So, if it is leftist politics, then we wouldn't know the reason for the firings ...and we don't know, so that's what I think is going on.
If the reason is anything else, there'd be SOME news story. Even if the news story was mundane like, "his ship failed to meet readiness targets" - that's boring, but that'd be easy for the press to figure out and report.
