I think one of the more interesting things about vatniks is their inability to reflect and see how what they say and how they say it gives away that they are Russians. Not the positions they take, but their word choice, spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. I wonder if it’s an artefact of not actually hearing conversational English.

Russian grammar allows for a great deal of variability in sentence construction, compared to that of English (almost always subject-verb-object). You can arrange words essentially however you like, and they'll be valid, just with a slightly different meaning. "I like dogs" and "dogs like I" can both have the meaning of the English sentence "I like dogs", for example, just in different ways. So when Russians who are English fluent just enough to make this kind of post write, they end up either overcompensating with hyper-specific word choice and structure, or their grammar is a hot mess.

          >"I like dogs" and "dogs like I" can both have the meaning of the English sentence "I like dogs", for example, just in different ways

You can force your brain to understand it: "dogs" + "like I", so the emphasis is on *you* liking dogs, rather than dogs. And you're not saying exactly the same words, there are modifiers. Like tenses, but for meanings instead of time.

          >I like dogs

Are you saying that in Russian, putting a word at the end of a phrase is equivalent to saying it with stress in an English sentence? Or writing it with italics?

              Anonymous

Basically. Stress is on the end of the sentence in general. But you can arrange the words before the end of the sentence to create additional meaning as well. For example, the subject-object-verb sentence "I dogs like" has emphasis on the type of animal that you like, whereas the object-subject-verb sentence "dogs I like" has emphasis on the fact that you do like dogs.
(And I got it slightly wrong, you are using the same words, just... contextual. They're different depending on their position in the sentence).

English is actually a great language for recognizing non-native speakers, because it's essentially an amalgam of random bits of other languages. So everyone has trouble somewhere. Russian doesn't have articles, Chinese doesn't have tenses or emotional tonality, almost nobody other than the Welsh has "th-", not many languages have do-support either ("you have a gun?" (stress makes question) --> "do you have a gun?" (stress still exists despite question word)). Verb phrase ellipsis gets people too. "She will not go to the range, but he will".

I come from a romance language, to properly adapt to English, and even then, American, learning bongistani would be another thing all in itself, I have to completely shut down the part of my brain that thinks in my mother tongue. All English has to do is add a LL from Welsh too just to make it even more awkward kek

                Anonymous

I don't think it would be that hard for English speakers to adapt to ɬ, either. We have "sharp" and "law" and mashing them together is a bit awkward but totally doable, feels like vowel--> consonant. So I agree. We should make a new word to piss everyone off more. Make our own language complex enough that fewer adversaries can learn it. Eventually create High English and thus an unstoppable soft eugenics program.

It doesn't merely designate them as Russian, but as vatniks. It's a type of linguistic rot to which they get exposed and which they fully absorb. You can look at a pair of Russian posters and immediately spot the vatnik with 90% accuracy.

I think this is overthinking it a little bit.
Actually sounding like a native requires a much higher level of ability than simply writing sentences people can understand. The reason why vatnik shills sound obviously Russian isn't because of something specific. They're just generally not very good at English.
No doubt there are some vatnik shills out there who are good at English, but they're probably shilling on a much more important site than PrepHole.

Has anybody else realized that there is no "gray" or "crumple" zone? There's just a thin front composed of personnel and equipment and we're getting psyop'ed big time about these defensive positions behind them, which are just more mines, trenches and dragon dentures for the Russians to retreat behind?

      Anonymous

Their other positions do seem to be somewhat more defensible but that's not gonna matter much if, as already seems to be the case, forces aren't withdrawing properly (with some apparently abandoning the front entirely, e.g. TikTokers) and the "new" defensive lines aren't adequately reinforced in time. If the Ukies find a juicy direction and throw their reserves behind it it won't matter much if the R*ssians "real" defensive line has maybe some concrete bunkers instead of plywood-covered dugouts, they'd get fricked either way. It's kind of a game of who blinks first right now. If the R*ssians either deploy their mobile reserves in the wrong place (or not at all) then wherever the full assault happens will likely get rolled up no matter what. And after that it'll get a lot easier and we might see a Kharkiv repeat.

But as always, time will tell.

Perun on YT has provided hundreds of hours on how Ukraine is winning this war. The objective data collected CLEARLY shows huge russian loses to very little Ukr losses.

Despite receiving countless NATO supplies, there's very rarely any evidence of it being lost in combat despite RU's massive, coordinated propoganda push. Armor is meant to protect the crews inside - it's meant to be lost so soldiers are not. Support continues to flow from many allies while RU is geopolitcally isolated and economically crippled by sanctions. Deal with it Vatnik moron

Yes, a youtuber who has never worked for the russian MOD would have been by this point a far better advisor than all the yes-men and bandits Putin has surrounded himself with. We all know Perun would have "suffered an accident" for telling the truth and suggesting to stop corruption and vranyo, but if by some twist of fate Putin and his oligarchs would have listened by now Ukraine would be under russian control.

What are you seeing here is the direct result of some homosexuals who got so butthurt by the memes directed at them, they straight up stealing them verbatim in a monke see, monke do fashion without the context why it is hilarious in the first place. All they know are it's hurtful, so they trying to throw it back at us with greatly reduced effect because 1. stolen memes are never funny and 2. It just shows how greatly affected they are by a caricature of Putin photoshopped to look like an ape.

Yes. You have to understand. The ukie piggies have pushed through russian lines, but only where the russians have allowed them. They're too afraid of the Russian strongholds and are advancing past them. Soon the Russians will attack from these strongholds like knights from a castle.

It's one of the things they do that's easy to parody though. It's better when you put it in parentheses and have it autotranslated to like 3 different spellings with certain words in quotes
        For example
        >PMC "Wagner" has advanced 3 km in Bakhmut (Artemovsk) aided by artillery "smerch." Marking the return of Bakhmut (Artyomovsk) to the DPR, Dennis Pushilin has named Artemivsk (formerly Bakhmut) a hero city

The mines really truly are the only thing Russia has done right this entire war. It's the only way to stop Ukraine from just doing giant ass hundred mile thunder run campaigns. The humble land mine is a lot more capable than people seem to get. Your tank can have the best protection on the planet but if a track gets blown off it's not going anywhere soon and is now a stationary target or can be captured.

  65. 11 months ago

    >russian forces are still present in forward positions
Why the frick would Ukraine engage Russia on its own terms? The point of these attacks is to draw reserves to the front so that they can concentrate a large attack where the Russian reserve can’t reinforce.

No one is psyoping anyone. OSINT came out prior to the counter-offensive showing deep layered dense lines. The "gray zone" is the first layer, that’s all. Pro-Ukrainians are desperately trying to edit out defensive lines from consciousness because they don’t like the image of Ukrainians performing poorly, better that they are slowly but surely breaking through a desperate piecemeal defense.

why can't the russians actually destroy any Leopards?

    >the fact that a single leopard lies in a ditch means the counter offensive has failed and no one can beat Russia - 10667, of which: destroyed: 7076, damaged: 374, abandoned: 403, captured: 2814
