelty factor. Washing yourself and dishes is a hassle. There's also the fact that unless you're way out (no laundry/amenities/signal) then someone is going to want money off you for the privilege of stopping there overnight, only gets harder if you have a bigger set up. Even with no hookups for guaranteed not being moved on by a poke-nosed cop you are exchanging money. I mean it's nice being in the middle of nowhere with all you need to get by and a somewhat comfy bed at night but I wouldn't want to do it long term.

he doesn't have to be way out, he can sleep in the Walmart parking lot like everyone else, or overnight at truck stops which have toilets and showers. just depends on how PrepHole he wants to be. also if near an interstate you can overnight at a rest area.

I was awakened by a creature and wanted to dump out before I went back to bed. That's the other thing, creatures or people can mess with you far easier than in a building.

Yes. It sucks. You will only manage for a few months at a time, and only in a mild climate. Finding a place to sleep fricking sucks. You will feel like an outlaw. Your health will take a nosedive.

Why don't people rise up and demand housing be nationalized and commercial real estate and foreign ownership of housing be restricted?
How bad is it going to get before people have enough of the greed of the professional landlord class?
    I don't get it.

You dont get it because you don't own property.

Because at some level you know you are part of the parasitic underclass and that acting out violently will give the normie majority the chance to cull you without guilt.

Actually I do own property, and I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I don't think anyone has a problem with Joe the Plumber renting his guest bedroom out to a college kid to help pay the mortgage. It's these billion dollar real estate firms who intentionally buy more houses than they need and letting them sit empty to drive down supply. It's foreign governments buying up real estate... why are they allowed to do this?

be the change you wanna see, anon. if you can't change the system, be that blessing for others. I've had a lot of cool landlords who wouldn't even freak out if I paid rent late. There is one who would check up on me and be like "you okay, bud? need some help?" God bless those people.

      >Why don't people rise up and demand housing
4 generations of Americans have been subjected to rabid capitalist propaganda since an early age. Any attempt to improve the plight of working people is instantly branded as unamerican and demonized.

I had a truck bed camper shell, elevated it on some lumber so I could sit up, put a cot in there with some memory foam, bought a bunch of plastic shelves from walmart to put my stuff in, ran a 100 dollar inverter through my cab so I could have some juice for my phone, laptop, modem, and I lived like that for a year in colorado. It was 50% because my work involved spiking out for up to 3 weeks at a time, and 50% because rent in colorado is fricking nuts. I was making $18+/hr and still qualified for food stamps. I just used 24hr gyms and bathhouses to shower. There's a place in salida that was a pool, you could rent a hot tub and drink beer or whatever, and you could shower. When my fire crew got off, and the girls from the all women trail crew got off at the same time, I'd always rent a hot tub because they were co-ed so it was a nice place for some ass if you didn't want to camp, rent a room, or have car sex. Car sex was also had.

forgot to add,, there are strangely a lot of local women working regular jobs who are perfectly fine with dudes living in their car for some reason. Idk if it's a colorado thing or what. Then in the off season you get the ski bums. Some of them had an emphasis on BUM ifyouknowwhatImean.

I sold my house but still had like four months left on a job, so I did this in a grand Cherokee. It was pretty cozy tbh, but at the end of the four months I was over it. Lucky for me work had showers and a kitchenette. I never told anyone I was living in the parking lot, but I'm sure someone noticed. A friend that lived with me previously had left behind a roll-and-go sleeping pad that was way too bulky to take backpacking, but worked great here. I also got some velcro and cut small squares out. One end end had adhesive so i stuck it to the corners of my windows, then affixed the matching square s to sunshades I cut to the size of said windows. Also consider how quickly a space that small starts to stank and get something to combat it.

yes and while is can be a bit cheaper the savings are not as dramatic as you'd think they'd be. Several reasons why

can't cook in bulk and use a fridge
heating and cooling is expensive, propane in the 5lb tanks are about 50x more than natural gas coming into your house.
have to spend time, money, gas on 24 hour fitness for showers. constant gas moving around
i found myself doing a lot more stuff to get out of the van. coffee here, see a movie, go to a bar it all adds up
taking a shit can be an hour event. get a chem toilet for emergencies
being sick is horrible. much worse than the flu at home.

few other concerns that aren't monetary
safety, better carry a gun and good insurance on your stuff
    having a permanent address
internet and phone access, i had a hotspot plan and other than remote places it was fine
    sleeping is hit and miss.

two bits of advice, first don't put yourself in a situation where you don't have any other options. at least not until you've done a season and will really commit. Last if you look, smell and act like a criminal hobo you're going to be treated like one. shower regularly and always be nice and it'll save you lots of troubles.
