If you take something your supposed to leave something. Most caches are tiny & don’t have shit besides a log but the shit inside it isn’t the point if you do it as a hobby. It’s all about the experience of the find.
When I go caching, I take items of varying value. Sometimes I leave behind cheap trinkets, othertimes 30$ crystals or something... depends on what was left in the cache before it.
Its alright i guess.
I mean usually its some manky lunch-box with a damp notepad and pen inside, but there is something exciting about finding it.
its just definitely better in theory than in practice.
Got nearly 3000 finds myself. Heavy into it. Shit gets like a sport when you do it in some ways. if you get into FTFing (being the first to find newly hidden caches) it’s gets hella competitive. There’s also an annual geocaching competition in my state that I’ve participated in twice. It’s fun shit & a great hobby.
it's a great thing to do on an early date with an outdoorsy chick, especially if they've never heard of it. it's like an adventure with treasure at the end and they love it
Geocachers commonly host events called CITOs where we go to nature areas & clean up shit tons of trash. So I’d say it’s actually one of the greener outdoor activities.
I used to until I de-googled my phone and the app doesn't work without google services. Haven't really researched an alternative way. Is there a better open source app?
Back in the day my parents would use a palm pilot and handheld GPS, so I imagine that's still possible.
What makes you excited?
You never know what you can find.
so like a garbage dump?
No like a dump from someones anis
>anis
You must be at least 18 to post here.
Pooping into the caches
Baste geopooper.
We used to make these threads all the time.
We even had patches
I remember like 3 years back an PrepHoleist said he used to put doggie doodoo inside if them
And I still do.
What have you found in them yet? And do you put something back in return? Who replenishes them?

>Items of value
>Crystals
Well... Which one is it?
Nothing I've ever found in a geocache has ever been "useful", just neat shit.
>just neat shit.
Like actual poop?
Its alright i guess.

I found a holographic pokemon card inside one once
Pokémon Go irl
That would actually be really cool if you were into card games.
I like feeding things into deers
I don’t do it, but I happened to find a cache a year ago while riding by this fallen stump and noticing a texture incongruity with the bark
So I put stink bugs in it
The larger ones can hold a full poop and a bladders worth of peep
i like to find them and take everything out and leave nothing
I'm not dissing on anyone or anything here but there is very obvious, very clear link between geocaching and autism

Have you ever found poop in one?
No poop, used tampon tho.

Did you lick it?

Did 2 in my city, already about 15 years ago together with a friend. It's fun!
Tiktok is ruining geocaching.
its a think on tictok?
TikTok ruins everything
It sorta died off for me
Poop in one and you will find new joy in an old hobby
>people hiding garbage in nature
please don't
Geocatching is not littering anon
its literally littering
its litteraling

So they remove some trash but add other trash
A net loss of trash in total tho
Why cant they just use non trash items to exchange like sex
Why can't you just kys
anon
Nta, but killing yourself is actually one of the most environmentally friendly things you can do, second only to ejaculating in geocaches.
>Commonly
Quit lying

I was actually just looking into using a handhelp GPS/coordinates + map or something myself.
why has no one ever provided a photo of a geocatch with a poop in it?
Because its usually bigfoots that done it and no one has a camera
GEOPOOP
